As a general definition it’s fine, however here in Eve the meaning of the term has been refined over the years; much like the word fanny has 2 entirely different meanings in English, depending on which side of the pond you’re on.
I fit this description, I gather resources, I murder NPC’s by the thousand, I make stuff, I trade in stuff, I make choices that minimise the chances of being the victim of a sudden decompression at the hands of another.
Few would call me a carebear, here I am called a bear.
No, in Eve you have to be special to be a carebear, being a PvE or PvP biased player is not a factor in being a carebear; the deciding factor is your attitude.
A carebear asks that the game be changed to suit them, despite often being told how to get around the obstacle that they face, be it a mechanic or other people; an Eve player changes how they play to suit the game.
You’re meant to find your own way around, through, over and under the obstacles you face, we’ve all been down that path and will freely share how we did it, what we learned from it and adjusted how we play because of it.
There is no end beyond the one you set for yourself, there is only the journey with all the stories and people that you discover along the way; some good, some bad. This is the game, it just happens to have spaceships.
I completely understand that breakdown… but that was the googled “fact-check” definition, not MINE… the official… what you are stating is again… your personal opinion of it, like the comment i responded too, which was incorrect, and you failed to acknowledge that and instead focused on the correct official definition of the word carebear. In all my 10 years playing eve, i have never once heard someone called a “bear”… LOL. Google eve online carebear definition. Thanks for your input, but it was also far from correct and aligned more with personal opinion. o7
I’m well aware of the google definition, it doesn’t apply here because we have our own lexicon.
As for not hearing someone called a bear in 10 years of playing, you’ve not been listening very hard, it’s a term that’s thrown around all the time with various subsets applied to it too.
and i see you replying now… without even taking the time to ‘fact-check’ yourself as i recommended. Clearly your pushing your opinion as Truth. Im done with your hard-headed ass…lol. Fly dangerous.
Complete ignorant BS… i told you to google using the words ‘eve online’. Either you cant read, or dont want to. Idiots bewilder me…
Nope, I’m positing an opinion that many would agree is a fair summary of the meaning of the word.
You know. We really should stop thinking that, whatever a mega corporation search engine spits out, is the absolute fact. Just a thought.
Let’s not mention that his definition of carebear is pulled verbatim from a 10 year old stackexchange thread with only 4 answers; and that he didn’t look beyond the featured snippet at the very top of the search results.
Does this guy really need another alt?
Or better yet, that some random nobody on the interwebs opinion trumps what a google search says.
A google search that cites the opinion of random nobodies on the internet as the source…
I just said, that fact checking is not just typing a phrase into a privately owned mega corporations indexing tool. The world is more complex than whatever that single entity conveys.
I find it kinda ironic that you say don’t trust random strangers on the internet, when the quoted definition you wrote is a 21 upvoted post with a 15 upvoted answer. This is literally some random strangers on the internet giving their opinion on the subject, not some objective universal truth or fact.
I have so many points, webs, scrams, abs, mwds, and guns from loot drops
So DAMN many.
You say that like Citadel piñatas aren’t already a thing.
Sol, what did you do to this guy? I’m just curious, because he is really upset with you.
The first step in solving any problem is admitting there is one.
The second step is shooting it until it drops something shiny that you can sell in Jita at a profit.
If I gathered them all up in one place I’d have to use station containers to sort them.
Got 11+ years worth of random loot piles scattered all over hisec and a few in lowsec too.
I have a container in every station I routinely visit called Crap. That’s where all of it goes.
One day I might load a bunch of it into an Iteron and see how far though low sec I can get, just for fun. It really would be like a loot piñata. Smash the industrial ship and see what falls out.
Probably further than autopiloting to Jita
You know he’s lost the argument when this is all he can resort to.
