Shower though: High investment high risk high reward pve/pvp excursion

I will try to tldr it:

  1. Load probe with investments that will be needed to succeed. Skill Points, BPO’s/BPC’s, one empty clone each, probe serves as a home station and will give corvettes. Each member of your team can put a clone, skill points, and such in it.

  2. Only data can be sent back. Data will be the rewards perhaps in the form of new or rare bpc’s. Invested skill points can also be sent back.

  3. Each solar system has a time limit before which the team must either choose to send back the data or open a worm hole to the next more difficult solar system. Higher level rewards are in each subsequent solar system.

  4. The probe can be used to either send back the data or open a worm hole to the next solar system. I think that this choice can be made at any time before the time limit expires.

  5. At some tier of competition with other player teams only one worm hole can be opened so the teams must fight it out with the pvp, deals, and backstabbing.

  6. As you move up the tiers loss of Skill Points becomes a real possibility. My thought was that it would always be a possibility but then decided to be nicer at the lower tiers.

This is just a random idea that involves high risk investment of LP, Isk, and time. It would be geared towards rewarding highly organized groups of players.

Longer thought with some lore below:

Envision a different galaxy then Eve. It is, or was rather, a large spiral galaxy that is now comprises of a thin remnant ring of solar systems around a collapsed center. Due to natural causes or maybe the result of a terrible war by the inhabitants of that galaxy about ninety nine percent of the original galaxy has been consumed by a black hole leaving the ring of solar systems as previously mentioned. NPC survivors eek out a brutal living on that ring of systems.

Due to the effects of the black hole and the proximity of those solar systems there is no escape for those peoples. The only thing that could possibly escape from the edge of the black hole is data.

This is where we the residents of the Eve galaxy come in but how are we the players to go there and retrieve the goodies when it would be a one way trip? Good news. The industries of Eve have been thinking of this as well and have produced a device. This device is similar to a colonist ship in that it must be loaded with players and such.

Now comes my vision of the risk of loss.

Due to some technical reasons that are above my paygrade or ability to comprehend very little can be sent in this device. Effects of the black hole make it impossible to send players with skills. Only a modest contingent of frigates can be sent with the device, or probe if you will.

Since any capsuleer’s lp would be lost then only blank clones of yourself could be placed into the probe for the trip. But one would still require skills to function on the other side correct? To remedy this problem one would either remove LP from a character or buy skill injectors from the market. The skill injectors are placed in your compartment of the probe. One would also require skill books upon arrival correct? How much LP do you invest? Which skill books do you buy and put into your compartment? I dont know. That is up to you. (edit, buy bpc’s or bpo’s to invest into the probe as well so you can make the stuff you need when you arrive)

Upon arrival you reinject your LP and use the skill books you brought. You enter your frigate. You look at the sun in the solar system you arrived at and the sensor readings of the probe have informed you that it is in the final stages of going nova. Yes you are under a time constraint. Now it is time to gety to work. Industrialists now is the time for you to do your thing for the transmitter needed to send back the invested LP points and the BPC’s must be built. Industrialists you are needed to build a home for your team. Explores you are needed to find the data. Ratters you are needed for the local NPC’s are unfriendly and nasty. PvPrs you are needed for you are not alone here as other teams from New Eden have arrived as well. It is time for all to work together.

How I envision combining a layer of PVE with ever higher layers of player competitions:

It is a pyramid of ever increasing risk and rewards. The base of the pyramid is PVE only and has the lowest tier of rewards. So kind of like this upside down pyramid I will attempt to make below. To achieve the highest rewards a team must be the final victor over all others. Each thing in brackets is a team of players who chose to be together on this and made the LP and isk investments. Inside each set of brackets is a solar system and at least one team of players. As mentioned above the sun is approaching nova so each team must either choose to move to another solar system or transmit their data.

(PVE vs team) (PVE vs team) (PVE vs team) (PVE vs team) (PVE vs team) (PVE vs team) ->Nova

All teams either transmitted their data or moved to the next tier.

(PVE vs team vs team) (PVE vs team vs team) (PVE vs team vs team) -Nova

All teams either transmitted their data or moved to the next tier.

(PVE vs team vs team) (PVE vs team vs team) ->Nova

All teams either transmitted their data or moved to the next tier.

(PVE vs team vs team) ->Nova - There is only one transmitter in this system. There can be only one victorious team at the top.

I don’t need 8 paragraphs talking about the lore behind this. Doesn’t matter how good or bad the lore is, what matters is the game play. So, can I get a TLDR concerning the actual content?

Anyway, I do think that PvE that incorporates direct competition and/or PvP into it sounds like fun, and is fitting with the nature of Eve (unlike restricting content to 1 ship).

Thanks. In the future if I write something I will try to make it short and sweet. And any lore will be at the bottom to read or not as you wish.

I have often thought Eve would benefit from this type of one-way adventure.

I understand 0% of how this works.

Sorry. Late response. very late. Its ok. Its just a random thought.

Lets see…

Its a place where you go but you start from scratch with nothing like a newb. Nothing except for the skill books, unallocated skill points, and bpc’s or bpo’s you chose to bring with you. Its kind of like a battle ground with eliminations each round. At at round you and the other team in your solar system must both either choose to bow out and take what loots you were able to get, or to push on to the next level. If you both want to advance to the next level then pvp applies, it always applied as you could have crushed your opponent from the start. The higher you go the more dangerous it becomes. The higher you go the more punishing it becomes as the ability to bow out is removed and your team can only survive by destroying the other team.

Its ok if you think its dumb. No problem at all.
