Some Suggestions for Future Events of this Type

Instead of “Complete X amount of Security Missions” as a goal for these events, how about “Earn X amount of LP for Level 1 Missions”. I choose L1 because that’s what people will logically do anyway as they are quicker and you don’t need a complex multi-tier system for different mission levels. Resource gathering and logistics (the rl meaning) are also a part of warfare. I bring this up because all missions are not equal, but if you did your job right as a developer the LP should reflect the difficulty/time requirement in most cases and this allows other types of missions (mining and courier) to also count even though they have smaller LP rewards in general.

Or, you know, just allow X amount of any mission type. Thoughts?

I don’t mine much so I’m not too familiar with barges, but I assume the event quotas can be done in a timely manner with them. Is the m3 requirements supposed to be geared towards high end miners only? 8 full venture loads or 5 full pioneer loads seems a tad much for a “new player friendly” event. Just in terms of time spent vs. the time it takes to blitz L1 missions. For a venture with Mining and Mining Frigate at level 4 that’s around 17 minutes times 8.

In the first tier alone that’s 2 hours and 16 minutes for the same reward as five L1 missions? Without omega a pioneer is about the same as a venture (2hr 14m) b/c it only has 50% baseline yield increase compared to venture’s 100% and level 2 max mining destroyer skill. And it only gets worse as you go assuming this event is like the previous. If being impractical for low skill miners (or all miners?) is the intent, so be it. But if it’s not, it could use some adjustment. Thoughts?

And what is the obsession with picking 1 or 2 specific types of ore? Why not all the ores? The Empires too good to get their titanium from veldspar? Or their mexallon from pyroxeres, kernite, gneiss, etc. Isn’t plagioclase missing in Amarr space? Middle finger to Amarr I guess?

This just goes to show that mining is not the whey.

Capsuleer Day event use to hand out a free battleship for just logging into your thousands of accounts.

Now you need to do stuffs to get a battleship.

How rudeness shrines of the lazy.

I think CCP has gone way overboard out in left field with this current event… For starters the amount required to complete each part of a specific event task is vastly disproportionate compared to the previous part…

For example the requirements to fully complete the 5 part Hacking task…

Tier 1 = 4 containers.
Tier 2 = 6 containers.
Tier 3 = 9 containers.
Tier 4 = 13 containers.
Tier 5 = 20 containers.

That’s 52 successful hacks.. Since each site has 2 can’s, that’s roughly about 26 full sites to find and complete… Disregarding the RNG spawn aspect, the fact that there’s thousands of other players also looking for those sites makes it a time sink… When adding in the actual difficulty level associated with the hacking game causing hacking attempts to fail, the amount of time and sites required to find and complete the Hacking task is actually even higher…

And yes, I know the amount of Agency event points increases with each tier but that’s not the issue, the issue is the amount of sites needed to complete each part of the task compared to the amount of points gained.. Completing that entire event task gives 500 points which puts you halfway to completing the Agency event points, then you have to complete another event task to gain the other 500 points… Then there’s another 500 points added to the overall points spread for the last week of the event..

Basically this event has been turned into a constant time sink grind fest… Completing previous events wasn’t as time consuming and demanding as this one… Even the last event, Gallente Election, wasn’t as bad as this one…

Also this event is advertised as being new player friendly.. Now I used an Alpha character that’s almost maxed trained and the ratio of successful to failed hacks is about 3 to 1… Now if my 18 mill SP trained Alpha account can barely complete those sites, then this event is definitely not new player friendly…

Lastly, the current SoE line of ships in the Agency rewards use to be given out freely to all players via the Capsuleer Day Log-in rewards… Putting those ships as reward in the Agency is just a slap in the face to older players… Not only that, add in the difficulty level of the event tasks makes those ships very hard for new players to get…

Yeah, I think CCP has gone way overboard out in left field with this current event…

The amounts of ore too is measured via m3 not quantity like in the daily 2000

Oh what if they changed that?

I must be very lucky then because these exploration sites are popping up constantly. If I’m not finding 3 sites in system when I arrive, a new one pops up as I complete them. I’ve had no issue finding them at all. I made a new alpha who is alpha maxed on scanning skills and I was doing these in a reaper. I have failed a few (less than 6 total), but I have yet to fail twice. So our experiences are very different. I’m on 5/20 hacked sites with that alpha in a reaper and this is just sites I come across while doing missions. I’m not even doing the intel sites specifically. It even seems like ship bonuses don’t matter for sacnning these as it takes 4 scans in the reaper and 4 scans in a probe at max alpha (2x gravity capacitors, lvl 4 minmatar frigate and maxed alpha scanning skills). And I’m doing this within 3 jumps of Hek. I have another character in Jita area and also have had no issue finding sites. This is the most plentiful I’ve ever seen explorations sites in an event.

Our experiences have been night and day. Could be a matter of what times of the day we play.

Yeah, definitely night and day…

My Alpha char has max Exploration and Frigate skills piloting a T1 Exploration Frigate (Probe) fit with SoE Core Launcher and SoE Core Probes… That’s it, no scan probe strength rigs on it… I start probe scan range at 8 AU > 4 AU > 2 AU > 1 AU > 0.50 AU to get 100% signal strength so scanning wasn’t the problem…

The main problem was getting successful Hacking on the cans with the T1 Data Analyzer… I ended up fitting a Small Memetic Algorithm Bank I rig (Access Difficulty Bonus Modifier: 20% & Virus Coherence Bonus: 10) to increase the T1 Data Analyzer stats… Along with the T1 Exploration Frigate bonus of +5 Virus Strength, that rig actually made a big difference and helped a lot with no more failed Hacking attempts…

Now about your Alpha character with max skills, that’s like my Alpha character and unfortunately, actual new player characters don’t have the necessary skills, knowledge and ISK to even compete with our Alpha characters… That’s like comparing Oranges to Apples…

And when I say new players, I’m talking about people with no previous Eve experience and little time in the game… Even after completing Career Agent training, those players are still learning how to interact with the game…

As for the availability of sites, I agree that it depends on location, time zone and amount of other players in the general area… Now as an older player, I know how to read map stats to find better locations for more site availability, which is exactly what I did and due to that, I’ve had much better results.. That’s something I wouldn’t expect most new players would do..

Anyway, and I’m really sorry to say this, I find it very hard to believe that you have no problem finding and completing event hacking sites in a Corvette… However if you actually are doing that, then gratz and more power to you…

They are hisec green hacks. You can hack those with a brand new character with just the starter default skills in a corvette. No training necessary. Are you talking about yellow/red nodes in 0.4 and below systems?

Well, seeing that definitely impressed me so I decided to test it out with my alt and take notes about it… Gotta say the results were indeed a surprise…

Completed Event Hacking task in T1 Probe Frigate @ 08:52…

The initial issues I experienced were encountered on the first and second days of the event… The only thing I can think of that would explain the difference is that CCP re-adjusted the difficulty level…

Anyway, my alt now has 500 Agency points total and shouldn’t have any issues completing the event.., Along with all the usual event loot, I also gained 4 Hardwiring Implants from doing the Event Hacking sites…

These events… still… suck. I think they need an entire reimagining. I’d love something like a “Kobayashi Maru” scenario that would pit a player (or group of players) against ever-increasing waves of enemies.
