Remove the Abyss dungeon timers

A humble suggestion to make the game more PVE accessable; removing the timer allows players to be more flexible and creative with fits.

Majority of players leave due to PVP engaments - so pivioting into improving PVE content seems like a great way to draw in and maintain more players.

This small step can snow ball into further improvements in relation to PVE accessability.

So you can safely sit inside abyss till downtime in case of any pvp threat waiting you outside?

You mean totally overtanking the ship and semi-afk farming the content because you simply can’t die any more? With 12 chars at the same time at best?

The whole purpose of the Abyssals is to push players to their limits. You need to fight against the NPCs and their various tactics from shortrange to kiting to high DPS or high Alphastrikes, various EWAR or Neut pressure, environmental effects and the ticking clock.

If you cannot do this, don’t run Abyssals. There is more than enough PvE content which is less challenging and not time sensitive.

Why don’t you try playing a PvE game if you want that. Eve is a PvP game with PvE elements.

Lots of PvE in EVE is very accessible already.

Abyssals are meant to be challenging, allowing players to push their ships to the limits to obtain good rewards. If you wish your abyssals to be less challenging you can do lower tiers. Removal of the timer just removes challenge and payout for people who do like challenging PvE.

Next, the timer on abyssals create predictable timeboxed PvE content for players with a tighter schedule who don’t have time for other EVE content like roaming fleets lasting hours. You’ve got 20 minutes to play? Abyssals are perfect for you!

Abyssal timers also enforce players to be connected to the universe. Sure, abyssals may be instanced content, but due to the guaranteed return within 20 minutes of surviving ships at the trace where you left for the abyssal dungeon this content is still connected to the open (PvP) universe.

If people could simply hide forever in abyssals I would personally exploit it by having an alt watch my entrance while I do abyssals and ‘simply not come out’ if any hostiles appear to be waiting for me. 20 minutes? I’ll happily sit 5 hours inside if that makes the would-be attackers get bored and go away. Such easy and bad exploits are avoided by simply killing anyone who doesn’t leave the instance within 20 minutes.

So to conclude the abyssal dungeon timers are the way this content can create a challenge, can guarantee content is doable for people with tight schedules and also enable player interaction and PvP content even though abyssals themselves are instanced PvE content.

I think removing the abyss dungeon timers would be a bad idea.

This is the epitome of Carebearism, it sounds like you just need to uninstall and go play something else…

I do this anyway when I do abysses. I’m not sure if it scares them off, or if they think someone else is waiting to gank the person in the abyss and politely warp off, but it works, then the alt carries the loot. Also keeps me from exiting an abyss blind into a gank.

Yup. Unlimited instanced PvE with zero risk has long been the dream of Eve Carebears.
