Singleplayer EVE

Already exists, let me introduce you to the X game franchise

No. X series isn’t what I mean. Yeap I know these series. And you’re not first who sad about it.

It sometimes feels, with all the whining from PvE-ers about PvP-ers ‘interrupting’ their game, as if Eve already is a single player game.

It sometimes feels like people form their opinions about the player base from spending all their time in the forum instead of the game.

Sure, but that IS a single player EVE, you aren’t likely to find anything else like it

Meh…no, I came across far more people in the eight hours I was in Eve yesterday than I ever do on the forums. Speaking of which…time to go blap something…

Some don’t seem to get that other players are actually playing the game at the same time.

Docking should be a player skill, jita would be hilarious

For everyone recommending the ‘X series’…

I say, NO!

X3 and X4 are garbage with controls. THe games are decent concepts, but the controls are just… horrifyingly bad.

Avorion. That’s where the money is. Maybe not as pretty, but closer to Eve with logical controls and more actual resource gathering and building, and less trying to remember hot keys and station trading.

How would I get away with it in a single player game? Hard pass.

@Machinegunner_Bob I didn’t see anyone suggest switching to the Singularity server. No one plays there, even if they do show up they can’t do anything to you. To my understanding it is a test server and anything you do there can get erased, so there is no permanence there.

I played on another MMO that allowed a “God Mode” server of sorts, it gets old and boring real fast. The whole idea behind being online with real people, most NPC AI just suck at being any sort of challenge. Most common AI are the ones that walk or run at your character, allowing you to shoot them in a single file line. Eve Online “dog fights” are not so much about being quick or out maneuvering, just having the better build or the better ship in the fight.

People are suggesting the multitudes of other options, but I will toss the Singularity server at you as an option.

Helloo forum :grinning:

I like a good single-player game but there are very few good ones and I only like a handful.
EVE, with all its factions and agents and pirates ,could be entertaining for a while but it would suffer from the same limitations of any other single-player game.

The trouble with single-player games is the AI isn’t sophisticated enough to create good situations and real challenges and mostly runs dumb like on rails, it becomes easily anticipated and easily played. That’s why Open-world games are popular, they feel less like a scrpt and more spontaneous.
Until the AI for single-player games become as free agent as a human is, MMOs will have the exclusivity of unscripted situations in games.

What would be even more hilarious is if Concord started issuing and enforcing a ‘No Loitering’ policy for all major Trade Hubs…

The new expeditions and updates are nice though, and those new Sentinel ships, wow.
