I’m trying to understand where most of the income from ratting actually comes from.
The bounties are very consistent, but sometimes the wrecks contain modules or salvage that look valuable.
For experienced players, does most of the ISK come from the bounty payouts, or does looting and salvaging make up a significant part of it?
I understand that it varies between Hi-sec and Null and that the payouts and loot will always be more interesting in Null but I’m just looking for a median.
First off, where are you getting these rats? lvl 4 mission in high sec, high sec combat anomaly that you run in a frigate? low sec anomaly that you run in a TC3 or Cruiser? Null sec combat anomaly you run in a Battleship or Marauder?
I will tell you about my mission running experience as I believe you want info about high sec.
I run the average lvl 4 mission, and in my mission dominix I have 5 MTUs. I warp to the mission, drop the MTU, kill everything(i do not speed run) and then either finish the mission or goto the next stage of the mission.
After I turn in the mission and get the paltry reward, I then get into my Noctis and head back via bookmarks to my MTUs and then proceed to pick up the loot and salvage all the wrecks.
In all I can make anywhere 5-25 million for 15 -30min of work.
I would suggest you look to Homefronts. but I hope this helped your question.
The majority of the ratting I did was in wormholes for drops. I was a rookie back then, the better way is doing it through the missions and combat sites. You will never make a lot of ISK off the bounties. I recommend doing some ratting in Pochven, if you are up for the challenge. Unless it has changed, loot drops in Pochven combat sites are off the rails.
Most of the consistent income comes from bounties. You can easily hit 20 or 30 million ISK ticks (wallet payout per 15 minutes). Ratters don’t usually gather loot from ratting in null, since there’s a lot of m3 of it.
The real ISK from ratting in null comes from rare spawns: faction spawns, haulers and officers.
Faction spawns are dropping faction modules (ex. True Sansha) that may be worth either pretty much nothing or several tens of millions of ISK.
Haulers can drop a lot of raw minerals worth hundreds of millions of ISK, but you also need to haul it from the belt. It’s usually 2-3 full blockade runners of materials.
Officers are much more rare and can drop anything, from just a worthless tag to modules worth tens of billions, or even hundreds of billions of ISK. However, note that these are really, really, really rare.
I noticed that the bounty payouts are weak but the loot in 0.6 is also negligent.
I don’t know enough of what I’m doing in this game to go mess around in Pochven yet. Doesn’t “Pochven” mean Gotcha in Triglivian?
Isn’t it so nice to get goodies for doing something you love to do anyway?
But you’re not yet done with your mission, Princess. Space is still way too polluted with ships to tarry now. Full speed ahead towards a sound and cleaner space.
That is what YouTuber’s tutorials are for, take a look at a few, and see what kind of ship builds they recommend. You will want a positive standing with the Trigs which can be done by completing a few missions with their agents.
I think you will find more trouble from the players in there than the Trigs. there are enough stations to dock up and dump your spoils and you can use a Glorification Filament to leave with your loot. Just remember to keep the Trig government happy on standings and they won’t power up the disintegrator cannons.
