When we put up the first structure months ago, they identified us as bozos who cannot defend it from them. During the month that we expanded our structures to 5 total, they actively monitored the system. Over the next couple months, their interest in us waned as the new status quo held steady.

Of course, I cannot say with any certainty their precise reason for the declaration of war within a week of my forum post. Both sides were maintaining the status quo up until the declaration of war. We are still bozos who cannot defend 5 long-standing structures in Anstard. Please suggest an alternative reason for the Something Really Pretentious alliance to declare war now on some bozos who cannot defend their structures.

Basically, they had actively marked you as targets but wanted you to build up what was IN the athanors with stuff, bpos, material, etc and THEN hit the target when it was “fattened up enough,” like fattening up a goose to slaughter.

So they mark you, let you build up and just sit and watch until they feel they are hungry enough for a feast.

I misunderstood the structure situation in Anstard. Was wrong to suggest the war declaration was retaliation for my forum posts.

You could probably just ask them why they’re doing it but I’m pretty sure it’s because that’s just what they do.

Discovered additional information on zKillBoard after they destroyed the last of our reinforced Athanors. Judging by the first structures destroyed, their primary target was a pair belonging to “FreeMerchNoTax” with public docking permissions. They declared war against all ten structures in system and reinforced 9 of them in the first attack, They returned a few days later to reinforce our last Athanor. Now, that is the only structure still anchored and its days are numbered. Seems like too many structures went into the system and they decided to clear the system.

Some major alliance with a protection racket taking a special interest in my main character.

TBH it’s much more likely to be someone like the player formerly known as Cannibal Kane than a large alliance running a ‘that’s a nice structure, be a shame if something happened to it’ racket.

He sold his character for Plex4Good years ago and I’m not sure if he still plays, but if you ever see ‘Hello there OP’ aimed at you, start worrying - he was, and others like him are, very good at tracking down people hiding behind alts and demonstrating the principles of asymmetric warfare to them.

They’re playing EVE according to the rules that CCP (or whatever they’re calling themselves now) created for the game, and the game mechanics allow them to do it - which is not even close to what you’re claiming. Their tactics aren’t cheap either - it looks easy because they’ve been polishing and refining them for years, while building the logistics and social networks that make them possible at scale in the process.
