Remove Restrictions on Alpha's

Please… I have to disagree with that last sentence. Or perhaps with the way you misuse the term, as it seems to means something quite different in one particular country.

Anyway, my opinion is we’ve gone too far with alphas.

Definitely.

It’s already like that. Nobody took your skills out of your character sheet, nobody took your ships out of your station, everything is still there.

Inaccessible.

You pay to play, not to train. You pay for access to the server, for processing cycles so the server keeps track of your mining amounts and your missions and shots fired and whatnot.

EVE’s Alpha program is the same as Blizzard’s WoW “free play” and EA’s SWTOR “free play”, so you won’t get what you’re asking for. Those games also restrict the number of characters (roles you can have), the amount of money you can spend out of your wallet, etc. It’s the same.

Like it or not, it’s the standard.

You got what you paid for. You played the game while you paid for access to the servers.

You own nothing. You pay for timed access to the servers, so you can use the software for your own entertainment. Once you stop paying you lose access to the entertainment that EVE provides.

THAT is what you pay for. Not items, not ships, not skills, not characters. They can delete your ■■■■ tomorrow or permaban you for no reason, and they wouldn’t owe you anything.

Thank you, that was precisely the section I was thinking of, which basically says we are all renters in effect.

I frequently play as Alpha and even I agree with this. While it’s too late, I’ve though the best balance for Alpha’s was to keep the original “cruiser” limit but lift the racial restrictions.

Edit: Even lifting the racial restrictions was more to keep Alpha’s themselves balanced rather then having newbies be gimped because they didn’t know to choose Gallente.

Lootboxes in 6. Full f2p in 12.

And this, people, is what happens when you give a mouse a cookie.

So, we have enough production? T2 price spikes suggest otherwise. Do you remember what Torpedo Bombers cost pre-moon change? They were about 18m. They spiked to almost 50m, now, 30m+. Moving forward all T2 items look to keep increasing simply because demand is wel beyond our means to supply thanks to active moon mining now. Letting alphas break into the T1 Barges, wont hurt anything. If anything, we miners could use the help vs relying on a relative few to run multiple accounts. Only some of those players need to go on an EvE break to affect the economy.

Me personally, I am thrilled! Everyday I do the same thing I am getting a pay raise, love it! While I certainly hope it keeps going, I gotta ask, where is the breaking point? Right now we are not that far from pirate ships being cheaper than T2s that are in many respects similar.

CCP is fixing PvE farming with NPC mining operations and the faction shipyards those are definitely next level PvE.

CCP is doing great in my book. They are staying alert, trying new approaches and evolving the game. They definitely understand that…

The way it’s always been is not the way it will always be.

I’m going to be a bit more skeptical on this one seeing how the MPI has been trending down rather significantly.

Eve isnt really “stream friendly” like most other instant action games are.
The people who watch eve streams are few and far between, compared to almost any other game on twitch.

CCP will make money from those who dont want to wait, I wouldnt be surprised if we all will be playing for free in a few years, only paying for more skillpoints to CCP, in a form of Alpha and Omega daily injectors bought from CCP.

I’ve seen that statement made many many many times over the past 12ish years, and “almost” everything it’s been applied to, HAS happened.

If that happens it would be suicide for EVE/CCP. A lot of people would just leave the game (mostly subs), me included. I didnt work for my ISK just so they wipe the wallets because reasons.

This is just not going to happen.

Me neither. I played a game and enjoyed it for mine.

lol ok … that was not what i meant but sure.

To be fair I agree with the sentiment but more for the reason that I dont think they would do it until they decide to finally close the game down as too many people regard their balance as their score.

Hence the ranting about losing a Venture that happens on these forums a lot.

The day this happens is the day I’ll only ever have to pay for one sub, my main account.

My other is a mining/indy alt, I can forego the indy side to save £9.99pm.

They kinda already shot themselves in the foot with the current changes, they lost 3 subs from me as they became redundant one I no longer had to pay for the same stuff I already did with them. I’m sure they lost a LOT of subs similarly across the game as a result.

Still they pressed on, so who knows, maybe they will.

If anything, they need to make F2P more restrictive again.

I honestly think you people asking for Alphas to get T1 barges have no idea what you’re asking for. Just wait until bot fleets strip a belt bare in minutes.
