Please fix the mechanics around killing pods before adding more. The current situation makes lowsec play at all levels utterly terrible. Regular combat ships in regular combat fits need to be able to kill pods, or we need lowsec pod bubbles easily usable on any ship or something. Lowsec will remain a cesspit, especially for new players, until this happens.

Also - For content created by collapsing wormholes.
The effect of increasing the spawn rates will be disproportional, favoring larger groups who have the man power to roll for content or secure for farming - If you are in a smaller group it just becomes more grind before you get to fight.

Think more about funneling content through the connections, if frig holes all go to shattered you create thunder domes.

Reduce connections to known space by randomizing statics - There should be a chance your normal static degrades to a Medium C1 … They need to funnel content through systems to crowd them and increase the chance of players running into each other

As a victim, watching your ship die while jammed Hot-dropped without anything you can do about it feels bad. As an ECM Cloaky Camper user the system doesn’t feel great either when you get unlucky are AFK and miss a lot of jams. Hot-Drops . We would love to improve both sides of this coin by giving ECM Cloaky Camping more consistent behavior while also toning down the helplessness that comes with being jammed. Cloaky Camped

  • If you are cloaked and only if you are cloaked, other cloaked ships show up on Dscan.

While I understand that this may be taken as a negative post, I would like to emphasize that balance passes may want to hand tune, various attributes rather than send use a blanket strategy. I was disappointed with the recent AF changes. I did a write up with some finer tuning, prior to the release. Understand that these are my opinions. Presented with as little bias as possible. Also understand that this post is very much from a soloist or small gang perspective. While I know that Harpy and Hawk are used in null, I have a less firm grasp on the N+1 Dynamics.


AF Re-balance

Goal:
To Identify specific balance and use case issues in the AF class.
To prevent AF usage from pushing other specialized ships out of niche usage.
To ensure viable options for active piloting continue to exist for many platforms and fitting styles.

Problem areas
The fitting and slot layout of the Jaguar combined with it’s speed have shifted it from a combat platform to a tackle platform pushing specialized ships out of their intended niche.

Usage of Vengeance and Ishkur are notably rare.

Wolf’s Mid Layout imply a kiting platform but Cap and fitting are slightly sub par.

Starting with the Jaguar, from an empirical standpoint it’s fitting, speed, and tank are some of the highest in the AF class. It boasts the second fastest speed, as well as a strong active tank bonus, It’s tied for the most mids of any AF, and it’s in the top three for overall fitting room.

The initial re-balance shifted it’s weapon system from projectiles to missile, and while this seems an innocuous change this resulted in some of it’s fitting being shifted over to CPU to allow for CPU heavy launchers and damage mods. This allows a specific use case for the hull ignoring the need for launchers and shifting it’s mids into a strong Shield tank. Leveraging it’s speed and shield tank what arises is a non ā€œdpsā€ oriented heavy tackle, combining this layout with the ADC results in a frigate that is best in class for it’s combination of speed and tank-ability. It’s speed is on par with an interceptor with a similar MWD but less strong sig reduction, It’s tank is similar to what you might expect from a cruiser. This combination allows it to easily pin other competitive ships with little counter play being available.

My recommendation for the Jaguar is to bring it’s speed down without ruining it’s theme. Currently it’s nearly 60 m/s faster than the next slowest AF. I would recommend bringing the Jaguar’s speed down to 380 m/s it would still be the second fastest AF at that speed. Additionally it’s signature radius is again the second smallest in the AF Class. To this end I suggest it be brought up to 36 m this will help against application concerns. Lastly I think a small Nerf to CPU is in order bringing it down to 175 tf. While I am not sure that these changes will solve the issue completely it would be a step in the right direction.

I Feel the Wolf is in a very good spot it’s flight style fun and engaging. It falls a bit short in cap stability as well as tank. I recommend a slight increase to cap regeneration, as well as 2 MW additional fitting.

I feel both the Hawk and the Harpy are in good usage and balance. I propose a no changes.

I feel the Retribution is deserving a slight speed increase, it’s favored niche would benefit greatly from this. My suggestion is 310 m/s. at this speed it’s still the slowest AF. It would also be reasonable to just leave the ship alone.

I feel the Vengeance is in a poor usage profile. To this end I suggest a slight speed increase to 330 m/s. As well as a slight damage increase to 5.5 % Rocket damage per Level.

The Ishkur is the only AF that has 11 total slots instead of 12. I feel that it also is in a poor usage profile. To this end I a hesitant to suggest slot changes but perhaps a additional low might be in order. Alongside this I suggest dropping the sig to 38 m and increasing the speed to 345 m/s

I feel the Enyo is in a very reasonable spot in terms of balance. I suggest no changes.
I lack the experience with the Nergal to comment.

Love most of the changes. (the BM was a flop exception)

Filaments great fun for explorers, small gangs, and content within the doughnuts alike, like a box of chocolates!

Structure changes looking good so far. I’d still go deeper to remove the free features for those that don’t maintain/fuel their stuff.

Would love to see short duration nearly unlimited mass wormholes of at least large size–would be tremendous fun.

More ā€œdata collectionsā€ like Black out–hey perhaps not for months, but rolling blackouts as part of or similar to incursions would be great. Space effects like wormhole stuff as well.

The overall objective and concept of the team is great–be bold, keep the variety high and ever changing-- don’t let any player ever get too comfortable.

Yep. I mean, free SP is NICE and all, but I have been vastly enjoying the free SP from the login screen way more than the dailies. Want my event sites back, no matter whether the reward for running them is skins, points towards an event, skill accels, random faction loot, ISK, or some combination of the above. They’re just FUN, no matter what the loot is (so far)…

If you mean that your ammo costs are making HS combat anoms not worth running, then consider switching to either laser gunboats or drone boats (or both… Nestors? Stratioses? ;D)… as the ammo is a lot easier to conserve/make cheaper to replace, etc.

But yes… anoms don’t pay much in HS. However, the chance of faction spawns and faction drops from those spawns… and ofc the chance of DED 3/4/5 site escalations from them DOES pay. Quite well! run the ones that escalate, ignore the ones that don’t. Unless you just want faction spawns.

Well, both moves were kinda… lame. I get melting old snowballs, but maybe they shoulda just melted the ones from 5 years ago and not the ones from last X-mas. I know, last X-mas’s snowballs woulda had to be a different type from the previous ones… well… maybe that shoulda been the case. In any event, now we have a new type this X-mas/winter. Let’s hope they don’t make this a yearly thing, it’s really gonna kill the holiday spirit over and over again/kill the Luminaire party’s snowball funs (I mean, lasers and fireworks are fun, too. but… snowballs are kinda a December-mostly thing, fireworks/lasers work for all sorts of holidays all year long!).

That would be nice. They probably don’t think the forums are a representative sample of the playerbase. But they could always have a poll here, a poll on reddit, a poll in game, a poll on surveymonkey on the web… whatever! here a poll, there a poll, everywhere a poll poll.

I’ve never multiboxed in null, so I can’t answer that part of the question… but I have multiboxed (a bit, just 2 or 3 accounts most of the time) in HS and WHs… and I will say that it’s a very very nice thing to multibox in HS incursions if your FC is okay with it/you’re decent at doing it efficiently. 200 mil ISK per hour sounds nice… I mostly run VG (some AS/HQ) when I incursion, and since the fleet often needs 2 or 3 of me… you can take that lower base pay and multiply it a bit. Depends on the fleet/community, of course.

The main problem with HS incursions is that they dropped the spawns from 3 to 1. I hope they reconsider that decision. But they’re probably as likely to eliminate them entirely as they are to return them to 3 spawns (what they were before Trig Invasions began). Either way, it’s gonna have playerbase (shrinking) or money pool (rising) consequences, though.

All the (old) Sansha deadspace/faction loot that’s tank-related will be swapped over to Blood Raider equivalents as well and all future Sansha deadspace/faction loot that’s tank-related will be shield-based instead of armor-based. (meaning instead of Serpentis/Blood/Sansha being armor equipment and Guristas/Angels being shield equipment, we’ll have Serpentis/Blood dropping armor equipment and Sansha/Guristas/Angels dropping shield equipment. I, for one, look forward to the Sansha equivalent of Pith/Gist-A/B/C adaptive invulns!)

You know, this looks like a good start.
Like any change, there are going to be people who don’t like it/them.

I question the frequency.
Dedicating yourselves to a new concept every two weeks seems heavy to me.
I suspect many times you’ll end up doing nothing or just ā€˜flash-in-pan’ changes.

You should slow that schedule to 3 weeks or even 4 weeks IMHO.
This would give you some time to actually flesh out ideas and concepts
I am certain players would prefer fully fleshed out ideas once a month to half-baked and poorly implemented changes every two weeks.

I am surprised nobody has flamed my ideas as stated earlier.
It is true nobody even mentioned them ( three people ā€˜liked’ them, nobody ā€˜hated’ them ).
I’m going to see if there is a place in the forums to put them.

of course, I can certainly expect them to be flamed mercilessly there.

I like the idea of miners with sub-systems to specialize their role ice/ore/goo & the ability to swap systems to balance yield vs capacity. Industrial haulers with subs-systems to swap out cargo types to give a bigger better version of the Epithal/Kryos/Miasmos seems to have a niche they could fill.

The light carrier ideas needs to be thought out to carry some cons to go with the pros - if you are looking at a drone boat with higher ehp/dps maybe a SOE drone Marauder.

A T3 Dread/Carrier with sub-systems sounds really nioce.

… but Titans, Supercarriers & FAX have been slowly pushed into more & more specialized roles so I can’t see CCP moving towards a general purpose Supersize (although some faction dreads have overlapping roles)

I wish CCP had included bonuses for fuel types when they revamped structures - like if you are using nitrogen fuel & you get a bonus to science modules fuel usage.

Unlikely to be something that Talos do, as it’s larger in scale.

It’s a big change. I’d still hope that, eventually, something happens there.

I think the filaments are really fun and hope they will become a regular feature.
Suggestions:

  1. Find a way for filaments to be an item that newbros acquire as bonus but are not worth farming… maybe find them in low frequency but in high overall number like at: high sec data sites, high sec asteroid rats , Hideouts, and Class 1 DED sites- the goal being to get money to flow from pilots wealthy enough to whelp ships in null sec to new players.

  2. Make them an item that interferes with jump drives and interdiction nullification so transporting them to Null becomes risky

  3. I like that they toss you Null places at random. Maybe sometimes at low profitability they toss you at random in to WH space?

Anyways, it’s been fun.

Fortunately they’re apparently going with a quarterly update/event schedule now. That seems like a much more chill pace than trying to do things every 2 to 6 weeks… and also better than the old old way of only 2 major updates/expansions per year, as well!
