Running EVE on Winboat?

Good night everyone! 07

So for a multitude of reasons (Mainly Microsoft incompetence, but I will leave it at that) I decided to switch to Linux.

Currently I’m using Ubuntu 25.10 and wanted to install EVE on it. I’ve heard about Lutris, the running it directly from steam method…But I decide to use a new software that was rather appealing to me: Winboat. It’s basically a windows emulator that let’s you run windows apps on it without the usual hassle of doing so.

Thing is, I’m afraid of login in my account and for some reason get banned…I have quite a bit invested and didn’t want that to happen…So, if anyone could possibly give me any feedback on how well it works or the dangers of using it (AKA Ban), I would appreciate it.

Have a wonderful night guys! o7

Why would you get banned for trying to log into the game?

Don’t do any of the stuff you’re normally not supposed to do. I’ve never seen a rule dictating what OS you’re required to play on.

You’re very unlikely to get banned for this, and if they do you should appeal it.

Have you considered just installing EVE from Steam? Steam Proton works flawlessly with it in my experience.

From the FAQ on the website:

Is there GPU acceleration/passthrough?
Not at the moment, but we plan on eventually implementing GPU acceleration through paravirtualized drivers.

So you won’t be playing any games with this thing. Just install the game from Steam - that’s the “no hassle” method.

Winboat wouldn’t work. Just use Lutris or Steam.
