One suggestion is to use separate launcher profiles for your FC alt and your line member alts. Set the line member profiles to the lowest graphic settings, and keep your GPU for the one you look at the most.
I also use a program called Eve-O Preview, that gives me small preview panels of my other clients on top of my active one. It has an option to minimize clients when they aren’t active, which will also reduce your GPU load. Eve-O Preview is TOS compliant, since it only gives you a glimpse and not any control over inactive clients. You can find a topic with a github link here in the forums.
Nah was not posting because of the duplicate nature of the suggestion, actually believe the more people suggest it the better. Just saying if CCP actually listened to such suggestions imagine we could already have this as an option.
I doubt it while its not the newest pc its still holding up
this pc is a
amd ryzen 5 1600x
with 16ddr4
and GTX 1080..
(also just cleaned it and changed cooler pasta, while i put the new rig toghter)
My new rig that i just got up and running 4-5 days ago is a
Ryzen 7 5800x
32gb ddr4
RTX 4060 Ti
Since its fresh it also means its a clean install with pretty much nothing to slow down its performance
well i dunno id just love the option to disable/reduce station graphics for all chars but my main… while keeping space graphics decent for all of em.
since thats where i will be watching actively when docked im either busy doing stuff on the main or afk
You still didn’t answer if you have set it up to be VSYNCed and to what value. Either you have it not VSYNCed and it therefore has high power usage by generating more frames than necessary or you have it VSYNCed to a high framerate by your monitors profile and mabye it is above 60 fps and putting a lot of stress to your GPU. So you need to reduce the monitor fps in windows.
Both is possible.
I’m zoomed out with the tactical overlay the majority of the time, and only ever look at my ships in station. I’d like a version of Crtl-Shift-F9 that only works when undocked, because I like looking at my ships, just not when in space.
So I guess I agree with your suggestions that we should have separate settings for docked and undocked. I’d certainly use that feature. I use the suggestions I gave above to resolve this issue at the moment.
