Sennett - CSM 21 - Reduce friction, give reasons to undock

Sennett for CSM

Hey, I’m Sennett, co-CEO of Infinite Point and 0.0 Massive Dynamic, and a member of The Initiative.

18 years in EVE. Nullsec, industry, logistics, PvP and corp management. I’m running for CSM to help tackle the friction that gets in the way of playing EVE: Healthier nullsec, meaningful active gameplay, relevant logistics, better tools for corporations, and the small QoL changes that make a big difference. I’m not here to tell FC how to play EVE. I’m here to help them understand how we actually play it

What I Bring

I’ve played EVE almost continuously since 2008. I started in highsec running missions in Drakes and Ravens with friends before moving to nullsec in 2010. Since then, I’ve lived and fought across most of nullsec, spent time in wormholes, managed PvP and industrial corporations, supported alliance-level industry and logistics, and helped build communities for players ranging from new pilots to veteran capital pilots.

I’ve been in corporation leadership since 2011 and CEO/co-CEO since 2013. My experience covers PvP, industry, resource procurement, logistics, corporation management, nullsec and wormhole space.

I’ve also spent a significant amount of time thinking about and implementing how to create and maintain the structures that allow players to generate their own content.

I don’t claim to know everything about EVE. What I do have is 18 years of experience across a broad range of its systems.

  • Nullsec: Experience ranging from small alliances to some of the largest coalitions in the game, including living in and operating across much of nullsec.

  • Industry: Managing industrial groups and building raw-material-to-finished-product pipelines, including production supporting subcapital, capital and supercapital warfare.

  • Resource procurement: Organising moons, PI, sovereignty resources and other material pipelines required to keep industrial operations running.

  • Logistics: Moving large volumes of material between production, staging and frontline operations in both highsec and nullsec.

  • Corporation management: Leadership experience since 2011, including running both a PvP-focused corporation and an industry corporation designed to support alliance warfare.

  • PvP: Experience ranging from F1 fleets to small-gang and BLOPs operations. I’m not primarily an FC, but I’ve spent a long time participating in and supporting PvP.

  • UI and information design: I work in a field where presenting information effectively matters. I’ve played through multiple generations of EVE’s UI and HUD and have a particular interest in making information easier to understand and act upon.

Why CSM?

EVE has been part of my life for more than half of it. Over that time, I’ve had the opportunity to interact deeply with many different parts of the game and, more importantly, with the communities built around them.

I’m running because I want to effect change; my experience across different playstyles, combined with my experience in communication, organisation and data collection, can provide useful feedback to FC.

My goal would be to represent player concerns clearly, understand the underlying problems, and help FC distinguish between genuine friction points and problems that have more complicated trade-offs.

My Current Priorities

Power Projection

The jump bridge changes have reduced some forms of power projection, but there are still questions around the relationship between mobility, infrastructure and the cost/utility of Keepstars.

I’d like to see continued examination of how large-scale infrastructure affects mobility and the ability of smaller groups to establish themselves.

Resource Procurement

Metanox and passive resource generation have changed how players interact with space.

Passive income has a place, but I’m interested in whether the balance between passive and active resource generation is encouraging enough players to actually be in space.

I’d like to examine opportunities for increased active resource generation in the R8–R32 range or disruption opportunities for passive generation.

Logistics

New specialised ships have expanded the options available for moving and supporting assets, while many traditional haulers and freighters have received comparatively little attention.

I’d like to see the logistics ecosystem examined as a whole, with particular attention to giving traditional hauling ships meaningful roles alongside newer specialised hulls.

Nullsec

Recent changes are already affecting how nullsec groups project power and occupy space.

I’m interested in what comes next: how do we create an environment where space can support different-sized organisations, while also giving players reasons to move, interact and generate content?

Corporation Management

Corporation Projects have been a significant improvement to how organisations engage their members.

The underlying corporation-management tools, however, remain restrictive in several areas.

Examples include:

  • More flexible hangar access.
  • More granular permissions.
  • More than eight hangars and wallets where appropriate.
  • Better tools for managing access across multiple structures.

Modern corporations are often much more complex than the tools designed to manage them.

Quality of Life

Small changes can have a surprisingly large effect on the day-to-day EVE experience.

I’d like to continue pushing for improvements such as:

  • Better BPC filtering.
  • The ability to repackage accidentally assembled containers.
  • ACL-enabled containers for groups that need shared access without full corporation hangars.
  • Better fleet and ship grouping tools.
  • More flexible ways to organise commonly used ships and fittings.

These aren’t necessarily headline features, but they remove friction from the game people play every day.

What Players Can Expect

I’m interested in hearing from players regardless of their corporation, alliance, playstyle or experience level.

I want to help FC:

  • Continue improving quality-of-life systems.
  • Identify friction that affects both new and veteran players.
  • Improve the tools available to corporations and alliances.
  • Maintain meaningful reasons for players to be active in space.
  • Support a diverse and sustainable nullsec ecosystem.
  • Make decisions based on player experience, data and the practical realities of operating these systems.

I’m not interested in representing only one corner of EVE. My experience is primarily shaped by nullsec, industry and corporation management, but I understand how proposed changes affect the wider game.

If you disagree with me, think I’ve missed something, or have an issue you think the CSM should understand, **DM me. I’m happy to talk.
**
TL; DR

I’m running for CSM to bring broad experience to the table and help FC identify the friction points that affect both new and veteran players.

My main areas of focus are:

  • Nullsec: Reduce power projection and empire sprawl
  • Industry & Resources: Balancing passive income with incentives for active gameplay.
  • Logistics: Keeping traditional haulers and freighters relevant
  • Corporation Management: More flexible permissions, hangar access and organisational tools.
  • Quality of Life: Removing the small, persistent frustrations that make EVE harder to use than it needs to be.
  • Player Feedback: Listening to players across corporations, alliances and playstyles, and bringing practical, evidence-based feedback to FC.

Get in Touch

I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t expect to.

What I do have is 18 years of experience playing, leading, building, fighting, producing and moving things around New Eden.

If there’s something you think the CSM should be talking about, come find me and tell me why.

Thank you for both letting us know your strong points, but also acknowledging what you don’t know and that you are open to others ideas and thoughts. Too many CSM candidates are pushing soley their play style at the cost of other play styles instead of, in my view, trying to make the ecosystem heather for all by thinking hollistocially. “A rising tide floats all boats” and these basic, fundemental management and play style updates will move us all to a more enjoyable experience and incentives us all to log on by removing “grindy” / frustrating actions.

I need to review all the candidates for CSM, but I believe you will be getting on of my votes for sure.

Hello @sennett , what about this?

  • The connection between EVE Online and EVE Vanguard

Do you have any expectations what that could be, how it could work? I am aware there is nothing tangible yet, but it’s rather inevitable if I red FC correctly.

Hey there!

Thanks for the comment!

I won’t pretend to be a specialist on Vanguard integration, but I was a fan of the idea behind Dust 514’s orbital bombardments. It’d be a spectacle, though potentially a little stale for EVE players.

I’ve seen suggestions about increasing loot in EVE Online by having additional drops land planetside, where Vanguard mercs would need to recover and transport them. I’m not sure that’s economically viable, though; some value needs to be lost to the void.

Personally, I’d prefer a more synergistic system. Vanguard mercs need materials moved, so EVE players could defend convoys to reduce resupply costs or provide additional firepower to troops on the ground. In return, they could generate some form of loot for EVE players, whether planetary goods or something else.

The bigger question is where to implement this. Obviously, not across all 64,000+ planets. Perhaps only planets that produce sovereignty materials? Faction warfare makes thematic sense, but it’d also confine the system to regions that see relatively little interaction with the wider EVE community. Could it encourage more engagement? Possibly, but in my experience, the rewards would have to be pretty overpowered to achieve that, which isn’t sustainable long-term. Maybe, like with the exploration loot and capital building, you can drive engagement that way, but I do fear it’d be relatively easy to monopolise.

What are your opinions? please do either reply here or shoot me a DM on Discord (search sennett on the official discord server, you’ll find me)

Hello,

what exactly is wrong with Keepstars, except being horribly under powered combat wise?
