Apparently, not only by my own observation but also by it being acknowledged by CCP too, the mining drones ARE BROKEN and I created this thread to COMPLAIN about it.
Which has THE EXACT same result as making that ore immune to the mining drones WITH THE BENEFIT that no other player, who is not aware of the issue, will lose ore and thus standings if they chose to use mining drones for the mining missions!
