Slippery resources

Hello High-APM fans,

What if asteroids and ice had velocity/orbit in the grid? Higher-value ones move faster? Webs effective on them? how would it impact multiboxing and botting?

And when you want to warp back to your asteroid bookmark and you find the asteroid is now 140km away ?

Align and MJD

Alternatively warp to friend/alt that is keeping roids in range.

Mining becoming more active should probably lead to mining ships getting more fitting slots and/or CPU.

It will create new problems for both miners and gankers.

From technical point of view it will put load on all server nodes by calculating all those vectors for speed, position e.t.c.

Aye. It seems higher-APM content increases server load.

Curious how much performance would improve without clipping—e.g., flying through things instead of bumping off of them etc.

For example If it cuts TiDi a lot, seems worth the tradeoff.

aaaand you just negated the whole thing. bots and multiboxers could just keep an alt out there for that reason. You’re only punishing the solo miner at that point.

It’d be interesting with a test on singularity with clipping off. To see how the game feels without it and how much it improves performance. But I digress.

@Gealbhan I wouldn’t put it that way. For example the solo miner could fit for agility and be fine. But if he mines with others their efficiency may improve. Thats a good thing considering it’s a multi-player game?

meh, I’ve been playing since 2007. I’ve done the whole bit and I prefer flying solo now days. I did like my time in null though, afaik pandemic horde now controls that space. Since 2019 I’ve been basically putting around doing my thing and ignoring everyone.

@Gealbhan For some reason that cracked me up.

I would like to suggest the test server gets moving asteroids and ice. It will be tricky to get right.
