QoL feature proposal: Hotkey for locking mutiple ratts at once

Even better save each time before starting to and after done with altering the overview and achieved a satisfactory result (thus no more changes are expected for now).

This also makes it easier to share it with alts. Although it is also possible to share through EVEmail / chat as well or something though I never personally done that myself.

As the overview can be messed up by other means as well (client crash, computer crash or power outage) and such it is best to save it to an external file and as several files too just in case you accidentally overwrite the existing one and only later realize you’ve made some mistake.

A helpful support article (editing and saving):

And same from uniwiki:

They also have their own and some other overviews listed in case one of them suits your needs.

wow my guy you can’t read between the lines.

This feature will 1000% get automated via the botters.

I hope you don’t encounter a snake oil salesman in RL. :joy: :skull:

Ya you can have an overview tab just have hostile NPCs show up. Only ways to learn the overview is through YT/wiki and experimenting with it yourself.

Incursion overviews do this also as I run incursions and I continued to modify mine as I kept playing the game.

  • No bots and hyper AFK things.
  • CTRL + LC-drag thing. It selects structures and junk also.
  • Auto-Targeting System for high-slot. That sux anyway.
  • Auto-Targeting Missiles. The only good option at the cost of dps and clever targeting.
  • “Dumbbombs”. For limited scenarios out of hi-sec.

You better ask for this: “SHIFT/CTRL + LC first line in the overview + LC another line in the overview and select that and all targets in between”. Imagine, in 2024 EVE Online Overview don’t have this.

You need the Auto Targeting module. It goes in a high slot. It only operates when you are stationary or afterburner, and you need to then have it on all the time. It takes 5 seconds or so to lock on to any hostile that is targeting you. This allows you to concentrate on shooting the nearest rats while auto targeting concentrates on locking on new rats as they themselves target you.

It’s extremely useful in situations where there are multiple hostiles and you’re not sure if you have targeted them all. It takes care of that for you…the only downside being that there is a delay in auto targeting. But it does make sure that any ship that targets you gets targeted back.

Eve also has a built in auto target function, which is set to ‘off’ by default, especially as having it set to ‘on’ can lead to inadvertent ‘ooops’ moments.

Who is this “we” you are referring to? The half dozen people who still post in the forum?

“It selects structures and junk also.”

That’s an overview Setting you can adjust. There are some ready-made ones you can use to overcome this.

I really like the Idea of hovering over the Overview and doing it.

@All who are arguing about that this would automate and make things easier for bots.

Giving a feature that every bot already has to the whole People makes the bot unattractive. Every feature that is already in game that a bot could use makes the bot less desirable. It’s already in game, why use a bot ? If you catch what I mean.

So, make it more difficult to tell to the difference between botters and legit players? No thanks…

Your sentence makes no sense.

This feature is not needed by bots. They already have this feature, even more efficient since they can choose what to target.
CCP can’t detect a bot by the targeting speed alone, since a player can ctrl box to select the rats the moment they appear. Also if the auto targeter ends cycle just after the rats spawn, this could have the same effect (not sure)

So this feature would not help the bots, on the opposite it would give non-botter less of a disadvantage compared to botters.

The fact that there are already partially existing tools to do something alike ( target back, auto targeter, AT missiles, drones ) only proves that this kind of feature is not the problem you pretend it is.

The fact that some people don’t need that feature does not speak for anything but themselves. No need to make toxic posts. If you just don’t like it, then just STFU.

  • Knee-jerk contradiction.

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

So far, there is no valid argument against. Are you actually trying to promote that idea by flooding the topic with invalid arguments ?

IMO a valid argument against could be that in massive fights, that could add a lot of TiDi on the server.

Then the very next sentence…

Your sentence still makes no sense.

What about a hotkey to complete multiple missions at once?

more automation is better, it disincentivizes botting and a click broadcasting,

id like to see something like this too, the “click drag lock” box is indiscriminate in what it locks , like your own drones or cans and wrecks for eg. id like it if I could use the “click drag lock” on the overview.

explain how more automation in a game, will discourage botting?

you can’t select everything in the over view anyway… you can only have so many targets locked or selected… this qol feature makes zero sense.

because more automation means less desire to bot

I disagree.

With what? You cant target more than the ship can allow.
