They were always meant to have the same system layouts, its not a case of them intervening, they just wanted the map to remain consistent, if there is ever a situation where the servers have to be merged they don’t want people to end up with stuff ending up in unexpected locations they might no longer have access to and are unable to extract those assets from
They will never merge, so what’s the point?
While extremely unlikely, its not actually impossible, and the point is that they are still the same game, the “universe” remains the same its only the player controlled parts that change, CCP also deals with providing the base game code and it means they aren’t having to deal with multiple revisions of the same universe, so less chances that either version gets something pushed to it that breaks something

You’re right that technically it’s the same base game — but let’s be clear: “extremely unlikely” is doing a lot of work here.
Yes, CCP provides the core code, but merging Tranquility and Serenity isn’t just a patch-level issue. It’s a legal, political, economic, and infrastructural nightmare.
The Chinese version isn’t just hosted separately — it’s governed by entirely different laws, censorship mandates, asset modifications, and account systems. CCP would have to:
- Violate Chinese regulations to merge them.
- Or get Chinese authorities to allow global, uncensored content — which is borderline science fiction.
So while it’s technically possible in the way it’s technically possible to land on the sun if you go at night — in practice, it’s never happening.

I wasn’t referring to you specifically. But the fact of the matter is that with a < -5.0 standing I can still travel through both Minmatar and Gallente space and dock anywhere - only being marginally harassed by Navy police along the way.
One could argue that my 5.0 security rating allows me (semi) unmolested gate transit, but I’m still scratching my head on the docking up aspect. I could see jump-cloning in, but that’s the only exception.
