Public trading on futures commodities. Most of the public had no idea that the silver trading was centered around warehouses that didn’t actually have any silver in them. Insert any precious metal really.

Pump and dump something that doesn’t exist. This crap would just be another empty warehouse.

It should be renamed Cryptic currency.

I read many big companies servers were being hacked recently…The hackers would put the bitcoin mining software on servers without the owners even knowing.

It is estimated that mining a new bitcoin costs between 2,500 and 3,500 $ in electricity, plus the hardware and personnel (cooling is accounted as part of the electricity).

The profit margin still is large enough to keep the bubble up, but with the increasing costs of transactioning the currency (last year the energy cost was around 300 kw/h per transaction) it’s gonna burst sooner than later.

Keeping in mind this is a game, it could be fun/useful to have a currency that competes with isk, presumably illegal in empire space.

It could be played as some kind of block chain, but back in reality, we can stick the records in the database

Now that’s not a bad idea. Please start a thread with that suggestion so I can support you. Instead of this ■■■■ post.

This would mean CCP would become a finance/currency trading company, which would then mean lots of legal stuff beyond running a game. CCP are in the market of providing a fun game for people to play in their leisure, they are not currency traders or bit coin miners.

Yeah…see, this right here…that’s gonna be a problem. Suppose you guys also have a hanger full of spiffy shiny stuff. I come along and join your corp. I’m all helpful and nice. Worm my way up into the command structure and get access to that hanger, empty it and then do the above and sell it for USD…and whoops you just called the cops.

Yeah, lets just not go there please.

I get your enthusiasm here, and I find Bitcoin and other crypto currencies very interesting from a monetary theory stand point. Just not sure I want to meld it into the game at this point. Maybe someday…but given that CCP just brought the boot down on gambling, I’m thinking this does not have much chance.

Those don’t mean crap in a criminal proceeding. Heck they don’t mean much in a civil proceeding. I can sign one, but I can still sue.

That isn’t going to stop the problem I noted.

There is an interesting parallel in Japan. In Japan there is interest in keeping “alive” their traditional martial traditions. And to do this a number of schools would participate in a competition called taryu-jiai. These were fights where pretty much anything went…literally. Not like UFC/MMA, but breaking bones and stuff like that. After awhile the Japanese government got tired of dealing with the lawsuits that kept popping up periodically so they outlawed the entire thing.

MrZang, are you a dictator?

Whatever you think I said it is way more REAL than I intended.

Think computer game

To be fair to MrZang, “He [Soros] would say that, wouldn’t he?”

Eve online is a game and we play for fun.
Currency trading is business and we do it for profit.
See the difference?

I would not play it if it didnt produce any returns. As i said i play it for fun and i get fun in return for my time, which is the aim of a game. If you want to make money, find a job you like, but stop this ■■■■■■■■.

Losing them on failed investition into shitcoins… not so much.

I know, and my point wasn’t about a physical confrontation, but about the legal nightmare that comes with your idea. Signing a document saying you won’t sue does not mean you can’t sue. Those documents have very little legal weight.

Depends on the exchange rate, but using 500 PLEX as the standard It would be about $6ish dollars. Problem is not that I’ve swipped a billion ISK from you, but when I swipe say 300 billion ISK and you decide that $1,800 justifies calling the cops.

I tried the “Summarize This Topic” button for the first time on this thread and the whole thread was consolidated all the way down to:

:poop:

No lie.

Agreed, its not like when my pet Skoldpadda spoke to me and said “Don’t ya know? It turtles all the way down.”

Or just a 100 billion titan someone just killed because he could. People could call the cops for “just” 600$ destruction…
