So when does the new mechanic for ganking and standings drops take effect?

Yes, I know. His arguments are just so patently wrongheaded. Every day I struggle to ignore him and just let him dominate the entire forum with his gaslighting.

Is there anything valuable left in your world?

lab?

I mean you would know. You literally griefed her

Except when its part of the game, it isn’t

They chose to play

I get you think this is some sort of sick burn but it honestly just makes you appear super, super cringe bro.

I mean it confirms your boomer status forever LOL.

Well course. You lack the will power to do so

I camped a couple of people into their wormhole yesterday, with the goal being solely to kill them - I strongly suspected from their killboards that they would not have anything worth looting. That is griefing under your definition.

Should these innocent PvE enjoyers have their losses refunded by CCP? Should I be worried about the griefing police knocking on my door?

The point Altara makes is very well taken - a gank is a gank is a gank, no matter the space you are in. If you are setting up for a gank, you aim to give the recipients no chance to escape. You use the mechanics of wherever you are to secure the kill, at minimum risk to yourself, and maximum risk to the targets. While there is profit to be had, I’d wager the main reason people do this kind of thing is the thrill of the chase. There’s a guy in my corp who lives for hunting targets. I myself have zero compunction against killing literally anything I can drop on, at any time - though I don’t mess with highsec ganking too much due to the hassle of it all. Not that I’m immune to it’s pleasures - you need only check my killboard for proof of that.

Yes, there is more honour in this when you’re doing it in more dangerous space. But, barring the guys who play that way for a living, I’d wager the overwhelming majority of people engaging in highsec gank play have mains elsewhere in the game, and only dabble in the ganking for the sheer luxurious pleasure of playing the bad guy.

You’ve elevated yourself to such grandiose God-like status now that you even know what everyone’s intentions are ?

I don’t like belt rats…lets remove them.

I don’t like having to target asteroids…the system should automatically do that when I am near.

I don’t like having to waste time warping to a station. I should be able to auto mine in stations.

In fact I don’t like having to log in to mine. I should be able to auto-mine when logged off.

It’s great to have a hero like you who will champion all these changes.

He’ll only champion changes to things he doesnt like.

Which by coincidence is anything someone else happens to like.

My goal was to blow up their spaceships, in a game largely focussed on blowing up spaceships. I had no malice in mind for the player, other than I wanted to blow up their stuff because I enjoy blowing up stuff. In your eyes, is that griefing?

So if I was in highsec instead of j-space, would that be different?

I don’t know, I feel like I have really productive conversations. Everything tends to flow smoothly, the difference between us is between each post there’s just a:

But otherwise things carry on.

Apparently, playing the actual game the way it has been played for 20 years is now ā€˜griefing’.

Exactly. Which was your goal with Altara

What I don’t get is why ā€œgriefingā€ seems to be limited to only high-sec space. You can be griefed anywhere. Non-consensual PvP is non-consensual PvP; it doesn’t matter what kind of space it takes place in.

Ok, and here’s where you go from reasoned argument to pure supposition. This is based upon nothing that can be substantiated.

Nope, you missed my post above clearly. When I gank someone, wherever they are in space, I know they are defeseless, and that they will die uselessly to my attack. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be doing it right - the execution (pun intended) is all part of the fun.

Do you include wingspan and the WHPD in that? Are people not allowed to roleplay in Eve, if they roleplay as criminal extortionists?

You do realise that the people that send in-game messages full of hate, real life threats (however ludicrous), homophobic and racist slander, and so on, are the people getting ganked?

You can claim that those are responses to taunts when you read them on, for example, james315.com or whatever, but anyone who has killed a krab can tell you that this guff gets spouted consistently, from all areas of space, by the kind of sore losers that complain to CCP about people blowing up spaceships in the game famous for being about blowing up spaceships.

I don’t personally care to save such trivia, but I know if I ask in corp I’ll have a dozen from the past few weeks alone that should really be enough to earn each of the senders a permaban.

…highlight the hypocrisy, double standards and general bad-faith positions your argument relies upon to function.

That goes against the narrative. We’ll just sweep that up and hide that under the rug.

But it’s not their fault! As we all know, people are incapable of managing their own emotions and need a third party to step in and make sure that they will never have to be burdened with anything that might make them illicit an emotional response.

I mean common. They have absolutely no control over writing nasty, homophobic, destructive, RL threats to cause harm to others.

I directly stated above that this isn’t the case. I go out of my way not to wind people up beyond killing them in their ships. But this is literally the only provocation some people need. The people that rage out most often, most reliably, are PvE focussed people, and these exist in all areas of space. These are the people that complain about this kind of stuff - the kind of person that only wants to farm and make the number go up, and if they are interrupted (no matter where), they will rage and complain and verbally abuse you.

I can name at least 3 nullsec residents that have done so on Reddit, repeatedly, in my direction - trolling through comment histories and so on - purely because I live in a wormhole.

It’s not rational, and it’s pretty gross. But it is what I have seen to be true.

You want to experience the reality of what I’m talking about? Go grab a catalyst, find a suitably aged character in a venture or covetor and blow them up. I’d call it 50/50 that they will abuse you, and 3:1 that they will use some form of -phobic language to do so.

If you so desire, we can each put a billion isk with a trusted party. If you gank two people without getting any abuse, you can claim the pot, but I must be on grid - and choose the targets.

I find it very telling that Lucas presents himself as a totally transparent debater, with air-tight talking points, but when stuff like this is brought up (stuff that blows a huge hole in his position) he avoids it.

Lulz. The difference is simple, the Ventures in LS dismissed a dialogue warning them about the dangers of jumping into the system. Is there a warning when you undock in HS? I’ll wait…

I find this FUNNY coming from the same people SO AFRIAD OF LOSING THIER SHIPS TO A TARGET THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO KILL THEM.

be honest with everyone here at least… you don’t want to lose your ship ever also unless it’s a planned suicide gank…you just want targets that can’t win and flee the moment someone comes that is bigger then you with your EPEEN tucked up.

(only time I see people actually go for fair fights to see who is better/OBJECTIVE is FACTION WARFARE and most say GG/GF… but those are usually in FRIGS/DESSY only ships AKA small losses)
