Should High-Sec Actually Be Safe? ☠️

That’s quite a few number of people “not in their right mind” suicide ganking sub 5m isk ships.

Nah, not really. I mean if you make hi sec 100% safe you’ll do a lot of damage to the game which is a PvP game from its foundations up to today. If you took PvP away, you kill the excitement and thrill of being one step ahead of those that are trying to blow you up. I don’t think you should be shooting at new bros though. Give them some time to get settled in. overall the game has done fine up until now so why change it? Let sleeping dog lie imo.

You mean the same CEO with multiple games that released to critical commercial failure? The same CEO that had to sell EVE to Pearl Abyss? That CEO? I feel he shouldn’t be used as anything other than a example of how not to be successful.

There are many many ways to engage in PvP outside of suicide ganking. The corp I’m in currently has something like five different wars going on. I don’t know why people keep acting like all ship destruction will simply cease if people can’t suicide gank a Hulk with a group of Catalysts.

T1 haulers are loot pinatas. No one should be should be hauling anything of actual value in them.

And why not? You’re unlikely to profit from ganking ventures, and shuttles, and definitely pods, but EVE is about fun first and foremost, and cheap ships often produce some very salty tears.

Because high sec is supposed to be the place where new players can learn how to play the game. If even literally dirt cheap T1 frigates with nothing of value in them are being suicide ganked? Then that’s a big sign something’s wrong.

It will be interesting to see what CCP does with these new “starter systems”. Perhaps they’ll be “super high security” systems where you can’t take any aggressive actions at all, and CONCORD has a 1 second response time even if you somehow did.

Personally, I think they’re making more work for themselves, that they will not finish, instead of simply fixing the root issues

I know that and found different ways around it.

hmmm, meh…

Selling to PA for like 230 somting million, and personally selling his personal stocks in CCP to something like 40 million… the fact ccp and eve are like 20 yrs old… and still kicking. making profits that pa are proud of???

i would think he was/is quite successful

Theres nothing wrong here. The only problem i keep seeing is this big misconception that high sec is a safe place that nothing will happen to you….either being a newbro or a vet. Learning to avoid those kind of folks is part of that “learning” process youre speaking of.

Please help to stop spreading this huge misconception.

Why did you waste all your tome typing this? You are wrong and your conclusions you’re drawing are incorrect.

I can’t help but notice you have no timeline on this blurb…
I see a total of 4 yesterday, 2 the day before, and 2 the day before that. A total of 24 ventures on that list for all of last week. You posted the numbers but took no notice of the length of time. In fact, by the time I surfed back to page 12, I was seeing kills 6 months ago.

Nice attempt at statistic juggling.

Checks out

Do we really need another one of these threads?

High Sec is safe enough the way it is.

EvE is unique and has survived as long as it has because it is not safe. Watering down the PvP aspects of the game is going to decrease player count long term, not increase it.

Please stop with the doom and gloom fear mongering. Please stop demanding to nerf other player’s content. High Sec space is very safe, just learn to d-scan, scout, don’t fly afk and expect to be safe, and fit a tank.

That is really all one needs to be safe in high sec for 99% of the time.

Additionally, the embed implies that the number of ganked ventures is over a million, but that is actually the total number of recorded venture losses regardless of means.

The actual number of venture losses bearing the highsec gank tag (all time) is only 37,000.

In the last 90 days, there are 263 venture lossmails bearing the highsec gank tag, or fewer than 3 per day.

Entirely reasonable, arguably lower than it should be.

Lol…..the usual dishonesty in presenting stats.

In fact, in the past 7 days…

1967 Ventures were destroyed

497 in nullsec

924 in lowsec

451 in w-space

95 in highsec

So….almost 2000 Ventures destroyed in the past week. A mere 95 of that in highsec. And a mere 25 of those 95 were due to ganking.

A mere 1.27% of all Ventures lost are due to ganking.

And?

I was merely pointing out that people do suicide gank even the lowest of ventures.

Why is the focus always on the absurdly low 1% or 2% as if it were 99% ? Whilst utter carnage goes on all across EVE, the numbers ganked are tiny.

I mean like……101,000 ships were destroyed in EVE in the past week. A piddling 421 of those were ganked.

That is 0.4% of all ship losses in EVE. It is a mere 4.5% of all the 9351 ships destroyed in highsec.

Yet you guys rattle on and on and on and on and on and on and on as if 99% of all the carnage in EVE was highsec ganking.

99.6% of all the ships destroyed in EVE are not destroyed by ganking. That is the true perspective for those not suffering from Highsec Derangement Syndrome.

I’m currently sitting at 20 billion ISK. I can afford to destroy a lot of Ventures
