Rolled drones

So it looks like ccp is adding rolled drones to the game along with will drone dmg mods amps here Hoboleaks: Singularity_Previous (Build: 1940200) to Singularity_Next (Build: 1942274) how far are you going to make people who have the isk way stronger the the people who can’t this shits gotta stop I this is why new players dont want to join . this is pushing new people into not joining because they feel so far behind they won’t want to join. Maybe dont add rolled augs to the game. Idk I will get them them to prove a point but really think hard about this.

So you’re saying that carebears will drop more loot?

Unlucky they will touch them but yea that can happen I am a flying drop supers here but that just add more to the ■■■■■■■ trig hac fit I have. All ready does 1.8k dps

WTH is a ‘rolled drone’?

EDIT: After coming across more information while browsing Reddit as I sit at my desk, clocked-in, I now realize what it means. I am ashamed for not instantly recognizing the terminology… :sob:

Being poor is a mindset.

You seem quite upset at this change, as you think it will disproportionately benefit older players. That’s not true. You see, you can use mutaplasmids to make god-tier mods, but you can also use them to make cheap faction alternatives (if you want to know more, just ask, and I’ll give you an in-depth explanation). So it will, in fact, not be something that solely benefits rich players, but something that benefits those that know how to take advantage of them. More to the point, I promise you that a defeatist attitude is more detrimental to your long term success in Eve than this, or any other change CCP rolls out. So, instead of getting mad, maybe start looking at change as opportunity, and begin asking yourself how you might be able to take advantage of those changes.

Abyssal Gilas aren’t strong enough yet. CCP wants to fix that. Funnily CCP once said that Gilas should not be the go-to-easy-peasy ship for Abyssals. How tables turn.

Yes please.

That’s called “broke”. If I’m broke but I have 200b in assets and hundreds of friends, am I really “poor”?

  • Alright, so decayed mutaplasmids are mostly dirt cheap, gravids are often reasonable, and unstables are usually expensive. And, of course, when it comes to mods, metamods are usually dirt cheap, while T2 is usually modestly priced. Thus, I usually do some combination of decayed/gravid + meta/T2.
  • Next, I figure out what my dump stats are. These are attributes that I can get bad rolls on and not care. For example, incursion battleships often have CPU and PG to spare. So, I don’t need good CPU rolls on damage mods. If I get any rolls that are all green, I sell them to offset my costs. And I insted use the mods that have good a good damage modifier, but crappy CPU rolls. Anyway, the more dump stats you have, the easier it will be to get what you need. The more green/priority stats you need, the more rolls you can expect to need. Speaking of which…
  • You can do math to estimate how many rolls you need, and how much it will cost, but you don’t need to get that in-depth if you don’t want to. I just somehow have a feel for about how much I’ll need. And since my inputs are cheap, I usually by a little extra, and throw whatever I don’t use in my mutaplasmid drawer. Anyway, sometimes I get my “ideal roll” well before I roll out everything, and I’ll stop right there. Sometimes, I have to roll out everything, and pick from what I did get. Regardless, you typically want to buy enough mats for 20-40 rolls.
  • You can also save money by using buy orders. The margin between buy and sell is often trivial for metamods, but it can add up for some mutaplasmids. Plus, getting your orders filled isn’t as big of a PITA as it used to be, as the broker’s fee changes has dramatically reduced the need to babysit orders (no more 1 isk war and constant price updating). Of course, Jita has also gotten a lot farther away for a lot of people since the fall of Niarja.
  • Speaking of which, Jita has the best prices and volumes. Yeah, you can probably set up low ball orders in various places, but the speed at which those orders would fill would require a lot more foresight and patience.

Okay, that should be the gist of it. How about some examples.
Example 1
My PvE battleship has plenty of CPU and a relatively low risk of dying. Thus, I decide to go for T2+Gravid (more expensive, but my risk is low, and it will help my isk efficiency). BTW, it’is not that hard to get a better damage mod than faction with this combination. Anyway, damage mod mutaplasmids only modify 3 stats (less rolls needed when compared to something that modifies 5 stats), and one of those 3 is a dump stat (reduces rolls needed). However, I’m fitting 3 damage mods (increases rolls needed). I could probably get decent stuff from about 25 rolls, but muh isk efficiency, so I decide to roll out 50. I set up buy orders in Jita, and they fill within 1-3 days (having a market alt sitting in Jita will make updating prices much more convenient). I sell the god rolls (good CPU, damage mod, and ROF), keep the rolls that have good damage mod and ROF, but crappy CPU, and sort the rest into my abyssal junk drawer or trash can.

And do note that due to stacking penalties, “lopsided” damage mods can usually eek out a little more damage than well-rounded mods. For example, combining a mod with really high damage and okay rof with a mod with okay damage and really high ROF can result in more damage than combining two mods that both have good damage and good ROF. Hopefully, that makes sense. But when it doubt, simulate your ship, and try out different combinations till you get the best results.

Example 2
I need a way to free up CPU on a cruiser for PvP. More speed and cap is appreciated, but not critical, and I have plenty of PG (my dump stat). My risk is high, and I’m a cheap bastard, so I go for a decayed+enduring AB combination. I probably won’t need more than 20, but the combo is cheap, and I’ll probably fit up more ships as I lose them. Thus, I just buy 50 pairs for like 5-10 million isk. For my rolls, I have a bare minimum CPU roll I need (so everything will fit). I’ll keep all the rolls that meet my CPU needs and that have speed and cap in the green. The better the cap and speed, the better. However, as long as they’re no worse than meta, I consider them acceptable. And, of course, if I get any rolls that have great speed, CPU, PG, and cap, I sell them. Decayed+meta doesn’t fetch a super high price, but selling one “god roll” for about 10 mil completely offsets my cost.

Okay, hopefully that all made sense.

I know how rolls work lmao  I was talking about the drones …

I was replying to Xuxien (which you can see in the top right corner of the post). You were notified because you were OP, which automatically sets you to “watching” the thread (notifies you of every reply to thread).

How will they know if they dont join?

Seems to me that not getting them, and destroying everyone elses would prove the point that you can live without them and its just a gimmick to get more people to do Abyssmals.

But thats just my opinion, man.
