Scarcity, how the gankers don't want you to see and think about it

Hmm, Ive never been described as a “moderate” before, but given the choices, Ill take it

On the plus side, it is making gun-mining a sensible choice… something all three ‘factions’ can agree on

If Null blocs new what was good for them they would purple up and annihilate CODE.

Given that tritanium is for the moment and possibly for the distant future only available in high-sec, it would be in everyone’s best interest, except for CODE., to wipe them out.

Talk about content that would be a great side quest to the war… Imagine PAPI and Imperium both wardeccing CODE. The high-sec hunts would be legendary…

Oh wait, CODE. is an Imperium baby. They wouldn’t have the balls to dec their own alt alliance.

It’s been 8 years or so since CODE. started operations, and there’s still people that believe a wardec is required to kill them off.

/shakes head sadly.

Completely off-topic question, but;

Is the act of buying PLEX a sink?

Therefore, isnt it in everyone’s interest for more PLEX to be sold?

It depends, if people redeem the PLEX quickly then that’s good for CCP’s bottom line, if people stockpile them then it’s bad for CCP’s bottom line in that they’re services not yet rendered; which for accounting purposes is a debt or liability known as deferred income.

I mean an isk sink tho

Most of the isk simply exchanges hands from one player to the other, so I wouldn’t call it an isk sink.

There technically is an isk sink component to them, but it’s limited to the small amount of fees that NPCs take when listing either sell / buy orders for them.

Yeah thats exactly what Im talking about. I wasnt really making a point per se but was thinking that every PLEX sold is a tiny little sink.

Sorry, the thread was being boring and I started daydreaming.

Yeah, that’s fair.

For any given transaction, it may be tiny, but I’m sure it adds up how much of it is passed around through the market.

My bad, I misunderstood the question.

Perfectly understandable, the subject does come up from time to time around here

The miners who reprocess those modules will continue to get ganked by people who buy ships and modules from miners that manufacture and sell them without worrying about getting ganked because they actively play the game.

The number of times I’ve been ganked in high-sec is low because I use the tools available to me both in game and on the web. I also don’t live in the game. If CODE or someone similar moves into the region I’m in, and it becomes unproductive to play for a bit, the subs get cancelled, I fire up a different game and enjoy it for a while. When I return, CODE has moved on, and I pick up where I left off, throw some more Cats on the market, and undock.

The theory about miners somehow strangling the gank market is understandable, but it has some critical flaws. One is that it assumes there aren’t people who mine and do industry who have become extremely elusive for gankers. Two, it also assumes that null-sec donut lords who have just shy of tree(3) isk aren’t funding ganking corps. Bonus: third, I am going to guess that the theory also assumes that gankers are concerned about isk at all.

They are not new players, and they don’t have any “skin in the game”. Does the billionaire care if a birthday card costs $1.25 or $5.00? no.

Not really.

Someone buys PLEX from CCP, when the PLEX enters the game they have an isk value. Someone uses a PLEX to subscribe or buy something from CCPs shop then that value is removed from the game.

I see it more like a delayed transfer than an actual sink.

uhm, kinda of hard when you are 3 inches tall…child.

now shhhh, and let the adults keep discussing things…carebear.

If you can enforce them they are legitimate.

But no isk is generated and an amount leaves through fees, right?

If for example CODE are removed in highsec. Nullsec alliance will just form another Gangking Party in Highsec. CODE and Other highsec ganker gives balance in highsec, even the Anti gankers are part of that balance. If there is no balance I will be forced to use the six stones and snap my finger and I call that mercy.
