Root causes

Alright, but the very idea of CCP is that this is a multibox game. You do know that in the EVE store there are special discounts for multiboxers, right?

There’s also numerous sites where you can buy ISK and have it delivered in game.

I wonder where they get the ISK from to sell on their sites?

You are proposing a solution, but why is this a problem to be solved in the first place? I have no clue…

And it does when you reach a certain number of them or depending on the task you’re doing

Same here. I have only ever had 1 active account in this game, and I have been PLEX-ing it for circa 10 years now.

***

PLEX’ing the account is not an issue in any form or manner. It’s not like you get the subscription for free. Somebody pays for it. It still requires real life money to pay for any subscription. Exactly from whose wallet it’s coming has never mattered to CCP. And that’s where this discussion ends.

He didn’t say he had multiple screens. He said his accounts were each on their own full-screen desktop. Which is something you can do on a macOS. I think that’s what he meant – that he has each account assigned to its own desktop space on a single Mac which has a single physical monitor.

I don’t multibox so I can’t really verify this, but there is a possibility to have multiple desktops on a single Mac (I use 4 desktops on my Macbook Pro and 4 on my iMac as well. I wouldn’t even be able to work on a computer that has a single desktop – cough-cough Windows – it feels claustrophobic). I see no inherent reason why you can’t multibox EVE on a Mac.

At first i wanted to just write “It is none of your business how someone likes to play the game”. Then i thought again to write something else, because seemingly you don’t ultimately get it about what EVE is all about: In EVE no one sets you goals to achieve. You have to set your goals for yourself and to get enjoyment out of reaching them.
For some that could be in leading an alliance, for others it could be a station network, the next one likes to be an industrial heavyweight, an explorer, a wormhole resident and holdout, a spy, a ninja miner, an assassin, a corp thief and so on…all the professions of EVE basically. There is a chart somewhere for that.

This means there are also people who just like to gather resources, build ships and bring them to market. All done by themselves. (At least in the old days this was mostly possible…nowadays it is more complicated because of all the new resources added to the blueprint). But still…a ship that you made and brought to market…you will know that someone flies it out there, because all ships on the market are player made.

That is in itself as much a fulfilling reason as any else. No discussion and explanation needed. A multiaccount setup will ease things and effort. It will make you enjoy this more without needing to join a corp. Or if you are part of a corp enjoying this, the same applies. It will ease things, raise efficiency and all those things.

There doesn’t have to be a reason for everything. Some people even manufacture and sell intentionally at zero profit or a net loss. If they enjoy what they do, it was worthwile.

It’s not about dictating anything. It is a question. What makes this, what must be a very time consuming, playstyle so attractive.

My “why” is not gatekeeping or dictating. It is a question.

Clearly you’ve never tried to multibox, at least not within the rules set by CCP.

Even with Eve-O-Preview giving me a place to click to switch directly to the client I need when I need it, operating 8 miners and an orca is a ton of work. Multiboxing combat sites is exponentially more difficult for each alt you have running it unless you use specific ships and fits, like drones or Stormbringers, and drones got nerfed for this recently.

The only way multiboxing is easier than a single account is if you’re cheating using input broadcasting.

And one no one needs to, nor should answer. Everyone plays this game for their own goals, and accomplishes those goals however they want. That is the point of open-ended games like this. Maybe you should have tried finding out why people do this instead of crying about the fact that we can.

Again it is a puzzle to me to want do such a time consuming activity. While I get that is the way they like to play the game, so be it. Often there is a reason grounded on some sort of logic that makes it more than generating Isk and plexing an account.

Gankers do what they do because they find it fun. A gate camper waiting on that nice juicy ship to wander into their system is again fun for those players. Even a nomadic player. Finds comfort and fun in flying in their ship from wormhole to wormhole to system to system. Never docking anywhere long enough to do much more than say sell something or pick up something that could not make themselves.

I even get why people will betray their corp. Or be a spy for their home corp. A trader that never undock find a lot of fun in pitting their financial acumen against other traders. The multitude ways of playing are great and I do appreciate all that. I am genuinely curious about why people multibox.

My motivation for play is enjoyment. Making Isk at what I enjoy will always be a plus.

How much isk does a player actually need?

I’ve been collecting.

What, no artwork to go with that? Still doesn’t answer my question.

Answers cost extra.

It’s a tale as old as humanity. The have-nots whining about the haves. The poors complaining about how it’s not “fair” that other people can afford to multibox 20 accounts….

Sigh am not complaining about multiboxer.. Bots, yes. Multiboxers. no.

Just had a legitimate question that arose from being curious over the mindset of multiboxing. But as per usual there is no answer to be had. Ahh well..

Why do people multibox? That’s easy. Time. For example, I want to do a mining OP when I want to do a mining OP. Not whenever various members of a corp have the time to do so. So, I multibox and do it myself on my own terms and my own time.

When I was active, I’d have one account in a Hulk mining and another account in an Orca providing massive mining buffs and serving as an ore freighter. I would just keep moving into the Orca all of the ore mined from the Hulk. In addition, I could have each account on its own screen allowing me to keep an eye on everything.

Not true, I have ships that I was given by CCP, in fact a lot of players will have some, especially those that have been here for a long time.

Nope, it turns it into a job, well for me anyway.

I have no need for my own fleet. Now and then I’ll go out with my Porpoise and my other low skilled account will fly a Covetor, but that is maybe every few months.

Otherwise I just fly solo and do whatever I feel like doing on any particular day.

I should have more generally written “all market sell orders for ships are originating from players” to truly satisfy everyone…
