Quantum Cores - Updates begin 8 September

EULA’s are so convoluted that unless you have a law degree and a Ouija board, they are meaning less, i mean seriously, if someone handed you a contract in a language you didn’t understand, would you agree to it with a full understanding?

yeah, that’ll hold up in court during your class action law suit

No, I’d go and get a translation.
However EULA’s are not that convoluted, they are simpler than most employee contracts even, let alone if you start reading acts of parliament.
I mean, you clearly understood what the Apple OS one said.

So clearly you can understand EULA’s.
Note especially that part that the Apple one said they can add/remove features. Talking in context that absolutely means they have the legal right to remove a feature from the standard OS and put it into a premium OS that you have to pay more for. Even if you paid money already for the real OS.
Ok, certain countries consumer protection might kick in. But that certainly doesn’t apply in the context of MMO’s and in game assets none of which are even yours, it’s said in pretty plain language CCP owns it all.

In Apple’s case, they didn’t have different degres of OS, the only had 1, and even in the case of the single install vs the family pack, it was the exact same disc, just the EULA was different ( one computer vs five)

in this case, we are not talking about changing a default font, we are talking about destorying months or years of work by small groups that don’t want to be slaves to major alliances

Realistically CCP is saying “you have to play the game OUR WAY, in the next update, we will assume control of your computer and play for you while you watch” but still give us money

None of which you actually own so…

It’s difficult for me to imagine fully grown adults saying these things and thinking it’s actually a smart thing to say.

How do you mean “none of which i actually own?”, for the most part the s**t we have, I built myself, including the Fortizar we live in. Building it yourself, ownership doesnt get much more than that

Okay Scoots, lets say that CCP decided that they didn’t like your demographic any more and made a new set of rules that painted a target in your head and you where nothing more than an income stream to other players. Are you going to be okay with knowing that you are paying the same subscription fee as every one else, just to get your stuff taken from you?

As in, you literally have no legal ownership of anything in the game.

lmao, “but your honor, i built the fortizar in game and CCP stole it from me!”

>losing argument because he didn’t read the EULA
>comes up with a completely unrelated hypothetical to try and save face

you should stop, kid. lmao, this is just sad to see.

At least one software EULA in the UK about 15 years ago included a clause giving the company possession of the user’s immortal soul. They did it as a ‘brown M&M’ clause.

If you can’t understand a EULA, don’t agree to it. Get someone who does to explain it to you first.

As Scoots and Nevyn have pointed out, no, you actually own none of that. CCP does. It is all just entries in database tables on their server. They own all of that data. They also own the copyrights to any character you make, as well as any stories of events that happened in-game. And all that? That’s pretty standard boilerplate MMO treatment. Every MMO in the world does that, to make it clear that in fact, their game is their game. It’s the company’s IP, so you don’t get to claim any ownership of any part of it.

All you pay for is access to it, and the ability to manipulate that data in the ways allowed to you by CCP, through the client. That’s it.

They’ve been trying to do that to us for years.

Let me help you out Arrendis…

The context of the question is: small group, Highsec… what percentage of structures are at risk?

The answer would be 100% of them 100% of the time.

Those able to secure prints and PI can plan and weather losing one here and there as the group can build them before they are lost and write them off soon as a structure is anchored. not so much with this quantum core thing.

This is the key thing, some people were able to manage the loss, it is what I referred to as Risk/time/benefit. Now those people have an ISK sink which they donate with 100% certainty to the people that have been farming them. No wonder it sticks in the throat of many indy players, this is quite frankly insulting and adding fuel to the fire. CCP never thinks about hisec and neither does the CSM.

This is why I suggest CCP step back and make the Quantum Core enable Tethering and external repairs only and leave the rest of the functionality untouched. That actually has a benefit to hisec because so many gankers use it to avoid AG. Come on CCP make it so!

Which they were previously.

Stop trying to make it out shes saying stuff opposite to what shes saying.

Open your eyes

No core = no reinforcement.
No reinforcement = easy to kill by almost everyone.
And with core = juicy target for almost everyone who can shoot your down.

… well this is wrong for existing structures so you’re starting off on the wrong foot here. did you mean “no online services = abandoned state = no rf”? because then you’d be right.

…I mean, this is a good thing. it’d only be a bad thing if you were some weak and entitled little high sec scrub lord who couldn’t protect their own structures but felt entitled to own one anyway. so, you’re not one of those kids, right?

Gamestop did that back in 2010 for April 1, IIRC there was also a free wifi agreement floating around London that laid claim to your first born for eternity.

One of Amazon’s software licences forbids the use of the software in autonomous systems that may harm users, unless there’s a zombie apocalypse declared by the CDC.

With this change will custom office’s get any love from the next incentive to encourage more destruction?

I have no clue what you are talking about?

How about some explicit clarification on your part before i just stat ignoring what ever you have to say on this thread.
