you are right on that and a point I did miss originally. So now instead of 424 points max it will be 5x that 2120. Much nicer high score to shoot for. Current overall high score is Violet Terra of the goons who has kills spead out through several space types.
This was entirely predictable, no idea why it was ever permitted. There are ways to have a valid PvP contest, but this is not the way. They could instead apply the normal zkillboard metrics, and they’d at least get more reasonable results by weighting points and value against quantity.
@DrysonBennington I have mentioned it earlier also. You can create as many accounts as you want in eve → create a character → log in to it → get a timer and log off OR simply eject from ship and log off → log in to your main account → combat probe the ship with timer OR just warp to the location the guy ejected ship from → kill it → keep creating alpha accounts and repeat same thing
They cant lol when they already announced it this way so confidently, so proud of their rules thinking they had it covered lmao.
Below is the quote from CCP
What’s stopping me from making alts and killing them to increase my score?
Nothing is stopping you (or anyone else) from doing that. If you want to spend time, invest in, and then kill 1,500 alts in different ships in different areas of space, that’s up to you.
Probably thought this would make them money where people had to create omega alts.
This is the best and I think the only loophole in my opinion. It is possible for CCP to claim EULA violation with that and disqualify all such kills from the contest. And they should do it.
nah, there no place in EULA that says you cant log in to two different alpha accounts one after another nor that says you cant kill your own alts. They will have to change EULA mid event then.
thanks ccp for your joke of an event. you use ai to come up with this dumpster fire of garbage? Even specifically allowing for this type of even cheesing in the faq? And people continue to insist you folks actually play this game…. please… If you can’t run a proper event, then keep fixing bugs, like how my targets like to randomly unlock themselves for no reason sometimes.. huh, how about that?
Don’t forget that every single alt needs to be killed in a different ship and Alpha clones are limited in what they can fly, or even undock in, so anyone recycling them will soon run out of ships they can kill.
No one is going to get the full list of ships. The fact that you dont understand that it will be extremely difficult to go past the full eligible kill count of alpha capable ships as a person who is doing genuine solo pvp where he doesnt control the target he’s presented with.
The higher the number the harder it gets for the real solo pvp’er to hit those high numbers as they will encounter same ships most of the time, while a person using day 1 alts doesnt have to. there is more than enough alpha capable ships in eve just to get significant advantage.
People like you are probably the reason CCP keeps being ignorant and not putting enough thought in to designing their own events.
I understand perfectly well that someone will be using the same alt in this, you can see it on zkill already.
Alphas can fly over 300 eligible ships so don’t think for a second that players aren’t already gaming the system in NS/LS, because I can guarantee you that they will be.
Players in EVE are very very good at getting around any limitations that CCP set, heck CCP can’t even get rid of botting, this contest will be gamed to the max.
This is the exact attitude of a generic lazy person. Blaming others and say “oh no, no matter what we do someone will find something”. I understand that you wont be able to completely negate abusing.
But with enough effort put, you can surely come up with a decent framework. This one however is not thought well enough. I already mentioned that i thought of this the instant i read the rules that this would happen. If i can im sure the dev’s provided enough attention could come up with a really solid framework that most are happy with. That should be the goal.
You might not be able to hit the mark always, but acknowledging your mistakes and improving and being transparent is what players want from CCP. instead, people like you like to go on the lazy route and say stuff like that and will never improve.
Well said! This is a kind of learned helplessness which is detrimental to group dynamics. This kind of person is doing two things at once. First, they are trying to sound smart, providing the ‘easy’ answer of just saying you are wrong. Such contrarianism masks an even deeper issue, which you noted is a form of “laziness”. These individuals don’t want to do anything, so they find it preferable to sit around saying “nothing will work”. They are ultimately unable to view a proposal with a creative open mind, unwilling to work with a problem and try to find a path forward. Instead, they just say “that won’t work” without any further thought.
In my alliance, we call these individuals “miners”, as they often cry about how nothing can be done to avoid being ganked.
