These days with the same money you can get skill injectors etc and actually become quite good. No chance against legacy players but still good.

I joined when alpha’s were still fine for trading, got about 100b from station trading and bought plex from that ever since. I just set some orders once a day and the return is enough to sub.
I think I read an article online in 2006 (I think?) about a player (aka gambler) of Entropia who paid $100,000 real cash for a space station. I tend to believe articles of this nature are either hype or urban myths. I cannot visualize anyone sane buying a virtual toy for that much money.

What you need to visualize is a person to whom $100k is nothing. You see similar stories for them going to nightclubs and spending tens of thousands of dollars on drinks.
If you think about it, if you have $10,000 in the bank then how you feel about spending $10 is comparable with how someone with a $1,000,000 in the bank feels about spending $1,000.
I can tell you, I used to think 1k was a lot of money.
Once you’re able to make that daily, the perspective shifts indeed … it’s very overwhelming …
