Slowing down the decline of EVE

Before jump freighters, the way you’d move goods from nullsec to empire was carriers with the ship bays stuffed with industrials. That ended when jump freighters were introduced.

The idea of freighters being escorted by a fleet of ships for an entire 40 jump trip is a fantasy.

…but that is the point. We need to move more practical, “realistic” was to both make life more challenging but without limiting activities too much. JF are a huge easy button…make owning/operating one of them (more of ) a fantasy and turn convoys more into a reality.

The big red easy buttons are what need to be fix in EVE and JFs are a good example of that. Not saying to get rid of them but make the choice more polarized: JF or convoy…

And one corp will have the ability to blap one convoys (they already have the ability to blap JF ) and thus nobody will move stuff at all out/in HS. no more T2 of any kind in HS.

The real issue is that jump drive are too powerful. They should not make you travel faster than by warping from gate to gate.

You are branded a pirate. Not some empire citizen that parked a car on a handicapped space. You start with a fixed -10 sec that cannot be altered. And a -10 to all empires you cannot alter. Pirate for life. Then go gank. Enjoy a challenge. Or are you only in it for stolen valor?

You are right about a giving them an inch and them wanting a mile ^

I think new pilots to New Eden are able to follow rules more than old school pilots due to various reasons.

You could say that about the current version of eve. But that’s not what you said is it?

delete me.

Why are those changes so mindblowing to you?

When I started, in 2003, I got robbed by my CEO and got conned into going to LS by a group of pilots who quickly killed me.

If you quit a game over one mistake, you might as well not play any.

This game used to be like diving into a river of chaos…

It was somewhere between a comedy roast, an MMO, and true pandemonium… And that was what I liked about it.

Noobs would learn to mine and do basics in a spawn system and by the time they got to the profession systems (where the tutorial agents sent you) they were doing their tutorials while watching fleet fights, smack talk in local, and being romances by criminals of many variants.

It was remarkably social… for both better and worse.

As a noob, I banded together with other noobs to jet can mine… because the mechanics demanded it.

And I dreamed of the day I could help kill the criminals I saw infesting the system.

Here is an article I wrote a couple years ago about the decline of emergent gameplay.

The new player experience is more like training for a job now. It’s straight forward, safe and distractionless.

Boring as crap, if you ask me.

I used to love this game. No idea how anyone plays in highsec these days… nothing happening, social or otherwise, system after system.

Game died years ago for me and my ilk.

Entice capsuleers to mine and haul. Improve market pvp. Expand fw to high security space deemphasing plexes as a novice plex is generally not novice friendly and we are in space we should be fighting by celestial bodies. Expand PI. Push industry and meta gameplay further into low, null and wormhole space via taxes. Break up the jita cartels while expanding growth and development out. Isk barriers. There is no decline it is a plot by extremists to break the game.
Don’t listen to goons.

Love this idea. Could even add a layer of faction warfare between pirate factions in some places with modified mechanics.

Pick one of these and tell us how.

New players should be rewarded with skill points for activity in the game. Most boring thing for newbie is to wait while 5-10 days pass and you finally get your skill V leveled. As soon as noob close game for several days, it may not start it again. CCP could use activity tracker and reward with skill points instead of just rank. Make people involved in rank progression for at least 3 months from start. Need to increase the number of ranks in each group or implement weekly reset. People should see a way how to progress character faster, understand that just making ISKs with boring repetitive activity is not the best way to achieve this goal and try different roles.

You know you can do thing in the interim right?

I have left the game twice since 2006, both times I found myself looking for a replacement to, and each time I found myself wanting!
My advice is take a break, divest yourself of everything if you want a fresh beggining or even go to the extreme of starting a new character.
The one thing that makes EVE is the other players, that is the dynamic that really makes this game!

So whats the difference between your boring isk activity and applying that same mechanic to skill points? Exp gain cannot and will not work in eve.

I lack data only ccp has
