Questioning the Signs of Psychganopaths in Highsec

People who complain about other people discussing their statistics tend to be those whose own statistics are pretty bad, so they want to shut down those discussions so that they don’t have to appear comparatively bad to others. I’d say it’s a fairly natural and expected human bias.

That’s fine, but the topic isn’t the discussion of statistics. I tend to avoid PvP in general and my killboards aren’t even worth looking at unless you want to know a handful of obscure ways to get killed in High Sec. This guy farms SoE missions for ISK and I use that ISK to poke around other parts of the game.

I rarely talk about Null because I don’t know much about Null. It’s not my domain and I don’t have much experience with it. I do know about High Sec, and little about Low Sec, so I’m aware of the perils therein. Acutely aware, since this character is from 2019, has an 8+ standing with SoE, and almost two billion in assets that I haven’t dumped into skill injectors or lost on other characters poking around the dangerous parts of the sandbox. I don’t think my killboards should invalidate my opinion when those are part of the discussion.

I’m the one who is requesting and feel the thread had covered enough what had to be aired, off the chest so to speak.

Well, not everything is solely about you.

Let’s imagine that you and a bunch of friends are car enthusiasts and are talking about cars. Now, I’ve never personally driven a car, or even sat inside one except for the few times I took a taxi. But I still choose come up, say “hey friends, I have a lot to say on this subject!” and proceed to lecture you about which cars are the best, which ones you should and shouldn’t drive, give advice on how to fix and/or improve your car’s performance, etc. How would you feel about that?

I feel that you’re framing this as if I haven’t run into gankers before, but I have dodged more than a few. The Catalyst swarm is generally the one I encounter for obvious reasons. 'Course there’s the wormhole people I’ve run into as well, but they come in all shapes and sizes. Does a gatecamp count as a gank? Those are always fun.

Then again I am making it about me by saying that. There are people that talk about things they don’t understand at all, but you can’t really assume that just by their killboard.

Once again, this isn’t just about you.

Think about how many of the conversations on this forum go. Who starts them, what the topic is, etc. etc.

I guess I’ll have to give you a clue? It’s usually by people who have no idea how to play the game, complaining about the game and demanding for the developers to make changes to it.

Yeah I thought about that and made an edit just before you posted. Sorry.

Well you’ve got the normal fit guys sitting on the warp-in gate, right? They’re there to insta-lock and obliterated most of the ships. Then you’ve got the guy sitting on the warp-out to smartbomb the instant aligners to cover your bases. That’s more coordination than the average ball of Catalysts, even if the killmail shows fewer players.

Have you done either?

That’s right. When a whiner cries about game mechanics, or brags about their great exploits, the killboard is an objective third-party resource which allows us to evaluate that individual’s competence. When someone refuses to show their killboard, we can safely assume that their killboard does not indicate competence.

Can’t say I have. Ran into or through a few of them though. Recently more into than through though. :face_with_head_bandage: My dummy self tried to run an alt to Zarzakh by a route that runs through Tama the other day. Big mistake.

So you as the prey, know what it is like to be a hunter?

A lot like being prey except you’ve got more teeth, perhaps both literally and metaphorically but not necessarily both? I guess.

There are several other differences, for example, prey tend to have lower IQs, be more plantlike, and if they have eyes they are spaced out and oogly.

I imagine that is probably the case in a lot of circumstances, especially on this forum, but not always. However, if people that aren’t very experienced or are pvp averse have critique it’s not necessarily wrong. High Sec’s gameplay loop isn’t perfect and it takes a lot of investment to make it worth your time compared to alternatives.

If I lose a Mining Barge to a ganksquad it’s very easily replaced, mostly because I can run T4 missions with a high standing in 0.7 and pay for it many times over with an hour of busywork. If someone with a low amount of experience loses the same they’re probably screwed and don’t really know why or how to avoid it.

Somebody said something to me once and I definitely agree: “Avoiding PvP is a form of PvP.” You might not think a blank killboard is impressive, but it’s not as easy as you might think if the person is actually undocking and doing things.

It just a form of grieffing, they hate people posting anything anti-them . Now you will leave and they have silenced another voice.

I’m not so sure about that. They’re engaging with me, they’re listening to what I’m saying. They may not agree with it but that’s okay.
