Stand up for common sense policies which allow players to see a visible red dot, indicating newly obtained or purchased items. Instead of catering to groupthink brigading from nullsec political machines, CCP should simply enable an option to turn this feature on or off. This would allow people who want a red dot to benefit from it, while people who lack inventory can enjoy languishing in their own poverty.
Well, Iāve had mine turned off for so long that I actually forgot all about CCPās āRed Dotā fiascoā¦
Anyway, hereās a quick AI Overview about itā¦
AI Overview
Inventory badging in EVE Online (infamously known as the āRed Dotā system) places notification badges and highlights on new items or inventory folders when they enter your inventory. You can easily disable this feature through your in-game settings menu.
How to Disable Inventory Badging (The Red Dot)
Open the in-game Settings menu (Escape key).
Go to the User Interface settings tab.
Find the Inventory Badging option in the Notifications section.
Uncheck or turn it off to banish the notification dots.
What Inventory Badging Does
Puts a counter badge on the Inventory icon in the NEOCOM bar.
Highlights new items or containers with a red marker when items are added.
Automatically tracks unseen loot, market deliveries, or acquired items.
Itās kind of a hassle to find items you just obtained, itād be good to have a way to identify them more easily, ie: a bright red dot.
They still have inventory badging, but they got rid of the visible dot, and now itās a barely visible outline which doesnāt last long enough. So itās cool they added an option, but unfortunately they removed the feature.
