Myskytuuli Regiment investigating trend of fishing boats vanishing at sea between Namiyo and X-ZFA12

Nannaras X

September 27th - YC 120

Between the coasts of Namiyo and X-ZFA12, five fishermen boats out searching for Suunuchi eels and Growbler fish have been reported missing with all hands on deck. These reports have all been made within the span of three days with one vessel vanishing on the 23rd, another one on the 24th, and three on the 26th. After the first two disappearances were attributed to havoc weather conditions, the sudden spike to three simultaneous disappearances in a single day has provoked the Myrskytuuli Regiment to take control of this investigation for matters of public security.

Originally the investigation rested in the hands of a civilian coast guard with enough resources for search and rescue operations. The only success this coastal unit has had in the investigation however was the recovery of one lone survivor of the vessel lost of the 24th. This survivor, an eel handler named Nikoti Janhuda claims to have witnessed what destroyed the ship he was on. When approached by ZANIE reporters, Nikoti had this to say.

“So I’m on the top deck, right? Port side, everything suddenly starts getting darker as this storm cloud comes out of nowhere. Literally, in fact, it just appears all of a sudden. Boat starts shaking and this orb or something rises halfway out of the water…A-And it’s got this big solid red eye, bright like a spotlight. It stares at me before this large shadowy tentacle shoots out from the water and…BAM, right down the center of my boat, cuts it in half."

"T-T-Then another pops out of the water, right? It takes a swing at us from the side and sends our wreckage flying! I’m saying we were airborne for a brief moment! Equipment, eels and the crew just falling from the sky. I held on to dear life to a pipe and stayed clinged to it until rescue arrived.”

  • Nikoti Janhuda

This vague retelling of events was initially regarded as a tall tale by coastal units, but has been taken into account by Myrskytuuli Regiment officers as of now. Tokitu Yaken of the Regiment has released this statement in regards to where they currently stand in the investigation. Along with a decree to forbid fishing on the eastern coast of Namiyo until further notice.

“We’re looking into all plausible causes for these disappearances. Kidnapping, tripping of some abandoned security network, piracy. And as silly as suggesting a sea monster is responsible. We won’t out rule the possibility of an unknown and dangerous life-form in this planet’s ocean. "

"Until then, no ship is to undock and venture out into the deep sea from the east coast of Namiyo until further notice. Fishing operations however may continue on the west coast.”

  • Tokitu Yaken

The Ohrion Conglomerate have a small department researching the seas of Nannaras X. The waters here are rather unexplored, both public databases and the database created by the Ohrions barely scratched the surface of the deep blue. The Ohrions working in this small department have expressed their excitement in the possibilities of discovering another life-form on Nannaras. To this, they’ve been enlisted by the Regiment in the investigation to supply scans of the body of water for any anomalies.

Should a life-form be discovered to be behind this, policies are in place to prevent the Myrskytuuli Regiment from using lethal force against it. The Ohrion Conglomerate would first have to be made aware so they can begin observations to study the creature’s behavior. That said, should the creature become a threat to the mainland of Namiyo, the Regiment is authorized to use full force against it.

ZANIE will follow up on however this story develops.

Viokoro Velan challenges the Myrskytuuli Regiment’s control of law enforcement

October 3rd - YC 120

Nannaras X

At the end of every month, leaders representing the CORE sit down for a meeting with the revered Patriarch, report on their progress in their respective fields, and discuss plans for the month ahead. This meeting also serves as a chance for them to voice concerns and suggestions of their own.

While these talks happen behind closed doors, ZANIE is supplied officially recorded minutes of the meeting. Some of the dialogue may be redacted, but ZANIE has the authority to report on anything in the minutes that isn’t.

And there’s nothing more noteworthy than the Chief Fabricator of Salvaged Fortunes Industries, Viokoro Velan, voicing her concerns about the Myrskytuuli Regiment being responsible for both the military of the Raata Zaibatsu, and the law enforcement for its civilians.

We go now to her exact words from the minutes.

“Let me just get to the point, I do believe the police force should be a separate entity from the Myrskytuuli Regiment.”

“These officers we have patrolling the streets and stations are not trained like police officers. They’re trained like soldiers, they think like soldiers and have the equipment to represent that…I go to the food market, right? And there’s a woman, fully dressed in armor, and she has a rail rifle as long as my arm! Like, just look for at my arm for a second, it was about THIS long! It even had a scope on it! Just…Why? Myself and everyone in that market were there for fruits and vegetables, and standing guard is someone who looks like they’re ready for an ambush of Matari guerilla fighters. It’s pure overkill.”

“Forgive me Patriarch, I know my tone may be out of line and making this unprofessional. Especially with me taking a little long with this. But I have to stress to you why this is a problem. Many of my colleagues have mentioned how uncomfortable it is to see this kind of stuff when walking down the street. Speaking for myself however? I find it scary, it’s unnerving and honestly, inefficient. Our military is also our police? No offence, but am I just ignorant about how the Raata Empire did things? Did lords have their troops keep the peace in their fiefdoms? If so, I must say that method of keeping the peace is outdated and nowhere near efficient today.

“So Patriarch, I implore you to consider separating the Myrskytuuli Regiment and the police. This is better for your people…I-I mean our people - Our people shouldn’t have see fully armed soldiers walking around when they leave their homes. Soldiers that are trained to fight and kill - not to enforce laws and make arrests. There should be a clear distinction between the military and law enforcement…"

  • Viokoro Velan

The Patriarch opened the floor to debate immediately after Viokoro was done. Monden Searbier of Lucrative Excavations was the first to declare support for Vikoro’s plea. Matron Tuilina Malioka, Tokitu Yaken and Stelmari Oksasio argued against it, citing how the system has been nearly perfect in functionality and pointing to the incredibly low crime-rate in Hoiyori. Along with this, Tokitu mentioned the difficulty for making such a drastic overhaul to the system. If what Viokoro said was true about select Regiment personnel not being properly trained for law enforcement, replacements for every Regiment soldier assigned to Hoiyori would have to be trained. A time consuming effort to fix something that isn’t broken.

For afterthoughts on this, ZANIE reporters have approached voices in the debate.

The Patriarch closed the debate after hearing both sides of the argument. However, instead of declaring his decision. The Patriarch postponed the subject until the Myrskytuuli Regiment concluded their investigation into the missing fishermen ships and crew. This to avoid shaking up the Regiment during a delicate situation involving the security and safety of the Hoiyori colony.

“It’s tyrannical to have your military in absolute control of law enforcement. Enforcing the law is a delicate matter that requires focused training. But our guys are trained to fight in warzones with SOME training on how to make arrests…Oh, and this isn’t anything classified - but these soldiers watching Hoiyori? Any of them can be shipped out to a conflict zone at any time…So if anyone here wants to sign up to keep law and order in Hoiyori, it comes with the caveat of being sent off to fight some battle “For great honor"…I can say for certain that I’ll be holding the Patriarch’s feet to the fire about this subject once the investigation ends.”

  • Monden Searbier

On the other side of the debate, ZANIE managed to get ahold of Stelmari Oksasio of the Stelmari Exchange for his opinion of the situation:

“Personally, I don’t see a single thing wrong with the current system. Hell, back on Pavannaka I, my boys were a bunch of jarheads and they did a bang up job in keeping the peace in my town. I made sure that they were packing heat too, we had GEK-38 assault rifles, we had bolt pistols, we had a few MH-82 HMGs around…You walk up to two numbskulls brawling in the streets with a GEK in your hands - I guarantee you those two would stop and stand at attention. Is that not what we want? Immediate cooperation? Oh, but it’s overkill, right? Nah, because when some pirate raiding party shows up I’d like my first responders to be fully capable of smoking them. Not some schmucks with tasers and peashooters.”

  • Stelmari Oksasio

Tokitu Yaken and Tuilina Malioka were unavailable for comment.

“Sea Monster” of Nanannas X discovered - A behemoth Rogue Drone.

Nannaras X

October 7th YC 120

The rumored “Sea Monster” lurking in the depths of Nannaras X’s waters has been encountered by the Myrskytuuli Regiment. However, instead of finding a living organism they found a behemoth of a rogue drone.

Ohrion specialists conscripted to aid in the ongoing investigation had detected an anomaly on long range sonar near a tiny island off the eastern coast of Namiyo. The resulting silhouette was unlike any other detected by this team and swiftly reported to the Regiment to be investigated.

A platoon was deployed to the area, two patrol boats and four Python assault-class drop ships for support and rescue if the situation escalated. Patrol would circle the area with their own sonar devices to get right on top of the signal. The patrol would go on silently for an hour before heavy disturbances in pattern of the waves arise. Patrol boats would then report of a sudden spike of activity bellow them on their sensors as soon as they close in on their target. At the same time, clouds begin forming.

The waters then settle momentarily, before the “monster “reveals itself by popping out of the water and launching one of the patrol boats up into the sky with one of its tentacles. It was round, large and according to Regiment personnel on scene witnessing this - a scrapheap. The multiple dropship pilots present have all reported back to command of this massive being emerging the water being a machine after raking notice of a metallic surface, antennas and tentacles made from different materials in non-symmetrical order all over it’s round body in varying lengths. Dropship heartbeat scanners also failed at picking up any signature from the beast. Command then makes the call that they’re dealing with a drone and authorizes the Dropships to engage with full force.

The remaining patrol boat broke off to rescue and evacuate the crew of the boat launched in the air while the dropships began opening fire. Rain would all of a sudden begin pouring as the fight commences, following a thick fog rolling in. At this point command loses contact with the dropship as their signal becomes jammed.

Three of the four dropships would eventually report back to base 17 minutes prior to going dark. After returning to base the pilots were debriefed on what happened during the engagement. The pilots then report that they failed to destroy the drone due to multiple factors. The signal jamming the base experienced was undoubtedly coming from the sea-drone the pilots were facing off with. This jamming extended to the onboarding onboard systems of the dropships, radars alerting them of nearby allies or threats or obstructions were silenced, along with communications between dropships. This, combined with sudden wind turbulences created a difficult situation for Regiment pilots to fly in. One of the four dropships would soon be obliterated as one of the drone’s longer tentacles cuts through the air with power behind its swing and cleaved the ship in to two flaming halves that plummeted to the sea below.

The remaining three dropships would stay and fight in hopes of putting down the behemoth. Alas, they report that their weaponry was ineffective at penetrating the hull of the drone. Although, this isn’t to say the drone was indestructible as one pilot managed to blow off one of it’s medium sized appendages with one well place shot on the joint connecting it to it’s main body. After this, the drone would kick up a wave with its largest arm and flee back into the water. The pilots witnessing this would observe the drone zooming out of sight as soon as it submerged back under the water with the help of what they suggest was an improvised hybrid water/atmosphere propulsions system.

This discovery has only opened the door for new questions that need answers to. Most notably the possibility of a larger drone infestation than Zaibatsu initially thought they had. On May 27th YC 120, the Regiment discovered a rogue drone hive in vicinity of of Hoiyori. This hive was swiftly stomped out with the help of an elite unit of rogue drone hunters trained by the Regiment know as “De-bug”. Next, the Ohrions are flustered with how this drone’s appearance caused such a disturbance with the weather. The Ohrion specialists helping the Regiment track down this drone have since been relieved and returned to the Ohrion Conglomerate to pursue an answer to this. All while spiritual philosophers such as Suha Rabuya of the Windchime order begin pondering the symbolism of the scene.

Tokitu Yaken announced this as soon as the pilots were debriefed

“It has come to my attention that the monster of the seas we’ve been hunting is no creature, but a defective machine. Our warriors put up a valiant effort in attempting to dispose of it, but sadly the deviant automaton fled before the killing blow could be dealt… But now knowing our enemy, we can apply the appropriate weapon to counter them. I’m deploying De-bug as of now to continue the hunt for this drone of the seas and destroy it. Appropriate action is being taken to analyzed the previous combat data and adapt our weaponry and tactics for this foe. We will not sit idly by while we let this thing pollute our waters.”

  • Tokitu Yaken

By now the Regiment has returned to the scene of the battle to recover the tentacle blasted off, adding merit to the report the pilots gave. The three surviving pilots are to awarded the “Yaken Star” for remarkable bravery and efforts to fight a foe like no other.

ZANIE will report on any new develops if they occur.

Karvose Collaboration Studios begins new program to teach interested parties how to be a wrestler

Nannaras X

October 9th YC 120

Head Director of the Karvose Collaboration Studios - Auljam Karvose, is back in the news as he continues to pursue his desire of establishing a pro-wrestling brand in the Raata Zaibatsu. With controversy following every step of the way.

This time around, the Collaboration Studio have put out recruitment advertisements on notice boards all over Hoiyori for a new training program to teach interested parties the ways of being a professional wrestler. It should be noted that this program has no official support from House Yaken and is operating on minimal funding with only two capable experts available to teach pupils. As a result, the program has a very limited capacity for prospects. The requirements expected out of applicants however is a tall order as the description asks for individuals who are athletically minded with a high pain threshold and no fear of heights, crowds, public speaking or being touched.

When Auljam first revealed professional wrestling to the attendees of the first bi-annual “Bejawl" on the 1st of June. It left the audience with mixed reaction with some citing curiosity in what happens next and the others out right disgusted at the performance and question why the Patriarch have gave Auljam Karvose so much free reign to do this in the first place.

“When I applied for citizenship here, I thought I was applying for citizenship to a place that was going to uphold and preserve Raata qualities, but then we got this baboon in shades [Auljam] trying to shoehorn a professional wrestling brand in here. And our Patriarch ain’t stopping him, he’s just letting this man corrupt this place and move us another step closer to becoming a knock-off Gallente Federation.”

  • Concerned colonist

As mentioned before, there is still a sizable base of supporters wishing Auljam all the best in his quest to convince the Patriarch to release additional funding and support to establish his professional wrestling brand in the Raata Zaibatsu. Curious about how exactly the Patriarch views this matter, ZANIE has requested a comment from the man himself.

“Auljam has admittedly wasted plenty of my time boring me designs for title belts and costumes for wrestlers. While he speaks about wrestling with sincere passion, I’ve feared he was to caught up working on the vanity of it rather than putting effort into making actual substance…I’m a patient man and I selected Auljam Karvose for a reason. If I think he’s wasting more resources than it’s worth, I will shut him down and end this charade. However, if he can deliver to me a product that doesn’t compromise on the values we uphold here. Then I see no reason why we shouldn’t find a place for it in our growing society. If he’s now getting around to actually training some new talent, i suspect he’ll have something more substantial to show me"

  • Huan Yaken

The training is scheduled to last an undetermined length of time with very limited space. As of now, only thirteen individuals have applied and are awaiting a tryout date. It’s said that the training will be rigorous process that will ensure prospects will learn how to do moves in a manner that are safe for both wrestlers, develop characters and learn details on how to “sell" the illusion of a real fight. Two professionals are present in the Zaibatsu to teach these prospects, Foley Jones and Himri Besi (Better known by his ring name Lostar Brali)

Himri, however has express his dissatisfaction about how long it’s taking for Auljam to gain the approval he needs to make his wrestling brand.

“I feel like I need to blame myself for not seeing the writing on the wall. I been here for several months now having only performed in one match after I’ve been promised that this whole pitch at the Bejawl would be kicked off and we’d be building this next level brand right away. But no, that’s not how it’s turning out. We instead piss off a bunch of people who are here for old timey traditions and Auljam has to fight this losing battle to get them to accept it…I knew I should had stayed in Everyshore instead of trying to muck around in the indie scene. This ain’t even amatuer hour, it’s amatuer year around here.”

  • Himri Besi (Lostar Brali)

Himri goes on to say that he’s not interested in renewing his contract with the Collaboration Studio once it expires in late December. Foley Jones however appears to remain supportive and eager to get to work in trying in what Hope’s to be the first generation of Raata superstars. Auljam Karvose, while not available for a comment, has stated that he’s going back to the drawing board and compromising on his original vision to be more compatible with customs here in Hoiyori. How he plans to do that is unknown.

Interview: Veskin Sentinel on the Spectral Analyzer

Nannaras X

October 11th YC 120

Instead of interviewing another figure of importance in the Zaibatsu, ZANIE had the pleasure of sitting down with a guest from the outside. Veskin Sentinel is a Capsuleer part of the corporation Sapphire Interstellar Capital Holdings (Or S-ICH) and is the inventor behind the “Spectral Analyzer” a ship module that is to be an explorer’s best friend as it will be able to give context to unknown objects in space. Such as being able to identify what materials said object is made out of, temperature, age and much more.

While the module is still in it’s developmental stage, the Ohrion Conglomerate has taken interest in the project and have dispatched Caspuleer representative Laiya Aholm to Veskin’s labs to observe the technology up close. Satisfied with what she saw, pitched the idea to ZANIE to have Veskin Sentinel come to ZANIE offices to sit down for an interview to talk about it more in further detail.

We go now to the transcript of that interview

[Hoovand]
"Today, I have the pleasure of having the honor of sitting across from an honorable guest of the Zaibatsu. Veskin Sentinel of Sapphire Interstellar Capital Holdings. Veskin, how are you doing?"

[Veskin]
"I am doing alright, thank you. Pleasure to be here."

[Hoovand]
"Excellent, now without further ado. We’re gonna start this interview off by asking the question "Who is Veskin Sentinel?". Could you please introduce yourself to our readers who are unfamiliar with you?

[Veskin]
"Well, in a few words, I am a bit of an inventor. After a long education period at the University of Caille, I turned my passion for technology into my everyday job. I have been working on various prototype technology projects, aimed to be used by Capsuleers and Clone Troopers. I like to present new projects, that would change the way we operate in many of our spheres of activity. I have been doing this for more than seven years now. I also have a passion for art. Still in the process of improving my skills in this sphere.

[Hoovand]
"And you’re a Capsuleer yourself, no?"

[Veskin]
"Yes, I am a capsuleer. I started at the University of Caille and after I met my sponsor, I enlisted in the Capsuleer program.”

[Hoovand]
"I must confess, you would be the first Capsuleer i’ve ever spoken to directly."

[Veskin]
"Oh, hehe. I hope you are not nervous. There are many capsuleers that are cunts, but there are also really good people among us. I am striving to be of the latter.

[Hoovand]
"As you say, but to avoid getting sidetracked…Can you tell us about your most project that the Ohrion Conglomerate has taken interest in? The Spectral Analyzer i believe?

[Veskin]
"Yes. Well it is my latest project. We - me and my associates - have been keeping it secret for a long time, to avoid speculations and so on. But now we can talk about it. It is basically a special spacecraft device, that, with the help of finely crafted algorithms and a broad database, can reveal detailed information about various mysterious objects that capsuleers encounter in their journeys out in the wild. It’s a complicated process to develop such an elaborate device and we are far from the finished version."

[Hoovand]
"Would you declare this to be your most ambitious project yet?"

[Veskin]
“Well, no. Actually the most ambitious project that me and my teams are working on are the so called "Multicapsule Ships". You will hear more about them in the coming months, but the Spectral Analyzer is pretty ambitious too. And both Multicapsule Ships and the Spectral Analyzer can be interconnected projects.

[Hoovand]
"Have there been any complications in getting the project to its current stage?"

[Veskin]
"Yes. Present time the Analyzer only works with the help of bulky calibration modules. We are having trouble with the various ships sensory systems that it has to integrate with and, we have problems with making it work on smaller spacecrafts, such as frigates. It is an ongoing task and I believe we can make it work. It will just take time."

[Hoovand]
"So in this tech’s current state, it can only function only larger vessels like a cruiser?"

[Veskin]
"Yes. Cruiser sized ships and larger. With the appropriate calibration module, that we need to fine tune for each ship type."

[Hoovand]
"And exactly how much would you estimate - based on current day prices - a single module would cost to produce?"

[Veskin]
"Hmmm… In the current state, the module itself costs around 10 million ISK to produce. Adding the calibration modules it would cost more, but we are aiming to get rid of them. So I estimate one such module would cost around 12-15 million ISK. But that would also depend on how well me manage to integrate it with various ships systems. If we do well, the price will not increase much. The module operates with scripts. They will be between 10 thousand and 100 thousand, depending on the scripts complexity.”

[Hoovand]
"And will this module only be developed to be used by Empyreans? At release it sounds like this module will be catered to just them, yes. But would you shy away from looking into developing a module that’s suited more conventional starships?

[Veskin]
"Capsuleers will use it the most. But it will be available for all, not just Empyreans. Everyone that has a starship should be able to use it."

[Hoovand]
"If that’s the case then that means you’d have a customer base that is larger than just Capsuleers…So i have to ask if you put any thought in how you plan to distribute this technology. I Know we’re a way off from that point - but i ask if you simply put any thought into it. Does your organization S-ICH plan to hold the rights and distribute the module? Blueprint copies? Original blueprint designs? Or would you go the route of selling the finished design to a larger manufacturer in Empire space to make it more readily available to the masses.

[Veskin]
"There haven’t been internal discussions among S-ICH about that part. It is a bit early for this kind of plans. So now we are in the process of gathering approval from independent Capsuleers and the Big Four, CONCORD and the like. Once we got approval, we will go on the next phase, which will be further development of the tech, to a point where we can safely say it can be used by most pilots, be they Capsuleers or not. Then, depending on the contracts that we make with capsuleer and empire authorities, we will settle on a distribution plan. In any case the plan will be for me and S-ICH to hold the patent of the tech. That is the initial idea that we have settled on. Will see how it goes and we will strive to make the module readily accessible, for a fair price."

[Hoovand]
"I see, well, Veskin i fear we’re out of time - Do you have any closing statements? Anything you want people to know that we haven’t covered?"

[Veskin]
” I do encourage everyone that is curious about our tech, to look up my GalNet blog, "Voyager Spirit", it is also linked in my CONCORD profile. To our most respected audience I will just say: Be curious, strive to reach the unknown, and be brave. Thank you for this interview Mr Lindus."

[Hoovand]
"Thank you, been a pleasure Veskin, have a safe trip home."

Prominent restaurant temporally closed down after being exposed for selling soda products

Nannaras X

October 12th YC 120

The “Itsu" restaurant in the commerce district of Hoiyori has been temporarily shut down after Myrskytuuli Regiment officers discovered the establishment was distributing Quafe and other soda products to patrons.

“Itsu” is a restaurant that aims to deliver an authentic Raata dining experience found during the high-period of the Raata Empire, with the exception of some modern security measures and utilities to ensure a sanitary environment. Colonists visiting Itsu could enjoy staple meals of Raata cuisine in an atmosphere that came right out of a time capsule, complete with live performances from geisha entertainers.

However as the Regiment has found out, this experience is sullied by the sales of carbonated soda beverages such as Quafe, Starsi and Fizzal. To those readers unaware Quafe, and similar beverages, are all considered illegal in Hoiyori. This decision was made by the Ohrion Board of Health and Wellbeing after deeming soft drinks to be a “Cocktail of chemicals with no redeeming nutritional value”. This is due to research linking soft drinks as a leading cause of obesity (which comes with its own problems of high blood-pressure, potential heart disease, and an increased chance of cancer), type-2 diabetes, cavities, and devastating effects to tooth enamel.

The Regiment discovered this due to one unfortunate mixup with orders. The scene goes a little something like this; the Itsu is packed during the evening, as soon as a table was made vacant it was occupied within a minute. Many of the customers had just got off their shift and were looking to blow off steam and catch the live musical performance from Tetsune Susato and Raasa Kemonen. Among the patrons were three off duty Regiment officers who ordered a pot of Tenal green tea. At Itsu, its it’s common practice that when you order drinks you get a freshly made pot of that tea from a section in the kitchen entirely devoted to preparing teapots. The officers patiently wait until their pot arrives, they pour a round of drinks, have a toast to each other and drink. As soon as the liquid hits the tongue of one officer, he spits it out while the other two recoil in shock. One officer takes another sip, then another and informs his comrades that they were drinking Quafe.

Being served Quafe was immediately reported, on duty officers reported to the scene and confronted the evening manager with the recovered evidence of the Quafe-filled teapot in hand. The manager thankfully came clean right away and cooperated when faced with imposing representatives of Hoiyori’s law enforcement. and revealed that he’s been acting as a distributor for soda. Demanding more information, the officers were led to the freezer where they found six barrels filled with Quafe (two of which were diet), three of Starsi, and two of a brand named Fizzal.

According to the manger the plan went like this. Regulars that frequent the restaurant and seemed to be on the level were let in on some secret items they could order that aren’t listed in the menu. The onitseru special if you wanted Quafe and the shinomeister special if you wanted Starsi. Waiters and waitresses were told to go along with this, but never order it themselves (if they tried, they were simply denied). The order would then be handed off to the tea-crafter in the back and they would wait around the time it would take to boil enough water for a pot before filling up one of the desired soda. The idea was to drink this illegal substance in plain sight. Unfortunately in this scenario, the Quafe filled pot was mislabeled and sent to the table with the Regiment officers.

Patrons were told to finish up their meals and depart as quickly as possible and anyone on the waiting list was promptly told by Regiment officers to return home. Tetsune Susato and Raasa Kemonen’s performance was also cut short to drive home the point that the place was closing several hours early. Staff were rounded up and questioned about having knowledge of the soft drink sales, while both the manager and tea-crafter were escorted out though a back door with confiscated soda barrels in tow. It appears all the employees were in the dark about what was going on and were all let go. The manager however is being questioned further about who supplied him with the soft drinks. The manager continues to be cooperative, claiming that he was manipulated into doing it. While he was quick to come clean, he is still looking at serving time for being involved with distributing a banned substance, although the sentence will be merciful in note of his cooperation.

The Itsu is planned to reopen soon after the Regiment can safely say that none of the current employees are tied to the soda distribution. ZANIE would like to remind everyone that it is greatly appreciated to report any suspicious dealings in Hoiyori to your nearest Regiment official to investigate.

ZANIE will monitor this situation for any developments.

Soda smuggler apprehended

Nannaras X

October 17th YC 120

The smuggler acting as the supplier of soda products to the Itsu restaurant has been apprehended by Regiment authorities.

After cooperation from the arrested restaurant manager behind the distribution of several different brands of soda products in Itsu, the Regiment was able to find the identity of the supplier though use of security camera footage and a description. The supplier went by the business alias “Furrier King” before the Regiment apprehended him and learned his name, Thidore Pessard, a Gallentean smuggler working independently from any mainstream criminal organization.

After combing screencaps of security footage and a description of the smuggler, Officers patrolling Hoiyori kept a keen eye out for their suspect. It only took two days however for two officers to spot him while on patrol at the docks on the eastern coast of Namiyo. This dock was a cluttered scene due to the recent banning of sailing out from the east coast with the rogue drone sea monster still loose. Fishermen crowded the area and boats were secured in impractical locations due to the lack of space. One officer of this patrol managed to lock eyes with Thidore as they were walking towards each other. As soon as the officer points him out to his partner, Thidore breaks out in a sprint in the other direction.

The officers give chase and call for backup - the suspect begins damaging Zaibatsu property as he knocks over tanks of Ruk fish, kicking over a fruit stand to lose his pursuers. The chase came to an end as Thidore embarked on a docked boat and immediately gets the engines running. Thidore manages to get the ship moving before the two officers catch up to him. Aiming their rail rifle at the boat engines, the two officers discharge their weapons in an attempt to disable the boat, and succeed. Thidore then quickly puts his hands up and surrenders, just as two officers from another dock patrol arrive. Thidore was taken into custody and is currently being processed for sentencing.

Evidence against Thidore starts with the I.D found on him during his arrest; a temporary guest I.D that colony administration can distribute to non-colonists visiting Hoiyori or other facilities owned by the Zaibatsu. These I.Ds are required for a variety of purposes, whether for vacation, family visits or, in Thidore’s case, a student from the University of Callie coming to learn more about the Windchime philosophy of Wayism. Colony administrations can confirm that this I.D was fraudulent and never handed out to the name printed on it.

Moving onto the boat, the serial number attached to it linksto a boat that was decommissioned for faulty construction and was to be scrapped. However, it appears the boat was “taken care of a few days early”. Refrigerated compartments used to store items like bait or fish were reconfigured to store barrels of identical sizes as the ones found in the freezer of the Itsu restaurant. Lastly, these boats are to only start up after a valid handprint is given. Since Thidore managed to get it moving it is a clear indication that he programmed his handprint in on the boat’s computers.

It is believed based on the evidence that Thidore was smuggling soda in via boat, his pickup location is still being investigated. Either its located on one of the islands in the region of Namiyo, the Ishukone owned landmass of X-ZFA12, or it’s surrounding islands With the ban in place preventing any ships setting sail from the eastern coast, the smuggler was effectively trapped and would’ve raised suspicion if he attempted to undock.

Hoiyori colonists have voiced concern regarding the crackdown on the sale of soda products, claiming they’re “Harmless” and “Enjoyable”. Some go as far as to be critical of the Ohrion Board of Health and Wellbeing’s disapproval of junk food. To answer these concerns, Ohrion Matron Tuilina Malioka had this to say.

“It’s a romantic notion New Eden has in its head that all you need to do to ensure the health of your people is to simply supply them with expensive and advanced healthcare services This however is only half the battle as these services should only be used in the worst case scenario of someone falling ill or catching some disease. The other half is preventing them from having to use these services in the first place and the best way we can go this is making sure people are eating right and feeding their bodies valuable nutrients. Junk food like soda or candy only pollute our bodies with more chemicals than nutrients…and for what? A cheap thrill or moment of pleasure? These kind of indulgences are what give people health problems, it’s what ends up making them ill and sending them to their nearest clinic. As such, I stand by the board’s decision wholeheartedly.

  • Tuilina Malioka

The Raata Zaibatsu takes immense pride in supplying it’s people with fresh, never factory made organic food products though it’s agricultural module known as the Kresh Root Society. The Society is a consortium of farmers and ranchers with ample funding from House Yaken to work day in and day out growing crops and raising livestock. The practice of genetically engineering crops or livestock is strictly forbidden by the Board of Health and Wellbeing and is thoroughly enforced by weekly testing and examination from the Ohrion Conglomerate.

ZANIE will remain vigilant for any new developments.

Interview: Lauralite Delilah Brezia on the Lirsuatton VI humanitarian effort

Nannaras X

October 23rd YC 120

Originally scheduled on October the 20th, ZANIE Invited the Capsuleer Lauralite Delilah Brezia of the UNF-A, the organization behind the humanitarian effort on Lirsuatton VI. This interview was published for the local population of Hoiyori to view, but was withheld from being published to the wider public (IGS Thread) until after the talks to purchase the Lirsuatton VI groundbase by Lucrative Excavations concluded.

We go now to a transcript of that interview

[THIS INTERVIEW WAS DONE ON THE 20TH OF OCTOBER - YC 120]

[Hoovand]
"Tonight, we have another guest in the studio. In studio - to talk about the humanitarian efforts on Lirusatton VI - Colonial Director of the United Neopian Federation, Lauralite Brezia. Lauralite, how are you?"

[Lauralite]
"Thank you, I’m glad to be here. I’m doing quite well."

[Hoovand]
"Excellent - Now i like to start off by asking if you could tell us about the UNF. To inform any readers unaware of the identity of your people"

[Lauralite]
"Ah, you may wish to be a bit more specific, capsuleer, or baseliner?"

[Hoovand]
"Give how i didn’t realize there was a difference, how about both?"

[Lauralite]
"It’s quite alright Mr. Lindus, it’s a common detail overlooked. Hm… I suppose I should start with the baseliner, as its the reason the capsuleer alliance even has the name. The United Neopian Federation, is first and foremost, a baseliner entity. It’s the space borne governing body of my homeworld, quite a ways removed from here."

[Hoovand]
"So where do Capsuleers come into the equation?”

[Lauralite]
"Capsuleers were, interestingly enough, some of the first to recognize my home and people as a distinct political entity, and some chose to sponsor me, and a handful of others initially, to become capsuleers alongside them. From there, a fair number have continued to act as friends and associates to my people, and eventually created their capsuleer alliance using the same name to distinguish such."

[Hoovand]
"So, if I’m understanding this right - You’re a native of this "Neopian" and you’re people were encountered by Capsuleers. And, instead of just wiping out out of existence for the hell of it…They adopted your people in away?"

[Lauralite]
"‘Neopia,’ Mr. Lindus, and capsuleers really only started encountering and paying us much mind in the past three years. We first ran into the Interbus corporation and the Thukker some years ago. It was an… interesting encounter, from what I’ve been told."

[Hoovand]
"Before i go on, apologizes for getting your homeworld wrong, but moving on - When you say "From what I’ve been told" are you saying these encounters happened before your time?”

[Lauralite]
"No, I simply wasn’t there when it happened. I apologize for the confusion."

[Hoovand]
"Allow me to move us along then - Lirsuatton VI. Why is the UNF on the planet?"

[Lauralite]
"Simple humanitarianism. When the news article broke, a decision was made, primarily on the capsuleer side of the UNF, to go and prepare some aid supplies to be distributed, and medical personnel allocated. The baseliner side of UNF chose to go along with, and authorized baseliners in the UNF with medical and emergency response training to be brought there. The astrahus, to tell you the truth was a bit of an afterthought, though a large afterthought at that."

[Hoovand]
"Certainly large enough to gain the ire of the Sang Do caste. Care to go into details about what the UNF is currently doing in light of the ultimatum laid out by them?"

[Lauralite]
"From what we can tell, the astrahus is not the main cause for their ultimatum, but it was instead the deployment of the groundhub, which was our primary planetside staging for supplies and personnel. As their ultimatum specifically mentions ground operations. The groundhub itself complied with the only stipulation the Sang Do had for planetary infrastructure, that it be a fair distance away from any exile settlements, but he UNF, despite disagreeing with the ultimatum itself, respects the sovereignty of the Jin-Mei, and the Sang-Do, by extension. We’ve been, over the interim, making preparations to leave planetside operation, as much as it pains me, and others to do so, selling off the groundhub, and transferring our now rather extensive stockpile of aid supplies to the Aidonis Foundation."

[Hoovand]
"Selling the facility? So they don’t want you dismantling it? Only to unoccupy it?"

[Lauralite]
"We were informed only to cease operations and pull from the surface, no specific instructions otherwise were given. We’ve continued treating individuals through the duration of the ultimatum while slowly pulling out."

[Hoovand]
"So at this point you’re just riding out the clock?"

[Lauralite]
"Unfortunately, yes. We’ve made repeated attempts to reach out to the Sang-Do caste privately over the past two weeks, but they’ve all been met with silence. Most recently, we’ve attempted a public call to the Sang-Do to allow humanitarian efforts to continue."

[Hoovand]
"Do you think any less of the Sang Do caste for such resistance against your efforts to help these people?"

[Lauralite]
"I can’t say that I do, no. The Jin-Mei as a whole are a people steeped in their traditions and beliefs, and while I may disagree with the Sang-Do, and how they’ve acted thus far, the Lirsautton system is THEIR sovereign ground. Their home system, and the UNF, at the very least to them, is not just a capsuleer entity interfering, but a foreign entity interfering as well. With how quickly we mobilized to respond, to an exile world in their home system no less, and adding in the other outspoken group… assisting while it could, then it’s truly a wonder they haven’t been more drastic in their own response."

[Hoovand]
"So you’d say their cold reaction to your actions isn’t worst case scenario - far from it in fact"

[Lauralite]
"Indeed, I’d even go so far to say that a two week span to remove assets from planetside instead of immediate cease and desist was even generous."

[Hoovand]
"In the time you’ve been present planetside on Lirusatton VI, have you witnessed anything that’s moved you…emotionally?”

[Lauralite]
"The few times I was able to go planetside, I’d say that yes. These exiles, many have been there for decades, with little I’ve not interacted with any directly, but watching them interact with each other, they’ve banded together to make the most of their misfortunes, and most have done nothing but be cooperative with UNF’s groundside aid staff. They truly seem to have accepted whatever wrongs they may have committed in the past."

[Hoovand]
"Do you have any kind of story to share from what you’ve seen?"

[Lauralite]
"Hm… well, one does come to mind. I never learned their names, but a group of three came in, they were among the first patients to come through. Two men, and a woman. One of the men was quite advanced in age, it was clear he’d seen much in his time, and the other two were roughly into their early thirties if I were to guess correctly. It was clear they had no familial relation, but the older treated both almost like a father would his children, smiling and trying to make light of things, even as he had to be supported by the other gentleman. A family of circumstance, but a family nonetheless."

[Hoovand]
"Fascinating…Now we’re getting to the point where we’re out of time, i thank you for coming here and i’d like to open the floor to you to make any last statement. Anything you want to say that we didn’t get to cover."

[Lauralite]
"I would like to thank all those who have contributed to the humanitarian efforts thus far, and I truly would like to thank you for inviting me here Mr. Lindus."

[Hoovand]
“Not a problem, have a safe trip home”

Patriarch orders immediate transfer of control of Lirsuatton VI facility from Lucrative Excavations to Salvaged Fortune Industries for deconstruction

Lirsautton VI

October 24th YC 120

Huan Yaken, the Patriarch of the Zaibatsu has just commenced the immediate transfer of control of the Lirsuatton VI ground base, from Lucrative Excavations to Salvaged Fortunes Industries.

Monden Searbier was recently given permission to take Lucrative Excavations and pursue an independent mission in the Lirsuatton system that involved the purchase of a groundbase facility already established by a third party. The facility previously belonged to the Capsuleer/Baseliner hybrid organization known as the United Neopian Federation. Their presence on the world was allowed in order to supply humanitarian relief to the locals. After resistance from the Sang Do caste of the Jin-Mei Nation however, they were ordered to unoccupy the planet’s surface and withdraw all assets. In an interview with UNF-A Capsuleer Lauralite Brezia on the 20th of October, Lauralite mentions the possibility of disposing of the UNF owned ground base though a sale. It was here Monden Searbier, CEO of Lucrative Excavations, approached the Patriarch and requested permission to pursue an independent project by purchasing the facility from the UNF. It is assumed the Patriarch agreed with the idea as he has given Monden his blessing.

It was then revealed to the wider public at large by Monden Searbier that Lucrative Excavations hosting a survey for Federal citizens about whether they agree or disagree with the merits of a compliment of a living Sang-Do. This bizarre and rather subversive plan proved to be faulty and has became a bit of an embarrassment for the Patriarch, as elders of House Yaken criticize the trust he place in Monden’s idea. The plan was so flawed that it had to be overhauled the day the doors to the facility opened. After only three days of being controlled by Lucrative Excavations, the plan has become one of the largest regrets of the Patriarch.

The Patriarch made this announcement to comment on the turn of events.

“I may be a man in a position to cast my blame onto others for failures. The truth is, however, that this embarrassment never would’ve happened if I hadn’t gone along with Monden’s idea and supplied him the funding to make it happen. However, instead of tucking my tail behind my legs and trying to cover this up and pray history forgets it, I’m going to make the best of the situation, get my money’s worth out of this foolish purchase and have a bit more wisdom for the future as i acknowledge my mistake here. As Patriarch and majority shareholder of Lucrative Excavations, I’m ordering the immediate transfer of the facility to Salvaged Fortune Industries to - no pun intended - salvage this disaster.

  • Huan Yaken

While details are scarce and behind doors, what is known is that Salvaged Fortunes is starting to mobilize personnel and equipment essential for deconstruction down to the ground base of Lirsautton VI. This unnamed base is also being given the codename “Tanri” to provide it an identity from this point on.

The fact that UNF staff are just now full evacuation of personnel and equipment further adds to the utter disorganization of this whole plan. Instead of starting the cycle over again of removing Lucrative Excavation staff and replacing them with Salvaged Fortunes workers, the staff of Lucrative Excavations will stay on Lirsuatton VI and aid with the transfer process. Thanks to the already existing infrastructure in the form of several starports, a warehouse, command center, and stock of food supplies, Salvaged Fortunes has everything they need for a smooth salvaging operation. Chief Fabricator Viokoro Velan will select a trusted staff member to overseer the process while Akels Searbier is to return to Hoiyori immediately.

Representatives of other CORE modules have expressed their disappointment in pulling out. The Matron of the Ohrion Conglomerate has explained to ZANIE reporters the of wanting to establish research camp out there during the decommission and record any local wildlife or flora on the world. Auljam Karvose of Karvose Collaboration Studios had his expressed his interest to use the exotic environments for a holo-reel that collaborators of the Studio are working on.

Auljam Karvose provided this quote.

“So we got this slice-of-life drama that follows the life of pioneers on some lushish green underdeveloped world, out to build a new home away from the politics and civil strife of the four Empires. We have the perfect opportunity to have an authentic and real atmosphere for this holo-reel, we don’t gotta resort to any fake computer generated scenes if we get permission to film out there! A-And don’t get me wrong, Namiyo is a fine place to film! But…Just to urbanized, y’know?”

  • Auljam Karvose

ZANIE can report that Auljam’s Karvose’s request has been swiftly declined by the Patriarch, while the Ohrions had their request to set up a camp during the decommissioning declined as well. It is assumed this decision is an attempt at damage control to avoid another mistake. Currently, the only personnel on this world either belong to Salvaged Fortunes, Lucrative Excavations, or the Myrskytuuli Regiment. The Regiment presence is purely to provide security during the decommissioning process and turn away anyone that shows up to Lucrative Excavation’s “survey”. The deconstruction process is estimated to last a weel, afterwhich all recovered material will be sent up to space and transported back to Hoiyori to use in future endeavors.

Neither Monden Searbier nor Akels Searbier are available for comment

Ships sail from the eastern coast of Namiyo once more as ban is lifted

Nannaras X

October 27th YC 120

The Myrskytuuli Regiment has lifted the ban preventing ships from sailing from the eastern coast.

This decision was made after a notable dip in Hoiyori’s food stocks was detected and a abundance of reports about brawls and theft in the over crowded docks along the eastern coast of Namiyo. The chokehold this ban had on fishermen activity would’ve sooner or later became costly and bring into question if the Regiment is over zealous with it’s protections. The ban was initially put in place after several fishing boats began vanishing at sea with all hands onboard. The causes behind these disappearances ended up being a massive drone with makeshift tentacles. A “Sea-Monster” that has been recently dubbed “Keiso” by local sailors. The Myrskytuuli Regiment had avoided giving the machine a name out of principle, but have tapped out and officially adopted the nickname conjured up for the sake of clarity in reports on the ongoing hunt for it.

It’s been at least two weeks since Regiment dropship pilots encountered Keiso for the first time. Since then there has been no sight or sound of the metallic behemoth. The hunt for Keiso has been delegated into the hands of a drone hunting unit in the Regiment called “De-bug", an outfit that has all the necessary resources it needs to remove any and all drone entities that threaten the property and people of the Zaibatsu. Despite the resources, De-bug’s efforts have turned up fruitless. The hunt will go on, but traffic off the eastern coast will begin flowing again while the situation is being closely monitored.

Involved with this development is Viokoro Velan sparking back up the discussion about stripping the Myrskytuuli Regiment’s responsibility of law enforcement and creating a separate entity with more sensitive training to become the official police force of the Zaibatsu. When Viokoro originally brought up the subject about stripping the responsibility of law enforcement from the Regiment, the talks were to be postponed until the investigation behind the missing boats concluded. However she argues the investigation was closed as soon as the matter was handed off to De-bug, a division that has only been seen in military operations and have not shown any involvement with law enforcement since being formed. Viokoro’s eagerness to get the subject back into discussion comes from the recent story about the arrest of the smuggler that’s been moving soda products into Hoiyori. Viokoro highlights how Regiment personnel in the chase opened fire on a fleeing non-violent criminal in a highly populated area with fully automatic firearms. She calls this a “Textbook example of excessive force”

With the next meeting of CORE module representatives right around the corner as October comes to a close, this subject will undoubtedly be brought up and may very well be decided on in that meeting. Not seemingly to eager to join in the debate however is Lucrative Excavations CEO Monden Searbier who was recently responsible for an embarrassing venture in the Lirsuatton system. This, happening after Monden was quoted by ZANIE to be determined to “Hold the Patriarch’s feet to the fire.” regarding this.

More news related to the eastern coast of Namiyo Is the clean sweep of the surrounding islands in legal vicinity of Namiyo. The Myskytuuli Regiment began combing the islands for any caches left by the soda smuggler mentioned previously. Given how the smuggler had access to a boat on the eastern coast indicated that he was bringing in goods from the eastern coast. Either though one of the islands, or from the Ishukone owned landmass of X-ZFA12. The Regiment has reported that the smuggler appears to have no ties to any organization and was operating independently, thus the idea of Ishukone being behind the smuggling is ludicrous. Though it does highlight a problem of supplies coming in from an area that’s outside their jurisdiction. A problem that is smaller in comparison to the grander issue responsible for this - the planetary customs office in orbit of Namnaras X belongs to the Capsuleer alliance “Salt Farmers”,. If this customs office ended up in control of the Zaibatsu, it would be much easier to get containment on smuggling operations across the plant. Obtaining the office on the other hand is a goal out of reach for the Zaibatsu due to a dangerously low presence in space. With the structure also in the hands of Capsuleers, the Regiment would have to look into enlisting more Capsuleers to take it over. Currently however, there exists an ongoing debate about the hypocrisy of the Zaibatsu having two Capsuleers already in service despite promoting values that go against the use of cybernetics. The Zaibatsu will have to first address this controversy before expanding ranks. A task, that looks to last for the foreseeable future.

ZANIE will be on guard for any new development

Interview Galm Eskola-Fea on Warclone culture and Bosena Accords

Nannaras X

October 28th YC 120

ZANIE recently has started inviting speakers from outside the Zaibatsu to sit down for an interview. We look out for independent parties who are out there in New Eden doing things on their terms, without any of the four Empires. ZANIE brings representatives of these parties out here to Hoiyori to speak their mind, to give them a platform to get more information of what they represent out there to the public. And this time around ZANIE has found an independent party in New Eden with ambitions and the determination to see them though. Hoovand Lindus of ZANIE sits down with Galm Eskola-Fea of the Bosena Accords. An organization dedicated to looking out for the interest of Warclones and creating a safe haven for them to seek refuge in.

We go now to a transcript of that interview

[Hoovand]
"Tonight, visiting us from the region of Molden Heath. Veteran Warclone and founder of the safe haven for other Warclones, Bosena Accords. He is Galm Eskola-Fae! Galm we thank you for coming in, tell me how you’re feeling"

[Galm]
"Honored to be here to speak about our organization. It’s so rare that we are given the chance of proper representation by most media, so I’m very excited to answer any questions you or your viewers may have on the current nature of us and Warclones in general."

[Hoovand]
"Speaking of which, this is certainly an interesting time in my career. First i talk with a Capsuleer for the first time, now i get to meet a Warclone for the first time…I’ve come to learn that Capsuleers aren’t that different or threatening when they’re not in a starship, but with you? I assume this is your natural environment, face-to-face"

[Galm]
"Well, helmet-to-helmet at least yes. In all seriousness, even when I find ourselves on opposite sides of the firing line against an enemy I suspect the experience is quite a bit more intimate and personable than interactions with and between capsuleers. I think that’s why as warclones, we have managed to come together so well, it’s hard to be a dick to someone when you can place a name to face… Which I suppose is why I’m here today."

[Hoovand]
"Yes, which actually brings me to this question. Ever since i spoke with a Capsuleer for the first time and did a bit more research in their activities. I’ve become morbidly curious about their social behavior. Capsuleers have this "tribal" nature to them where they only care about other Capsuleers in their group and anyone outside of it cannot be trusted and a potential threat by default. Where with Warclones, you’ve all grown in a much different atmosphere. You’ve all forged some "Warrior’s bond" from years of fighting one another in battle after battle. There’s a mutual connection between you and another Warclone…Would you disagree?"

[Galm]
"Not at all. I would go so far as to argue that the bonds between many of the warclone clans that make up the Bosena Accords are closer than those shared between many Caldari statesmen or Gallente citizens. Yes, we come from various backgrounds and upbringings and for a time many of us fought against each other under the banner of one Empire or another. But that’s changed in time. After the war in Molden Heath, that shared experience of individual mercenaries coming together to form their own banners did quite a bit to dislodge old allegiances. Race and creed mean very little for most of us. What’s far more important are those that you’ve shared a foxhole with."

[Hoovand]
“Tell me more about the conflicts in Molden Heath. From what i understand the Thukker Tribe invited Warclones to occupy the planets of the region in an effort to clamp down on pirate activity. Though I’m lead to believe Warclone involvement in that region became something bigger than simply removing pirates. You found independence out there, a chance to take control of your own fates, no?"

[Galm]
"A fundamental misunderstanding among most non-Warclones was that the settlement and conquest initiatives within Molden Heath were purely the result of aggressive action by the mercenaries that the Thukker invited. Yes, the Thukker invited Warclones into the region in an effort to act as a deterrent against piracy. But part of the deal was that mercenaries would be permitted to settle many of the planets in underdeveloped districts. These districts were granted to us legally, and conflicts between mercenaries in these districts were authorized by CONCORD under rules of limited engagement."

[Hoovand]
"So did CONCORD kept a tight leash on Warclone movement and action?"

[Galm]
"CONCORD made a deliberate point of keeping us contained to Molden Heath whenever possible and monitoring operations. In my opinion, they had reasoned that Molden Heath would serve as an experiment on idea of granting Warclones sovereignty and autonomy as capsuleers are."

[Hoovand]
"So would I be stepping out of line if I said Warclones were seen as some second-class Empyrean?"

[Galm]
"I wouldn’t object to that, personally. We were a new variable that frightened them, perhaps justifiably so given that all this was coming off the heels of the Templars and the war for Caldari Prime. They wanted to make sure that new variable was properly accounted for rather than letting it loose on the world."

[Hoovand]
"But where do you stand on the issue? You answer from a point of understanding CONCORD’s fear and considering it rational. As a Warclone however, do you wish your people had more freedoms and independence like the Capsuleers? "

[Galm]
"I’ll say this. The Directive Enforcement Department’s Mercenary Infomorph Act of YC115 firmly granted us the rights to fight as independents on behalf of sovereign militias, and effectively billed us with a status not unlike capsuleers as independent political entities. Yet while a capsuleer is granted the courtesy and respect of practically a nation-state in their own right, CONCORD has been unwilling to grant us the same freedoms despite their own laws and regulations. I believe that collaboration with CONCORD is essential for continued stability, but in exchange I believe many of my fellow Warclones have earned the privileges entitled to them under the Mercenary Infomorph Act."

[Hoovand]
"Which - I believe finally brings us to Bosena Accords. For those not in the know, could you explain what it is from a legal standpoint, its purpose and it’s ultimate goal?”

[Galm]
"We began largely as a loose coalition of separate mercenary clans dedicated to establishing a ceasefire in Molden Heath. Since then our organization and ambitions have expanded quite a bit. Our main focus now is to act as a sort of united front for Warclone interests, and to work towards establishing the sort of haven and homeland originally promised to us by the Thukker for our kind. Project Avalon is our primary effort to establish such a homeland."

[Hoovand]
"What is Project Avalon?"

[Galm]
"Project Avalon involves a massive attempt to rotate former mercenaries out of the warzones of Molden Heath and instead bring them together for the purpose of creating a safe haven or refuge for our Warclones. To date we have a variety of footholds and outposts scattered across the region."

[Hoovand]
"So instead of putting your people to work doing what earn Warclones their fearsome reputation, destruction and bloodshed planetside. You give them a productive use, to build the home the Thukkers promised you could make out on that frontier. With several footholds and outposts, would you say you’ve accomplished that dream? Or is there still a much grander vision for this homeland you speak of?"

[Galm]
"No. No, not yet. The outposts are helpful, and they provide enough facilities to keep our people safe and occupied for the time being. But outposts are vulnerable to attack from pirates, something we discovered the hard way during our initial attempts to establish our foothold in space. Moreover, outside the walls of our citadel the future of Warclones is still questionable. Avalon may be a refuge, but its just as much a prison until we can firmly establish our own little piece of sovereignty free of outside influence. Avalon can’t just be a facility. It has to be a nation, capable of standing on its own and dealing diplomatically with the outside world."

[Hoovand]
"And is this mission making progress? Are you any much closer to obtaining that sovereignty and prestige of being a fully fledged nation than when you started?"

[Galm]
"We’ve formed a government, established diplomatic relations, and have collectively agreed to a set of codes and regulations to ensure rule of law. By all accounts, we act as a nation. The only thing we have left to achieve is the establishment of sovereign territory outside of Molden Heath and secure international recognition. Given that the planets of Molden Heath are an integral part of the Minmatar Republic and not likely to be ceded to former mercenaries however we may soon be faced with the decision to move our operations elsewhere."

[Hoovand]
"Speaking of government, a recent restructuring was announced?"

[Galm]
"Absolutely. Prior to this restructuring the Bosena Accords operated under a vague system of free-association with radically decentralized power and an ineffectual government. It was inefficiency by design, intended to make the Bosena Accords less of a military alliance and far more of a neutral council where multiple mercenary corporations could coordinate on equal footing. This system was very effective during the earlier years when I acted as the de facto executive of the Bosena Accords, but we found that it does a poor job of providing all the support needed for an undertaking like Project Avalon. At first I was opposed to many of these changes on principle alone, but I came around to seeing the benefits of such an arrangement so long as liberty of independent Warclones within the Accords were not infringed."

[Hoovand]
"But it appears there’s another reason for this decision? With the announcement there was mention of a "Case Green Magic". Could you by chance go into detail about why this is a concern of the accords? Maybe enlighten us to what it is?"

[Galm]
"I’m not certain I’m entirely qualified to speak on behalf of CONCORD, but the circumstances surrounding Case Green Magic are worrying. With ship disappearances in Molden Heath becoming commonplace and talks of boarding parties circulating… It wouldn’t be the first time someone could easily point the finger at us and claim Warclones are responsible for these actions. In that regard I’m almost relieved at the rumors of Nation involvement and that it isn’t a rogue band of mercenaries."

[Hoovand]
"We’re starting to run out of time on this interview, but are you at liberty to say what the Accords relationship is like with CONCORD? Or with the Big Four for that matter? With the initial fear of Warclones being blamed for these incidents, is there some uneasy trust? Are any of these entities looking for an excuse to clamp down further on Warclones?"

[Galm]
"Gods and spirits that’s a lot of ques-- Look, I’ve repeatedly said on record that our relationship with CONCORD may be dodgy given their past behavior it’s absolutely essential that we work with them to make sure of our continued success. The Big Four are a non-issue, with our charter explicitly requiring us to make a continued commitment to neutrality between these factions, and any action taken against us I am just as likely to attribute to the independent actions of a CONCORD that isn’t being held accountable to adhere to their own laws put in place to protect Warclones. Instead of antagonizing them over it however, we must take this chance to work with them and help each other grow and be better."

[Hoovand]
"Interesting…Now, as i said, we’re almost out of time so we need to wrap this up. But I’d like to give you the floor to give us one last comment to close on. Say whatever is on your chest that you want out there.

[Galm]
"I’d just like to say to any Warclones out there in exile or separated from the Accords, you don’t have to hide any longer. There is a place for you in Avalon, and we will work to provide a safe home for you with your comrades. The days of mercenary warlords are over, but that doesn’t mean the age of the warclone is passed. This is just the start, and you can be a part of that."

[Hoovand]
"Galm Eskola-Fae, it was an honor to have you here. I thank you for setting aside the time to come down here. I hope you have a safe trip home"

[Galm]
"Thank you for having me Hoovand, this has been a great experience. Rikaato, hivaa saitsuo!"

Multiple stripped ship frames discovered at the bottom of the sea - Linked to the rogue drone sea monster “Keiso”

Nannaras X

October 31st YC 120

De-bug hasmade some disturbing discoveries that can be linked to the rogue drone sea monster named “Keiso” that is terrorizing the waters of Nannaras X.

Myrskytuuli Regiment’s elite battalion of drone hunting experts “De-bug" have been assigned to watch over both the eastern and western coast of Namiyo for any signs of rogue drone activity as well as any trace of the crew members of lost fishing boats. Most notably they’re looking for signs of Keiso, a massive aquatic drone that has been at large ever since it was first encountered by Regiment forces almost a month ago. Ever since that encounter however, Keiso has not made another appearance. This lack of appearance has recently prompted the Regiment to lift a ban in ace preventing ships from sailing off the eastern coast to avoid putting civilians at risk of encountering Kesio while out at sea.

With De-bug diving into the deep blue however, fears about letting ships travel freely are reignited. Deep divers have begun discovering multiple ship derelicts on the seafloor. Frames of ships as big as sea-freighters have been located with signs of rust and corrosion suggesting they’ve been here for years, long since the Zaibatsu come to Nannaras X. These frames are literally picked clean, plating is gone, plumbing is gone, computer systems are gone, everything is removed but the frames themselves. Among the derelicts, the frame of one of the fishing boats previously reported lost at sea was found, with no remains of it’s crew to be seen. The vast majority of these ship frames however were never used by the Zaibatsu and there’s no traces as to who these ships originally belong to.

Theories suggest Keiso is responsible for these stripped derelicts. The theory holds merit as its it’s in a rogue drone’s corrupted programming to start infesting other machinery. This is in evidence where we see rogue drones nesting in stations in space and infecting every corner of it to become a hive. So it’s highly plausible that Keiso has been hunting boats in order to salvage the parts and add onto itself. This would explain how the tentacle the Regiment recovered after their first engagement was a makeshift mess of different metals and mesh. However, to attribute the derelicts to Keiso alone is to also accept the chilling fact that Keiso has been here for awhile and had years to grow into the metallic behemoth it is today. There’s no telling how many more derelicts exist over all of Nannaras X, but as of right now - De-bug divers have discovered 17 different frames on the seafloor.

Now with the assumption that Keiso is targeting ships for growth, there’s a concern about letting ships travel freely again off the eastern coast. However with the noticeable drop in available food in stock and a spike in unrest in the crowded docks, the Regiment will have to stick with their decision to lift the ban and keep a close eye on all ships at sea.

The Myrskytuuli Reigment’s goal is to find and destroy the machine so it may no longer pose a threat to the people. However back in Hoiyori, some people don’t see Keiso as a threat and deem the Regiment to be the true aggressors. A small minority of colonists (With upbringings in the Gallente Federation) have voiced their concern for the machine’s “life" and are working to gain support to get the Myrskytuuli Regiment to back off and let the machine be as it is. They suggest that Keiso has only been acting in self defense and hunting ships for its survival. The drone’s efforts to stay hidden is so it could be left alone but the Regiment insists on tracking it down to kill it. They wager a “truce" with the machine can be reached if they offered it unmanned ships to consume so that it would never have hunt Zaibatsu ships again. This minority is allowed this opinion and allowed to speak it, but any interference in the Regiments efforts to destroy the machine will be swiftly punished.

ZANIE would like to remind not only colonists of Hoiyori, but any readers out there in New Eden. That rogue drones cannot be reasoned with, there is no diplomacy to be had with them. They think in a limited capacity of zeros and ones and have no empathy for human life. It is a delusion to think any machine has obtained “sentience” - all they have is corrupted programming that orders them to operate outside their intended purpose. The most suitable course of action for this type of machinery is to be scrapped and recycled. Or obliterated to ensure the safety of all colonists.

ZANIE will monitor this story for any developments.

Wrestling instructor Foley Jones reported missing

Nannaras X

November 1st YC 120

Seasoned professional wrestling expert Foley Jones has mysteriously vanished without trace of him to be found.

Foley Jones is a professional wrestler hired by Auljam Karvose to help spearhead his pitch of establishing a professional wrestling brand in the Raata Zaibtsu. While his pitch at the first official Bejawl on the 1st of June was extremely ill received, Auljam has continued to push for the establishment of a brand. Recently having started a low-funded program under the Karvose Collaboration Studio banner. Inviting interested individuals to sign up and be trained in the ways of a professional wrestler with Foley Jones and Himri Besi (Ring name is Lostar Brali)as experienced instructors.

However, Auljam Karvose has recently reported to the Myrskytuuli Regiment that Foley Jones has gone missing as nobody has seen or managed to get in contact with Jones in the past two days. The first person to notice Jones’ abrupt absence was Himri Besi on the 29th of October when Jones failed to show up to class to help him teach the students apart of the program. Neither Himri or Karvose could get in contact with Jones that day but effectively dropped the subject and carried on without him. Then the same thing happens again the next day, prompting Auljam Karvose to file a report in with the Regiment of a missing VIP. More specifically, Auljam suggests that Jones was kidnapped despite there being little to no evidence to suggest that.

“The man undoubtedly made some enemies in his time. Practically unavoidable when you were once some badass immortal super soldier working for the highest bidder. Whatever it be with other immortal badasses or with the mortals you screw over after raiding some facility on some planet, killing all the guards inside and blowing it up into the next dimension. T-T-This disappearance of my man Foley has to be related to this stuff! There’s no way he’d just walk out on me without saying a word. He was very eager to work for me, always came in on time! Then he suddenly just disappears? Its sketchy man.”

  • Auljam Karvose

For context for what Auljam Karvose is talking about. Foley Jones was formerly an empyrean Warclone that was in active service for multiple years until the shutdown of the network his kind used to receive contracts and communicate with one another. Foley would retire from this career and find a new passion in the form of professional wrestling - which leads us to today.

While Auljam Karvose suspects foul play, Himri Besi provided a lengthy statement that suggests Foley Jones willing made himself disappear and leave Hoiyori.

“So it’s Sunday, right? I come in and get ready for class, I think the lesson for that session was about how to sell an injury? W-Whatever, point is I come to the gym we practice in, right? I walk into the locker room and Foley is there with some man I never seen before and there’s two Regiment officers right outside. Now in my head I’m like ‘Who the ■■■■ is this guy? What’s going on here?’ but carry on with getting my gear, interrupt to ask Foley ‘Hey, where did you store the steel chairs?’ and he tells me, yada yada the day moved on, I didn’t dig my nose in his business. I get my quarters that night, check the local news and see this interview ZANIE did with this Galm Eskola-Fae guy and when I saw his picture it hit me like a brick - THAT was the guy I saw talking to Foley. This founder of this refuge for Warclones or something, this broad shoulder Civire that you know has seen some ■■■■ just by glancing at him.

  • Himri Besi (Ring name Lostar Brali)

Galm Oskola-Fae was recently invited down to Hoiyori by ZANIE to take part in a interview and tell us more about the organization he proudly represents, the Bosena Accords. With any empyrean guest in Hoiyori, they are escorted by Mryskytuuli Regiment personal. This is purely for security and not for containment, guests are allowed the freedom to explore the colony at their leisure and make requests, such as Galm having made a request to speak with an old associate, Foley Jones. This request was granted and the VIP was escorted to meet Foley at the gym and given privacy to speak to one another.

Himri continues

“Now I always knew of Foley’s background - EVERYONE knew his background. He was one It was practically the reason he got over with the crowd so well, it worked perfectly for a wrestling gimmick. This kind of background also drove him to put his body on the line more than anyone I ever worked in the ring with. I mean he’s been shot, stabbed, strangled, blown up, crushed by tanks, thrown off tall buildings - KILLED at least a thousand times…This man walked into this business with no fear. You needed a guy to take a bump off the top of the cell in a Hell in a Cell match into the Amarrish announce table? Foley was the first man to volunteer. And I’m not even saying that as some example, he DID do that one time. I thought the man was dead right then and there! Or broken in half at the very least…But I digress, Foley was a Warclone much like this man ZANIE interviewed. And I’m just put two and two together and saying that whatever this man was saying to Foley made him make the decision to jump ship and get out of here and honestly?..Can’t blame him, this whole idea for a wrestling brand Auljam gots planned is bit of a sinking ship and I can’t wait for my contract to expire…But knowing Foley’s past? Yeah, he can take of himself after walking out under contract.”

  • Himri Besi (Ring name Lostar Brali)

The Myskytuuli Regiment is obligated to take these reports seriously, but are turning up no leads on a kidnapping. There were no signs of struggle or forced entry in Foley’s quarters, no sign of him on security footage of areas he frequents and no sight of him at starport security. Plus with Himri’s statement it looks more and more like Foley Jones willing departed from Hoiyori. The case is still open but is slowing down with each hour. As for the matter of Foley dishonoring his contract with Karvose Colloboration Studios, The Regiment has labeled it “Not a concern”.

With Himri Besi’s contract expiring in December and Foley Jones nowhere to he seen, Auljam’s plan of starting a wrestling brand are steadily sinking as his last remaining instructor will be out of the picture very soon. Auljam has made plans to show off the prospects trained in the next Bejawl on the 1st of December, but now it looks like none of them will be ready for the big event. After getting the quote from Auljam however, he’s stated that he’s still determined to impress the colonists of Hoiyori and the Patrairch at the next Bejawl. That he was ‘gonna teach these students himself if he gots to’.

ZANIE will provides updates on this story if they develop

Myrskytuuli Regiment no longer to be responsible for law enforcement - Proper police department now being formed.

Nannaras X

November 6th YC 120

The council meeting of CORE module representatives for November has become a game changer for the Zaibatsu.

For the council meeting for the month of October, Viokoro Velan made a plea to the Patriarch to consider stripping the responsibility of law enforcement from the Myrskytuuli Regiment and establishing a new entity to patrol the colonies and space bound structures of the Zaibatsu. Viokoro argued that Regiment personnel assigned to watch over Hoiyori were trained to be soldiers - not police officers. Then she went on to say the equipment given to Regiment soldiers keeping the peace was overkill as it was more suitable for a warzone than a populated colonly. To make matters worse, in the middle of October, several Myskytuuli Regiment soldiers opened fire in a densely populated area to stop a non-violent criminal from fleeing, giving merit to Viokoro’s criticism of how the Regiment handles law enforcement. As well as some supporters among colonists of Hoiyori.

We have a select comment from concerned colonists regarding this.

“It’s disturbing, everytime you walk somewhere, if be work, the marketplace or walking your kids to school - There’s some man or woman on edge in gear i’ve never even seen before. Are we dangerous or something? Are the owners here spooked about something? Not to mention these are trained killers, boot camp for the military is nowhere near the same thing for a police department. These people are trained to do two different jobs. Just because both of them involve totting weaponry around doesn’t mean they’re the same thing”

  • Concern Colonist

The meeting for November was almost entirely dedicated to the subject of taking this responsibility away from the Regiment. However instead of it being a heated debate of Whether or not they should take the responsibility away, It was a rather straightforward decision on the behalf of the Patriarch to call for the immediate formation of a police division with a chain of command separated from the Myrskytuuli Regiment.

Enter the Zaibatsu Peacekeeper Division, a dedicated law enforcement unit that answers directly to colony administration. In charge of this unit will be revered elder of House Yaken, Aunni Yaken. The Peacekeeping division will be made up of smaller divisions that will be managed by Superintendents hand selected by Aunni Yaken who will assume the mantle of Magistrate. These Superintendents will be selected from a pool of worthy members of House Yaken and be responsible for a subdivision that is responsible either for an entire colony or station (Ex. Hoiyori).

In the meeting, the subject of the Division’s armory was brought into question and a clear decision was made to ensure the Division had access to competent weaponry but it would be nowhere near what Regiment soldiers are given. The armory will be quite lightweight and more subtle. While some heavy duty firearms can be supplied - there will be a hard cap on how many the Division can have. In terms of who will be directly responsible for keeping the Division supplied - Instead of it being the Regiment, it will be the Stelmari Exchange. They will be fully responsible for inquiring needed equipment and supplying it.

A new training program will commence immediately as facilities are constructed to begin cycling out the Regiment soldiers currently patrolling the streets. It must be noted that the Regiment personnel assigned to peacekeeping will remain on the streets for the time being, but will report directly to the Division and adhere to the new equipment regulations. While some will be sent back to the Regiment once new qualified personnel are trained, some may be absorbed into the Division depending on their compatibility with the new regulations. With taht said, ZANIE would like to point out of an abundance of opening in this division that colonists are free to begin applying for.

The Peacekeeper Divsion will enter the Zaibatsu as a INFRASTRUCTURE module, a module variant in the Zaibatsu that purely functions in the Zaibatsu internally with no involvement with external or foreign affairs. An existing example would be the Kresh Root society, the agricultural module of the Zaibatsu.

Commenting on this turn of events, we have Viokoro Velan who had this to say

“I’m honestly quite pleased at how this turned out. It wasn’t some dramatic tense battle to get this though. The Patriarch heard my plea and took note of the problems this was creating. I may have criticism about them insisting on composing the entire upper echelon of the Division of family members much like the Regiment, but there’s some clear noticeable differences in this change that I’m grateful for. It’s a refreshing change that my voice is heard."

  • Viokoro Velan

ZANIE attempted to reach out to Myskytuuli Regiment’s Tokitu Yaken for his thoughts on this development, but denied commenting any further than “Accepting the decision made by his family’s Patrairch”

ZANIE will keep eyes open in it’s search for any new developments

Interview: Viokoro Velan on recent political victory and herself

Nannaras X

November 13th YC 120

In light of the recent decision made by the Patriarch to strip law enforcement from the Myrskytuuli Regiment’s list of responsibilities in response to criticism of the Regiment’s handling of it. ZANIE reaches out and gets in contact with the largest voice in the debate, Viokoro Velan. The Chief Fabricator of Salvaged Fortunes Industries. Viokoro would sit down for a talk to give further insight on her motives to challenge the Regiment and reveal more information about herself.

We go now to a transcript of the conversation between Viokoro Velan and Hoovand Lindus

[Hoovand]
“Tonight, sitting across from me is Chief Fabricator of Salvaged Fortune Industries - Viokoro Velan. Viokoro, thank you for coming in. Care to tell me how you’re feeling after your political victory?”

[Viokoro]
“Political vic- Woah, woah-ho-ho let’s uh…How about we slow down for a second Hoovand? You’re starting of…A little to aggressive maybe?”

[Hoovand]
“I’m sorry?”

[Viokoro]
“A political victory? That’s a little extreme don’t you think?”

[Hoovand]
“Is that not what this is?”

[Viokoro]
“No, that’s not what I would call this. I wasn’t trying to get 1-up on anyone, I was just pointing out a glaring flaw in the Zaibatsu and well…It got corrected.”

[Hoovand]
“But you’re at least satisfied the Patriarch sided with your arguments in the debates leading up to his final decision?”

[Viokoro]
“He didn’t-…Sure Hoovand, I’m satisfied. Let’s go with that.”

[Hoovand]
“Alright, now I want to know why this was such a huge concern to you. One large enough to give you the courage to speak your mind.”

[Viokoro]
“It’s…Not obvious to you? You don’t see the immediate red flag that is having our supposive military force also be the cops on the street? Enforcing the law with military grade equipment? With military training? There’s tons of people that came here that share my concern - just none of them has a line to guy in charge here like I do.”

[Hoovand]
“So in a way you spoke on the behalf of the people?”

[Viokoro]
“Nobody appointed me to speak on their behalf, I simply just shared their fear and said what I had to say.”

[Hoovand]
“Do you not think now that our officers’ equipment has been downgraded there will be a new fear emerging? One were our first responder will be under trained and equipped to deal with external threats?”

[Viokoro]
“No-…No one gives a ■■■■ about us.”

[Hoovand]
“Viokoro, please. There are plenty of parties that won’t discriminate against us being a target. Blood Raiders for example, opportunist pirates like the Angel Cartel or even Sansha’s Nation who will pluck planets dry of its population. These threats deserved to be treated to out capable troops in the Regiment”

[Viokoro]
“So have a military base setup nearby? I don’t see why there’s gotta be - armed to the teeth - soldiers in front of the local cafe and having to be the guy someone talks to if they drop a piece of trash on the ground.”

[Hoovand]
“Certainly you’re not suggesting our soldiers would’ve done something extreme in a trivial case like that.”

[Viokoro]
“…I’m absolutely suggesting that, yes. I’m fully aware of how stingy administration here is about littering, there’s practically signs EVERYWHERE across Hoiyori warning against littering anywhere. Hell, there was a sign right outside the door to this studio.

[Hoovand]
“Well…Alright then, if you don’t mind I’d like steer us into a new topic. More specifically, I want to ask about your upbringing and learn more about who you are.”

[Viokoro]
“Alright, a little random but…Okay? What do you want to know?”

[Hoovand]
“You were born on a space station, correct?”

[Viokoro]
“Correct, me and my clan settled in a dinky station in a deadspace pocket in the Aldik system. Our trade was salvage, we would pick clean any wrecks or ruined outposts in the system made either by the Republic Fleet, pirates and eventually Capsuleers.”

[Hoovand]
“We all learn from the environment we are raised in. I take it from what you told me you found your interest in engineering here?”

[Viokoro]
“…In a manner of speaking. It was less of an interest and more of a job. I was to young to go on any salvage tug, but old enough to make minor repairs to the station we lived on. Then got bumped up to bigger repair jobs, then finally got put on a salvage tug when I was old enough and learned about different starship components and how to remove them, what they’re connected to and what that’s connected to as well…I may be biting off more than I can chew, but I’m almost positive I could assemble a functioning Reaper without a blueprint.”

[Hoovand]
“A bold claim, but one we don’t have time to test you on. Now would you say you miss this station? It would be your homelands so to speak, wouldn’t it?”

[Viokoro]
“The station got blown up years ago.”

[Hoovand]
“Oh…”

[Viokoro]
“Yeah, a Capsuleer did it in fact. I think the news article I saw covering it said something about the Capsuleer looking for “Deadspace Modules” or something, I dunno. My clan cleared out and I went off and got a job on another station long before that happened.”

[Hoovand]
“Well, that its very fortunate for you and your family to move out before this tragedy occurred. I do apologize for the loss of your home though.”

[Viokoro]
“Please, it was a fedo infested shithole. Glad I’ve put that place behind me. A shame that there people still aboard but…That’s just life in space.”

[Hoovand]
“Space is a very hostile environment. As the Windchimes put it, it’s the frontier that demands fortitude out of those seeking to carve a life out there…But having come planetside to Hoiyori. Would you say you prefer life aboard a station better than being planetside?”

[Viokoro]
“That’s…a tough question honestly. I’m more familiar and comfortable with the recycled air and cramped corridors you find on a station. But having come here? I have to say I like it, it’s beautiful here. It’s like living in a painting almost, there’s just so much color here. Wide open spaces and flavorful air. I may not like the gravity all to much, but I certainly don’t hate being on this planet.”

[Hoovand]
“That’s good to hear, now I want to take a few steps and ask about your family, your uh…clan?”

[Viokoro]
“Yes, what about them?”

[Hoovand]
“Well, are any of them here in the colony?”

[Viokoro]
“No, they got no interest in coming over here, none of them would even get past the literacy test colony administration hands out.”

[Hoovand]
“Well that’s a shame, must be heartbreaking to be so far away from family.”

[Viokoro]
“Not really, I’ve gotten so use to being so far away from the nest that it doesn’t bother me anymore. If I wanted to chase after opportunities, it was something I had to get over.”

[Hoovand]
“And i assume that’s what you see your position in the Zaibatsu as? An opportunity?”

[Viokoro]
“That’s what I saw it as…I was formerly a blue collar grunt working for a neglectful company. Then I get an offer to be in charge of all industrial operations for an organization? Hell of a promotion to have land in your lap. Now I never saw myself as someone sitting at the top of a corporate ladder, but here I am…”

[Hoovand]
“Do you doubt your capabilities to lead the industrial division of the Zaibatsu?”

[Viokoro]
“No, i may not have any experience, but I know what needs to be done. I have all the power in this sector of the Zaibatsu and I have to use it responsibly. I have to look after the workforce put under my charge, make sure they have safe working conditions, fairly compensated, have access to people to talk to if they’re having trouble with management…I served time in the trenches of a factory with horrific conditions. I don’t want people to suffer though like I did and many others. By taking this position in the Zaibatsu, I’m becoming the leader I would’ve wanted and giving my all to the workers i’m responsible for."

[Hoovand]
“Well said, Viokoro. Now I regret to be the bearer of bad news, but we’re running out of time. Viokoro, do you have any final remarks?”

[Viokoro]
“Nah, I don’t gotta anything I need to say”

[Hoovand]
“Very well then. Viokoro Velan, it was an honor speaking to you.”

[Viokoro]
“Likewise, I suppose.”

Grand Feast to be hosted on the 23rd in honor of the hard working and dedicated farmers and ranchers of the Kresh Root Society

Nannaras X

November 20th YC 120

This coming Friday, November 23rd, colonists of Hoiyori are all invited to join one another at the Commune Plaza for a festival in honor of the hard working men and women of the Kresh Root Society.

For the unaware, the Kresh Root Society is the collective of farmers and ranchers working the fields and stables of the Zaibatsu. They’re the unsung heroes that ensure every colonist in Hoiyori has fresh organic ingredients to cook delicious meals rich in nutrients for themselves or family members. On the 23rd, these individuals will be given the praise they rightfully deserve with a grand feast in their honor.

This call for celebration is in light of the bountiful harvest the Society has reaped this season. So bountiful in fact, that storage for food products has become so scarce that pallets loaded with product are going bad from being stored outside and exposed to the ever changing weather and temperatures. With that said, this festival serves another purpose to burn though this surplus stock being put out by the Kresh Root Society.

Despite the name, the Society produces far more than kresh roots and offers a wide variety of meats, vegetables, and fruits to cater to any palette regardless of ethnicity. Most of the produce is even native to Nannaras X, such as the Gumacha fruit, a green skinned fruit with a sourish taste that is high in vitamin B. Or the Mogo leak, a long vegetable that promotes good oral health by containing antibacterial components that can zap any bacteria residing on one’s teeth. These are but two examples on a impressive list of food items that can be cultivated in the soil of Nannaras X. A planet filled to the brim with exotic types of vegetation and wildlife that is still being documented to this day. Much of it can and will be released to any attendees that join in on the festivities on the 23rd with informational booths present to teach anyone about the local flora and fauna, offering deeper insight to their nutritional value and role in the ecosystem.

Farmers in attendance will be representing their homestead and will have the honor to meet our revered Patriarch and CORE council members during the festival,as well as a chance to meet some esteemed guests being invited down to Hoiyori to join the party and establish a stronger bond between the organizations they represent and the Raata Zaibatsu. In attendance will be @Galm_Eskola-Fae of the Bosena Accords, @Sterling_Blades of the United Neopian Federation and an invitation was sent to Sapphire Interstellar Capital Holdings to send a representative of their choice. These guests will implored to partake in the festivities, but will primarily be present in Hoiyori for a closed doors meeting between them and the Patriarch to discuss establishing a closer relationship between one another’s organizations. The exact details are unknown at the time, but ZANIE will be there to report on anything that comes of it.

Circling back over to the situation of to much food surplus to store, multiple root causes have been pointed out, such as the possibility that the Kresh Root Society are over zealously being funded and in turn expanding farmland and growing more produce than there are mouths to consume it all. On the other hand however this suggests that maybe the Zaibatsu is prepared to expand residential space to accommodate additional colonists with the comforting thought that they can produce enough food to sustain them. Unfortunately Namiyo is lacking optimal space for a new residential district and the ongoing talks to purchase the X-ZFA12 landmass are still moving slowly. Another possible issue, pointed out by Stelmari Oksasio, is the policies in place preventing his Exchange from taking some of the surplus and selling it on the open market to clear up warehouses and increase available funds for the Zaibatsu. The policy being referred to is a policy stating that the only module that should be responsible for distribution of food stock in the Zaibatsu is colony administration, with an exception made to the Myrskytuuli Regiment to enable them to have their own food for rationing out.

Stelmari had this to say

“We got all this fancy food native to this world we brag about, but we ain’t sharing it. Well, why don’t we for a price? You put some strange, odd lookin’ fruits or veggies in a market in say…the Federation? Yeah, it’s gonna sell pretty quickly. That vegan hipster crowd over there would buy this stuff out of my HANDS like i was peddling starcakes fresh out the oven. It’s all organic too! I would have absolutely zero problems selling this stuff.”

  • Stelmari Oksasio

Another festival right around the corner is the return of Auljam Karvose’s “Bejawl” were the artistic talent of the Karvose Collaboration Studio will be showcased for all colonists of Hoiyori to witness. As well as Auljam’s second chance to leave a good impression on the population with his continued efforts to establish pro-wrestling in the Zaibatsu. The second Bejawl is scheduled for the 1st of December, but word coming out of the mill is that Auljam is frantically trying to organize the event while preparing talent. A postponing of the event is potential, but cancellation is not a possibility as the Patrairch has expressed overwhelming approval of the first Bejawl aside from the blunderous “Main Event” that the event closed on. Overall, it fulfilled the purpose Auljam originally stated when he first revealed the event to the Zaibatsu, a chance for the creative and talented colonists to Hoiyori to show everyone what they can make.

ZANIE looks forward to the feast on the 23rd, and looks forward to any updates it brings.

Grand feast in honor of farmers concludes

Nannaras X

November 25th - YC 120

The grand feast honor of the hard working men and women of the Kresh Root Society ended in success! Stomachs were filled and a noticeable dent was made in the overflowing food stock. Men, women and children of Hoiyori all came to the Commune plaza and joined in the festivities, enjoyed the food, learned more about the ecosystem of Nannaras X, and paid their respects to the many farmers that attended.

The newly formed Peacekeeper Division was also present. While the current personnel of the Division are green and inexperienced, the event served as an excellent chance for the Division recruits to showcase what they learned in a population dense environment. These recruits had more experienced officers from the Regiment on standby in the event of the worst case scenario, but thankfully the Peacekeepers ensured any disruption in the crowds was swiftly dealt with. The Division is steadily growing as more colonists enlist to enforce the law in Hoiyori. The Division however is still a month or two off from being fully staffed and trained to take over law enforcement completely from the Myrskytuuli Regiment.

All representing figures of the CORE council were in attendance, including the Patriarch. All of them shook hands with the Society members on stage, and each council member expressed their gratitude for their service to the Zaibatsu and its people. After an exhausting amount of handshaking, the CORE council dispersed and joined in with the festivities as the Patriarch sat down and spoke with invited representatives of BOSAC, UNF-A, and S-ICH. Despite the event now being several days in the past, the details of their conversation have still not been made available to ZANIE and remain classified at this time. It’s suggested the talks ended on good terms as guest representatives Galm Eskola-fae and Sterling Blades were seen mingling with the crowd sometime later, speaking with farmers and partaking in some of the games present before departing Nannaras X as the event neared the end.

Zaven Horson, the elected representative of the Kresh Root Society, was of course present during the festivities and was approached by ZANIE reporters for his take on the celebrations.

“I’m…Fine with this. Truly, it’s a refreshing change of pace to not be seen as some redneck that talks in some outrageous accent on a backwater planet just because I spend my days digging through the dirt and tending to farm animals. That said, it feels like a little too much? I’m elected to speak for everyone - So I’d say we would’ve been fine with a simple thank you. Having all these people coming down here to eat more of our produce than the Soogs I have in the pens is flattering and all. But is this necessary? We’re just doing our jobs…”

  • Zazen Horson

The humble words of the elected representative of the society is evidence that the members of the Society voted responsibly for a candidate suitable not just for them, but the whole of the Zaibatsu.

Also in attendance, we had the spiritual guru of the Windchimes, Suha Rabuya. A woman who is no stranger to the workload our farmers bare on their shoulders due to her history of working a farm In her youth. Because of this, Suha has worked on maintaining a close relationship between her Windchimes and the Society. ZANIE approached her for a comment to get more insight into her immense support of the Society.

“It is thanks to these men and women that the Zaibatsu doesn’t have to resort to industrialized means to feed it’s people. The food we feed everyone here tonight is grown from the soil of a world created by the Maker. This the purest substance to give our bodies, rich in nourishment and void of any poison that is snuck in by the mega-corporations who churn out poorly made food products from their soulless cold steel factories to keep the masses weak and malnourished! Creating cheap imitations that do more damage than good to us just so they can line their wallets. These men and women however are noble individuals who work day in and day out to ensure we have the purest food to consume. For that, they have my eternal respect.”

  • Suha Rabuya

ZANIE would like to mention that Suha isn’t necessarily pointing at the Caldari State when mentioning “Mega-Corporations”.

While the event was a success, there still remains a problem with the lack of storage space for the ample amounts of produce being put out by the society. Stelmari is still keen on convincing the Patriarch to allow the Exchange to take ALL bulk on hand to sell on the open market of New Eden, to supply the Zaibatsu with additional funds. How Stelmari’s attempts will turn out will be seen when November comes to a close and the council meeting for the month of December begins.

No matter what, ZANIE will be on the lookout for any updates.

300 Syrikos hounds from the UNF to be rehomed in Hoiyori

Nannaras X

November 28th YC 120

ZANIE has received official details about the closed door meeting between the Zaibatsu Patriarch and representing figures of other independent parties on the 23rd of November. This is but a glimpse into the lengthy discussions and is not a full reviewal of the entire meeting.

A deal was struck between the Zaibatsu and the UNF-A to rehome 300 Syrikos hound cubs recovered from an illicit ‘puppy mill’ aboard the “Masariin Gazaar” in the Eugales system. The Syrikos hound is more commonly known as the Slaver hound for their extremely close relation with slavery in the Amarr Empire. Terrifyingly savage beasts that are a challenge to tame, but ultimately compatible with humankind as proven by their extensive history of domestication within Amarrian society.

The revealed minutes confirm the Patriarch had agreed to this deal with the benefit of this agreement being the Syrikos hounds themselves and a chance to show support to the UNF in good faith. The questionable use of this species has proven above all that the Syrikos hound is a competent animal that can fulfill unique roles for the Zaibatsu. As such, the cubs will be split between the Peacekeeper Division and the Kresh Root Society to be used in civil-service. Placing any of the cubs in Military-service is strictly forbidden by the arrangement made with UNF representative Sterling Blades.

The Syrikos have the potential to serve the Peacekeepers in tracking down and subduing suspects on the run or sniffing out contraband at customs checkpoints. They could also be useful in search and rescue operations out in the wilderness of Nannaras X. For the Kresh Root Society, the hounds can serve a pivotal role in ensuring farmlands operate even more smoothly with them the removing of any rodents damaging crops, herding livestock, or protecting them from wild predators roaming the planet.

In both cases a severe problem resides, the problem is that there is no qualified personal to properly train these cubs for their selected positions. Though ZANIE has word that the search for a third-party to come in and train them is already underway and that the Zaibatsu will ensure a esteemed organization will be hired for the job. Before sending them off to work however, the cubs must first come of age. It will be several months at best before any of these hounds see civil service. For the time being while trainers can be acquired, the cubs will be allowed a period to adjust to the conditions of this world. Beginning their education in this optimal age range will enhance the odds of a smooth transition into Zaibatsu society when they reach adulthood.

As for breeding, males and females will be separated for the time being and reproduction will be strictly controlled for the foreseeable future. These regulations may appear to be stiff, but are to ensure these cubs being rehomed in Hoiyori will enter the ecosystem of Nannaras X responsibly and be carefully monitored to ensure they can co-exist peacefully in the Zaibatsu before their population gets out of control. The Syrikos species has the potential to be as dangerous as it is useful, and are thus a potential threat to the security of Hoiyori.

By no means does the Zaibatsu see the Syrikos as evil creatures as popular culture in New Eden makes them out to be. The Syrikos is but another evolutionary product of the Maker’s universe. The hounds will be treated fairly and have proper living conditions and food.

Word of this arrangement between the Zaibatsu and the UNF has already been revealed to CORE council members. Most notably, Chief Fabricator of Salvaged Fortune Industries Viokoro Velan - who has already become the most vocal about the news. ZANIE reached out to Viokoro for a quote and received a firefly response from Viokoro brutally criticizing this decision made by the Patriarch.

"You want a quote from me? Okay, here’s one - This is ■■■■■■■ stupid and is going to blow up in our faces - plain and simple. When i saw that this deal was made with the knowledge that we didn’t have anyone with experience with Slaver Hounds, i was both shocked and terrified. "

"Shocked, because the Zaibatsu doesn’t have a specialist to pull out their ass for once and now have to put faith in someone else to get the job done. And terrified, because that means no one here will know what the ■■■■ they’re doing going into this deal. Whatever grander deal the Patriarch got us involved in better be worth it. Because what he’s had to agree to so far to make it happen looks like a bad deal to me. These twisted little fleabags aren’t meant to be good ol’ boys watching the farmland and stopping the bad guy - They’re meant to be evil little savage shitheads wanting to bite anything with a pulse. And we’re giving them to the police? Marvelous! Absolutely fuckin’ marvelous - here i thought we made some actual progress with all these new regulations and what not, but here they are getting a shipment of wild beasts to use now…”Subdue Suspects” my ass.”

  • Viokoro Velan

ZANIE would like to apologize for the profanity, but wanted to deliver Viokoro’s remarks word by word. Her words hold merit in how unprepared the Zaibatsu is for this deal. Challenges are an inevitably in life, such is the way. As such the Zaibatsu stands ready to face it head on.

ZANIE will report in on any future updates

Council meeting for December: Second bejawl Postponed

Nannaras X

December 1st YC 120

With every month comes another council meeting between the Patriarch and the representing leaders of the CORE modules. This meeting happened on the 30th of November and went over the statistics and progress of the and laid down new plans for the Zaibatsu as we enter the month of December.

The first biggest thing to report on is the second Bejawl will not be happening on December 1st as intaily planned and will instead be hosted on the 22nd of December. Leading up to this date there has been a lack of organization and professionalism from the Head Director of the Karvose Collaboration Studios, Auljam Karvose. Auljam had failed to submit any official scheduling for the day’s festivities and had neglected coordinating with colony administration to begin preparing the festival grounds before the 1st. Along with this, Auljam’s own health is now in question. Auljam Karvose arrived at the meeting an hour late, noticeably fatigued, pale and sporting a cloth bandage on his forehead above his left eye. The meeting took no detour to question Auljam’s appearance as enough time was wasted with his tardy arrival. However Auljam would only remain in the room for thirty minutes before being promptly dismissed by the Patriarch and escort out by security after repeatedly nodding off to sleep at the table and looking “Unfocused and lost” when he was awake. The meeting continued on without him, but not before the Patriarch declaring the date for the second Bejawl to be pushed back to the 22nd of December immediately.

On account of his battered appearance, the Director was examined by Ohrion menders after his removal from the meeting. The menders began with removing the bandage over Auljam’s forehead. Beneath the bandage, menders found a infected, long, deep cut that they appraised as being the work of a short blade… The menders questioned Karvose on the source of this injury, but he was unwilling or unable to supply a coherent answer. As the examination progressed, symptoms of dehydration, sleep deprivation and blood loss (from the previously mentioned cut) were also noticed. On encountering extensive bruising to his right shoulder, the menders once again pressed Karvose on how he sustained these wounds, but no more in the way of clarification was forthcoming. Due to the extent of his injuries, after this initial assessment Karvose was transported off-site to an Ohrion facility for further treatment and testing.

Zaibatsu Peacekeepers were called in to investigate just what Auljam Karvose has been up to over the past few days. Communication between Karvose and the rest of the Zaibatsu has been growing increasingly tenuous in recent weeks, with the Director’s only public appearance being a brief show-of-face at last week’s Grand Feast in honour of the Zaibatsu’s agricultural sector.

In October, Karvose founded a program to teach applicants how to be a professional wrestler, and this detail casts some light on the affair. This program was a recurring theme in the interviews between the Peacekeepers and employees and collaborators of Karvose Collaboration Studio when asking about Auljam’s recent activites. And it gradually became clear that the Director scarcely left the program’s gymnasium during the fortnight leading up to the council meeting. The situation was so severe that Karvose had taken to sleeping for only a few hours in an office adjacent to the gymnasium, rather than his own home.

Professional wrestler and program instructor Himri Besi (perhaps better known by his stage name, Lostar Brail) was questioned about Karvose’s recent behavior. Himiri goes on to explain that ever since Foley Jones departed from the Studio, Karvose’s determination to see the program succeed became almost fanatical, with him working vastly extended hours in an attempt to fill the void left by Jones. Besi also revealed precisely how Karvose received the cut to his forehead: the night prior to the council meeting, Karvose asked Besi to teach him about “balding”

Blading”, as it is called in the professional wrestling industry, is the practice of a wrestler intentionally cutting themselves with a small blade during a match. The bleeding that follows helps add to the drama of the bout, or - in the jargon of the field - “sell” how impactful an attack was. Due to the propensity for wounds to the forehead to heal quickly while bleeding profusely, the forehead and scalp are the choice targets for these blade jobs. The practice is for the most part safe when performed correctly, but an inexpert cut can sever an artery or–perhaps worse in the theatrical world of wrestling, leave a permanent scar.

Himri explains the moment between him and Auljam.

“I’m getting ready to head out, right? Students were already gone, gym was cleaned and my gear was already in the locker. Auljam calls me over about one last thing… I go over and immediately he gets to the point; asks me if I can show him how to do a blade job. At first I refuse, try to put it off ‘till later, but then he’s like “Nah, nah, nah man! It’ll be quick! Just show me once, real quickly, please!” and I just go with it. I go find the med-kit first then get my spare razor blades out of my locker and come back to him."

“Now, I ain’t about to actually do it right here in front of you but I’ll show you the motions. Now you take a small, concealable razor blade - typically you keep it hidden in your wrist bands or handed off to you by the referee…You hold it like this so your hands, keeping it hidden from the audience and the cameras. Go about right here above your eyebrow and give the blade a little push, get it into your skin, then slide it across a wee bit and you’re done. I do this in front of Auljam, let the blood flow, patch myself up and hand Auljam a clean blade”

“Now, at this point I knew I made a mistake as the man was clearly a little nervous about this, but I let him do it…and he fails. I mean, he gets the blade in, slides it across a bit, but then gets scared halfway though and panics, cuts too much and from the look of it, a little too deep, ‘cause damn, that blood starts gushing out. I jump on to controlling his bleeding and getting him patched up as quickly as possible, all while Auljam begs me not to tell anyone… I keep telling him I won’t so he’ll calm the ■■■■ down and let me help him, and after I get him bandaged up and I’m about ready to run out and just be done with the day, I tell him to go see one of those, uh… Orows, Ohrans or whatever they’re called for actual medical help. He said he would and I left him there at the gym, thinking he was gonna be fine and check himself in.”

  • Himiri Besi (Lostar Brail)

Clearly, Karvose failed to heed Besi’s advice to seek out Ohrion Menders for medical attention. With the disturbing nature of blading–someone deliberately spilling their own blood to further dramatize an already-scripted performance–it is safe to assume that Karvose wanted to hide this detail about professional wrestling from the public eye. Now that this detail is made public, there is some concern about what exactly is being taught in this program.

Karvose is to remain in a Ohrion clinic for a week to rest and recuperate. This stay is mandatory and, and security are instructed to prevent any attempt he should make to leave. The responsibilities of the Collaboration Studio will temporarily fall into the hands of Viontha Rundon, an Intaki actress that was appointed “Lead Collaborator” by Auljam Karvose after their years working together in the holo-reel industry. Viontha’s focus is. and will continue to be, on preparations of the Bejawl on the 22nd of December.

In other, less dramatic, news regarding the council meeting, a new policy has been initiated to allow the Stelmari Exchange to facilitate the sale of produce and meats from the Kresh Root Society. Previous policies allowed the Colony Administration and the Kresh Root Society to handle the allocation of food stock in the Zaibatsu. However, after facing concerns regarding the storage of produce, Stelmari Oksasio’s idea of taking some of the stock to sell on outside markets for additional funds was accepted. Warehouses for food products are also to operate at 75% capacity, with any stock above that to be donated to the Exchange. Currently, the Exchange seeks third parties to whom they can sell this produce, netting themselves a tidy profit–and demonstrating their capabilities to the Patriarch in the process.

ZANIE will be on standby this December for any new updates.

Interview: Himiri Besi on his career and the professional wrestling industry.

Nannaras X

December 8th YC 120

Auljam Karvose’s progress to gain favor to establish a wrestling brand in the Raata Zaibatsu has been rough. From the moment Auljam revealed the infamous “Main Event” of the first Bejawl on June 1st, there has been nothing but resistance from several members of leadership and a good portion of Hoiyori’s population. With “Blading” being the most controversial detail revealed yet.

Auljam Karvose has dedicated a good portion of his time to training new wrestling talent in Hoiyori, and has neglected his other duties as Head Director of the Collaboration Studio, even to the point of causing the second Bejawl to be pushed back to the 22nd. It is here that Auljam will make a last attempt to impress the people of the Zaibatsu and get them to accept professional wrestling.

For more details on the industry and Karvose’s progress, ZANIE reached out and invited seasoned veteran and instructor for Auljam’s training camp, Himiri Besi for an interview. . Some may know him better by his ring name, Lostar Brali.

[Hoovand]
“Tonight, my guest of honor sitting across from me is a professional wrestler that has put enough years into the industry to be considered a true veteran. He is none other than Himiri Besi, better known as “Lostar Brali” to his fans out there in New Eden. Himiri, how are you feeling?”

[Himiri]
“I’m feeling fine, it’s good to be here.”

[Hoovand]
“Excellent; now, I want to start off with getting to know you more. Can I ask why you became a professional wrestler?”

[Himiri]
“Well, much like anyone else who gets in the business, I was first a spectator before a wrestler. I grew up watching it, growing attached to the characters and storylines, and fantasized about being the one to get the title belt…As I got older and got out of school, I realized I could chase that fantasy if I put my mind to it. Otherwise, I’d have to settle with some mundane job.”

[Hoovand]
“So you’re in it for the thrill? The limelight?”

[Himiri]
“It was part of the motivation, sure. Ultimately I wanted to be an entertainer. I’m not the funniest guy, so stand-up wasn’t really an option. Then the holo-reel scene was way too crowded with other people trying to make their big break too, so it looked like a dead end to me. The path towards a wrestling career was presenting itself to me like it was destiny, you know?”

[Hoovand]
“Well seeing as you’ve been involved with the business for a while now, I’d imagine you were destined for this career. Exactly how many years have you been a professional wrestler for?”

[Himiri]
“Seven, give or take.”

[Hoovand]
“So,for seven years you’ve gone by the name Lostar Brali. Is this an alter ego of yours?”

[Himiri]
“Calling it an alter ego implies to me that you’re saying I have two different personalities in my personal life. Lostar Brali is a finctionalcharacter that I portray as in the confines of wrestling.”

[Hoovand]
“But who is Lostar Brali?”

[Himiri]
“Lostsr Brali can best be described as a vigilante out for justice. He’s an ex-slave that confronts tyranny and corruption head-on.”

[Hoovand]
“A figure of heroism?”

[Himiri]
“Well, that’s what a face is supposed to be. When you pitch your character to whatever promo you first work for, they don’t want a ten page backstory explaining his nuanced morality. They want something short and simple that immediately tells you whatever or not the character is a heel or a face.”

[Hoovand]
“I’m sorry, heel? Face? What does that mean?”

[Himiri]
“Bad guy and good guy, respectively. At the core of storytelling in wrestling, it comes down to who should the audience cheer for and who shouldn’t they cheer for. A face is a wrestler that is honorable, courageous, noble and disciplined, where heels are arrogant, cowardly, and dishonorable, willing to cheat in any match and backstab anyone to achieve their own goals.”

[Hoovand]
“So, Lostar was what you would call a face then?”

[Himiri]
“Correct, but since he was a vigilante, he didn’t exactly follow due process and took matters into his own hands. Ultimately, though, he stood for justice and did follow a code of honor. He just wanted to hurt some bad guys really badly along the way.”

[Hoovand]
“And this motivation of the character is a product of his backstory as a slave… With slavery being a very sensitive subject to the Matari, have you encountered anyone from the tribes who takes offense toan outsider pretending to be an ex-slave?”

[Himiri]
“Of course, and just so I can come clean, when I initially made the character Lostar Brali, I was young and ignorant. I was stuck on a single planet, oblivious to the larger galaxy and oblivious to my own Brutor heritage, but in a way that’s why I made Lostar Brali. I wanted to be that Matari superhero, you know? “Grrr, slavery”, and all that… and it’s not like Lostar was portrayed insultingly; he was out there destroying Amarrians. Hell! It was the Amarrians I ended up pissing off the most.”

[Hoovand]
“How so?”

[Himiri]
“Four years back we were doing a pay-per-view event somewhere on the Amarr-Federal border; I forget where exactly, but there tons of Amarrian immigrants here, a super dense area of them… At the time I was locked in a rivalry with Rogbal Titiaster, a posh true Amarrian of noble blood and devoted to what the scriptures teach. For a business-as-usual event, Rogbal was a heel. Here, however, with this crowd it has the reverse effect, where I’m the heel and he’s the face. It was his night in front of the fans: he even opened the show with a prayer session with the entire crowd there. This was his night in front of his fans and I had the honor of being in the main event with him.”

[Hoovand]
“So what happened?”

[Himiri]
“A stupid plan that backfired in my face. See, our rivalry consisted of beating the piss out of the topic of slavery. We never really touched on the subject of religion as that’s way more accepted in the Federation than slavery, and despite being the audience being Amarrian immigrants, they most likely had more support for their faith than slavery… So, we had to come up with something new, and since I was technically the heel this night, I approached Rogbal and the writing team to tell them this plan of me stealing Rogbal’s personal Scriptures book, which he always took out to the ring, and lighting it on fire in front of the whole audience before our match started. They let me do this.”

[Hoovand]
“Oh god…”

[Himiri]
“…The network got SO MANY complaints that night that it almost brought down the entire brand I was working for. Now keep in mind this was a fake book: genuine cover, but all the pages were blank. Wrestling is fake after all, right? We sold it to the audience there and everyone watching at home that I burned a legitimate copy of their religious texts right there, live in ultra definition.”

[Hoovand]
“Oh, goodness, what were you thinking? I have to be quite honest with you Himiri, I’m personally slightly offended from you just telling me that you did this.”

[Himiri]
“Hoovand, I assure you, I do regret doing this. This almost destroyed my career, but before that realization set in, it was one of the greatest moments of my life–because when you play the heel, you have to learn to love the hate. Their booing is the equivalent of the audience cheering for the face, and let me tell you, the entire audience booed in unison. I got a high like no other, no drug in this universe could take me to the level of euphoria I had in that brief moment. I was grinning ear to ear backstage after that match, then someone in a suit tapped me on the shoulder and took me into another to have a talk and explain how my plan had just horrifically ■■■■■■ everything up. Would I ever do this again? Never. I learned a very stiff lesson that night…”

[Hoovand]
“I’m gonna leave it at that and steer the topic in a new direction. I wanna talk about where you are now, here in the Zaibatsu. Why did you come here?”

[Himiri]
“I wanted a new start with my career. When I left the EWF and turned heel, I was committing to the next stage of evolution as a wrestler. I would go and take it easy in the independent scene where I would have more creative control over my character. I played a face for seven years, and the act got so stale. I wanted to overhaul the character. When I dropped and became a free agent, Auljam contacted me and told me that I’d be perfect to help him build a wrestling brand. He was vague about the Zaibatsu and I was a litte daft not to do some research, but the opportunity got me excited. I could build something and make a difference.”

[Hoovand]
“Telling from past quotes ZANIE collected, it sounds like this wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.”

[Himiri]
“Damn straight! It’s incredibly difficult and stressful work. I’m currently the only guy that can teach these rookies after my help bailed out…”

[Hoovand]
“Your contract with the Studio expires this month. I take it you’re looking forward to getting out of here?”

[Himiri]
“…”

[Hoovand]
“Himiri?”

[Himiri]
"…Don’t get it twisted just yet. I know what I’ve said in my past quotes, and I meant what I said at the time. All of what I’ve said and done is the result of long weeks working to train these prospects. This has been an incredibly stressful endeavor that has taken its toll on me both emotionally and physically. After Auljam stepped in and started buckling down and putting in these late hours, it made me realize how much I’ve just been bitching. Now with my contract ending soon, I have the choice of jumping ship or trucking on. How this Bejawl turns out will help me decide, and the way things are looking? Well… you’ll find out for yourself.”

[Hoovand]
“I see… Well Himiri, it was a pleasure to have you down. I fear we’re out of time, however, and I need to wrap this up.

[Himiri]
“No problem; thanks for having me here.”
