I don’t see a problem with blowing the structures up if not being used, but as the assets were deemed safe they should have remained safe. I doubt there would have been this thread if the stored assets had remained safe.
@Captain_Gamma raises good points for sure. Even if CCP were to completely redesign this (“No Asset Safety” for abandoned structures being a step in that directly, possibly being the first of many), they should have still had a grandfather mechanic and certainly more to come if they take any further steps
My point has been, that CCP have their full rights to do whatever they want, because they own all the assets within the game. Players are not entitled to anything. Players can only hope that CCP, out of the goodness of their heart, would rollback the changes.
As a consumer, your only true option is to vote with your wallet.
But we return to the “EVE is the only game in existence that mandates reading patch notes/dev blogs” paradox when this shouldn’t be the case, hence grandfathering.
Remember this when considering candidates for the next CSM election:
I HAVE F’ed up in the game for sure, just not to amount that the OP did. I do feel bad for him. I’m still not quite sure if this a troll post on the subject.
But all I had to lose was a few bil. I guess I was more worried about my stuff than he was.
Name one game where you couldn’t adapt to a significant change you didn’t read about in advance where it was not catastrophic for you to be unprepared for the change.
“Ohhhhh Symmetra’s ultimate is differenttttt time to uninstall Overwatchhh” said no one ever.
Name one game that has consequences of any kind like EVE does. The only reason EVE is exceptional is that playing badly has permanent consequences, where in most other games you just die and respawn with everything intact and try again and again until you finally go read the patch notes.
Do you really want me to go back and create a “greatest hits” quote compilation of everything you’ve ever said regarding preparedness and fault and reading patch notes/dev blogs? I’d rather not waste my time. As much as I vehemently disagree with you, I’m inclined to believe you’re at least somewhat smart, and I’d rather not treat you like an idiot in doing so.
