High Security =| Total Security
Yup! By design, by design this game is for human beings who are born with a self-cherishing mind that has endless self-grasping.
So EVE is just like crack for human mind and it is by design… the game is made in a way that self identification happens over and over.
What do we do then?
Just like we weren’t prepared to live real life, EVE players weren’t prepared to play EVE… the new AIR tutorial is quite good because from the tutorial you already start dying, it’s quite beautiful. Now the AIR career there is an achievement of destructiom, that is being destroyed many times.
CCP did a good job in the AIR stuff wit that, this new view on the subject is the right direciton.
What, bribes rather than quality, engaging gameplay?
Is the Frigate prize still as sweet after your 200th NPC kill?
Someone doesn’t know how capitalism works huh?
Must be shocking
Oh, people still cried plenty
True story.
It’s a good post and theory overall, but I still totally disagree with this. If you look at players who get toxic after being killed, most have completely generic characters, many with gibberish names, generic portraits, and no bios. Having killed thousands of players over the years, the conclusion I came to is that most of them get the shakes, or get angry and toxic after taking losses, only because they either have the potential to lose assets and money during an encounter, or have lost assets and money during an encounter. Most people are greedy little hoarders (it’s hardwired into our instincts), and being forced to part with some possessions is more painful than being cut with a knife.
People who become attached to their characters have evolved beyond this base form through philosophy/rationalization of their in-game existence. Those people are actually less likely to become angry and toxic when killed, because the intelligence that they possess that is required to reach this next step also makes them understand that getting angry and lashing out will accomplish absolutely nothing, and definitely won’t improve their situation if they take a loss. I’ve very rarely seen experienced PvPers display a high degree of toxicity.
I think it depends greately on the circumstances.
We all know some take it easier than others but never if common sense dictates that an action is unfair. Which is the difference with real life, where there is often chance to get back. Most don’t take that chance, but it’s there.
High sec as example, is a trap or a test, coded as is intentionally, bottlenecks placed strategically and in general, mechanics favor the trap and even tho one cannot fight or get back to all inconvenients derived from it, in the end, is part of the curriculum, as toxic, as an npc attack, People just want to fight back at people even if they have zero skills and the grudge hold can outlive the person… or the toon in this case.
Most of the best times in EVE took place with a feud as background because they knew for certain that they were coming back at it… the majority ended in good friendships along the ranks afterall.
In other words, I believe more ways of fighting back could be coded, far beyond the time lapse of an encounter, fair or not, which could be interesting… but never “eternal”.
When I 1st started playing Eve it was pretty renowned for being a hardcore game; a single shard sandbox like the wild west. I don’t think it’s ever been advertised as a pink and fluffy cushioned care bear environment, so I can’t understand why people complain about what Eve is. Over the years CCP has even made it less hardcore yet even then people complain.
In a RL example, I can remember a pub getting a complaint to the council from a person who purchased a house next to the pub. WTF, you knew you were buying a house next to a pub so how can you not expect the noise etc from the pub. Who would buy a house without due diligence of the environment?
That analogy is for people who play Eve and expect not to be in a PvP environment.
supposing all you say is true
i kinda get it
but i really think you have to much hate in your life
try this
it worked wonders for me
no joke
btw audible version is THE BEST create a account get it for free , I’m not paid or work on amazon but man , this may be the best recommendation i could ever give
Yes, I believe there is this second type of people, they really don’t see the ship as a ship.
They see the ship as if it was some kind of seed of a wish-fulling tree that can give infinite fruits of wealth, future and fame. When that ship dies they go completely nuts as if you cancelled their entire future.
What if people feel frustrated and powerless, since they have no idea what to do next?
Knowledge is very powerful in EVE, when you learn the game enough you see opportunities everywhere.
After reading the OP and every other reply in this whole thread, all I can say is…
‘‘What a colossal waste of time’’
yeah
i also miss my date with a super model
my weekly talk with F Tim Cook
and don’t even start talking about Davos
Figures you’d be toxic
I did not consent for any PVP if they want to grief people they can go to the PVP server.
Lol, there is no pvp server. And griefing only exists for new players in the starter areas. Anything after that is legit
This is not Elite Dangerous, buddy.
No solo mode here.
Definately marking these toxic griefers and petitioning this bad gameplay. @Ax_l_Thorne @Geo_Eclipse_Oksaras watch out for friendly players these guys up to no good
Lol.
Dude im like one of the biggest carebears on the forums. Even the gankers will laugh at you for suggesting im toxic lol.
Shooting someone for any reason doesn’t constitute griefing. Sorry not sorry but that is how EVE is, was and hopefully always will be
You’re playing the wrong game man.
When you undock, you’re consenting to pvp. It’s been like that for the last 18 years.
Why should it change for you?
EVE is such a great game that it mimics real life in several aspects
the tribalism is one
people fight with their brothers
they think that they are a victim because they don’t do PVP , and think that all PVP players are toxic
what they don’t observe is that in EVE as in life the only oppressive force is the MANY vs the INDIVIDUAL
nowadays some people started to use the expression silent majority
BUT they use it backwards , they think that the silent majority is the many normies vs the few woke
thats because they didn’t read "enemy of the people " and didn’t even know who was Henrik Ibsen
because people are dumb
I’m anti woke like the next man but that always gets on my nerves
you are not oppressed by the princess or by DC or by me
you are oppressed by the fossilized opinion of the silent majority that in the end turns into a leviathan with infinite power
“todo poder emana do povo”
all power emanate from the people , is written in the Brazilian constitution
in other words if you have a oppressive system that you dislike is because YOU the people made it so, you deserve it , eat it fool , or grow some balls and turn yourself from a sheep into a person
stop blaming your brother and take some ■■■■■■■ responsibility
i will end this AMAZING post with a spoiler from the final page of Henrik Ibsen 1882 book
