Real world stuff and services for isk, plex or other in game items?

I’m sure this sounds good in your head.

Some advice:

No amount of space lawyering will protect you from CCP when they ban your account for RMT. You must be pretty far removed from reality if you think just to state “it is two independent transactions” will remove all the extemely obvious connections between the two transactions.

What’s the point of this thread?

You asked your question, several people replied with “against the rules”, some even quoted the rules, others responded from past experience with what CCP has formally announced, and now you’re arguing.

If you’re trying to convince us that it should be legal, you’re wasting your time because we’re PLAYERS who have no control over CCP’s rules and regulations. You should just submit a support ticket to get the official, and final, CCP answer directly from them. This also lets you quote the ticket in the future, and use it as evidence in your favor, to convince them to unban you.

This thread is the equivalent of asking your mom for the car keys because you know your dad (CCP) is going to say no…

Greetings!

As many have already answered here, you are not allowed to in-game assets to pay for real world items and services (with the small exception of Eve related services as outlined in the terms of service). Please refer to the following points:

EVE Online - Terms of Service

#10: You may not market, sell, advertise, promote, solicit or otherwise arrange for the exchange or transfer of items in the game or other game services unless it is for in-game sales of in-game services or items.

#11 The advertisement or sale of out of game goods and services not directly related to EVE Online is prohibited. The only out of game goods and services which can be advertised or sold for in-game currency or assets are the following: EVE forum signature creation, EVE related websites, EVE related artwork, third party voice communication server hosting, or EVE Time Codes.

EVE Online - End User License Agreement

Section 6 - CONDUCT
B. Selling Items and Objects
You may not transfer, sell or auction, or buy or accept any offer to transfer, sell or auction (or offer to do any of the foregoing), any content appearing within the Game environment, including without limitation characters, character attributes, items, currency, and objects, other than via a permitted Character Transfer as described in section 3 above. You may not encourage or induce any other person to participate in such a prohibited transaction. You may not use, transfer or assign any game assets for games of chance operated by third parties. The buying, selling or auctioning (or any attempt at doing so) of characters, character attributes, items, currency, or objects, whether through online auctions, newsgroups, postings on message boards or any other means is prohibited by the EULA and a violation of CCP’s proprietary rights in the Game.

In regards to the ‘why is CCP allowed to sell X items and players can’t’ statement is because CCP owns Eve and all it’s assets, we as players do not own any of the assets and thus have no rights to do so. Since CCP owns the rights to the game and all it’s assets, it is their property, so, they are free to do so (be it sell game cards, or selling event tickets as they have done in the past). See:

EVE Online - End User License Agreement

Section 10 - PROPRIETARY RIGHTS
B. Rights to Certain Content
You have no interest in the value of your time spent playing the Game, for example, by the building up of the experience level of your character and the items your character accumulates during your time playing the Game. Your Account, and all attributes of your Account, including all corporations, actions, groups, titles and characters, and all objects, currency and items acquired, developed or delivered by or to characters as a result of play through your Accounts, are the sole and exclusive property of CCP, including any and all copyrights and intellectual property rights in or to any and all of the same, all of which are hereby expressly reserved.

If you have anything else that you want to ask in regards to this, please go ahead and create a support ticket (under the ‘Game Play Support > Rules and Policies’ category so that your question or concern can be answered by an official CCP member.

Hope this helps!
