Signature Suppressor for EVERYONE! Including frigates!
Why?
Fitting sig suppressor on a BS is a BS! No one is doing this.
You are wasting mid slot for some damage reduction ONLY vs bigger guns, like bombs, capital guns, maybe missile volley?
And that’s all? No, thanks. :((
However.
If to fit it into a FRIGATE - that things will start to shine super good!
Imagine Ishkur (with “abundant” 4th midslot) with sig LESS than 30m!
Imagine Thalia (with “abundant” 3rd midslot) with sig WAAY LESS than 30m!
I’m not even talking about Interceptors and Dramiels!
As a bonus side-effect, this change might even the odds for armour fleets vs shield fleets with Cenotaphs cancer! By reducing NON-BREACHER DPS.
Bring back ECM Burst modules for EVERYONE!
Spearheading enemy fleet with tanky “bursters” was a valid daring tactic - you just removed it for NO REASON! Or some target group cried out for this change maybe? Or mabye someone should learn how to not fly on ANCHOR???
New module idea - variation of ECM Burst: Nagual Veil Emitter
What:
hi-slot EWAR module for saving allies by breaking all locks from targeted ship
targeted ship retains all locked entities after module activation
can be used to “delay” focused fire pressure in a fleet fight, so logis have slightly more time to react
can be used as last-resort save for high-value ship (align_out>break_lock>warpout)
Details:
requires lot of capacitor, so only BS+ can equip it OR specialized EWAR hulls, which should have bonus for its cap usage
makes “utility” Battleships (such as Dominix w/ECMBurst!) more fun to play!
should have more less same PG reqs as Medium Capacitor Booster (around 150pg)
should have moderate CPU not less than 30cpu, but not too big like 60cpu, not sure here
should have relatively long cooldown (around 1min)
range should be close to the optimal of fleet command bursts
Here is the AI-flavored description:
Summary
Developed by the Servant Sisters of EVE as an ultimate defensive measure for high-priority evacuation assets, the Nagual Veil Emitter operates on principles derived from Jove quantum-displacement research.
Upon activation, the device projects an ultra-short sub-space pulse at the target vessel, causing its quantum signature to momentarily shift into a non-observable state — colloquially termed the ‘Nagual Effect’. During this micro-second shift, all external targeting arrays locking the vessel lose spatial coherence and are immediately flushed, while the vessel’s internal neural link remains completely unaffected.
I have done some fleets where both we and the opponents used multiple ECM burst ships and I can tell you it’s not really fun. Lock, fire, lose lock, relock, fire, lose lock, relock, fire, fire, lose lock… it’s fun in a 3 minute fight, it’s absolute cancer in a 30 or 60 minute fight. Especially in a scenario where both sides have tons of logi that can for most parts move a bit around and/or are pumped full of remote sebos with ECCM scripts anyway (aka the average logi having around 3x the sensor strength of the average DPS ship), so nobody can break anything any more. Unless one side horribly blobs out the other one.
No thanks. Same goes for Remote-ECMs…
About Sig Suppressors… well yeah they would need some love, I agree that atm they are pretty useless. I somewhat assume they are meant to prevent Battleships getting instakilled by Capital Weaponry? But really, their activation time is too short and their cooldown too long.
Sig suppressors really help BS survive in big fleet fights.
Frigs used to be better at sig tanking but everyone was butthurt so it was nerfed, I doubt we’ll see sig suppressors on smaller ships any time soon.
ECM bursts were a get out of jail card for anything tackled, I’m glad they are restricted.
Your new module is kinda interesting, but makes it too easy to always save ships in a fleet fight, I think ECM and damps is good enough as is, and if you want to free a tackled ship you need to jam/damp his tacklers, and communicate about which they are.
I thought that’s obvious, but seems I need to explain:
ECM burst is a cancer only if you concentrate ships in one place. So the number one solution is to position themselves accordingly.
Also, “impending bursters” is the threat which needs to be addressed early, at the fleet compositioning stage.
If you have 5Basilisks, 15Feroxes (full tank and a prop) and two Huginn+Lachesis.. well - you screwed. You don’t have enough “control”.
And instead of addressing it by:
teaching your people to move and not be cluttering in one place and
bringing more “control ships”, who can either destroy or pin down opposing bursters,
you decided to cryo on forum to nerf the module. Soo classic!
It’s like saying nowadays: “Oh, I cannot use my tanks because there are too many FPVs out there, please, nerf!”. That’s why now over-concentration == death.
I also add, that in small scale, ECM Burst isn’t much of a problem, because someone should sacrifice their 2nd or 3rd account “slot” to be filled with “disposable burster” role.
So, you don’t bring additional DPS ship, you don’t bring additional LOGI ship,.. which probably have more impact in the long run.
It only happens in the nullsec, where peoples are many.
But there are other target groups of players (small-midscalers) whose opinions aligns differently.
Where do I place my ships such that a fleet of interceptors does not jam my toaster, while also having a way to counter that fleet?
They’re interceptors and near impossible to catch. Cheap and disposable, so easily spammable so even catching a few does nothing to stop the strategy.
Where is the counterplay?
Where do I place my remote cap transfer logi wing such that they are within each other’s cap transfer range, but also far enough apart so that an unstoppable interceptor wing cannot simply warp on top of them and burst jam the group?
Where is the counterplay?
Burst jamming interceptors have been awful for the game, and I’m glad they’ve been removed.
Thus far I have heard no good reason to return it except that you call all these big gameplay issues irrelevant because they don’t apply to your particular niche. Selfish.
Such a strange person:)
I’ve already told that no one FORCES you to pile up all ships in one place - just dodge!
Cap transferer is how much? 70km? ECM Burst is how much - 13km? What are you talking about - you have plenty of space for maneavur!
Also bring anti-tackle, this is so obvious.
I also add, that that ECM Burst was kind of a “leverage” with which smaller fleet might overcome bigger crowd, now this tactic is gone. We still can fit those on Command BC and BS which is something, but the effectiveness is greatly decreased (much easier to “screen” those away).
