that was not my argument , do not quote me out of context please
Iām wasnāt trying to quote you out of context (I just didnāt want to post your entire reply) - Iām merely stating that the use of Citadels vs. NPC stations is still questioned. But Iāll revise to clarify that this is solely my comment.
I can absolutely understand CCPs line of thinking and of course nullsec and most of CSM (which de facto represents nullsec one way or the other) argues for it. They would be stupid not to, its a magic safeguard for all their stockpiled assets that ensures nobody can ever take away their capfleets, supers and whatnot. At worst they get teleported to LS for a fee and thats it. Itās the wet dream of every big nullsec alliance.
But we all have seen the consequences. People have largely stopped fighting, they grind and grind and grind ungodly riches and beyond small skirmishes and brawls here and there where some crumbs are thrown into the meatgrinder, nothing big happens any more. No wars that cripple big alliances to the point they split up (and open up new opportunities for newcomers and rivals). No huge deployment campaigns and sieges of whole regionsā¦ because, for what? You only risk ships and grind down mostly empty citadels. Often even without any defender showing up. Because why should he? Itās boring, non-rewarding and you canāt take away your opponents war capabilites anyway.
The whole citadel design (unlimited storage, unlimited production, asset safety, no auto defenses, etc. etc. etc.) is *hurtful as ****. If it doesnāt change sooner or later, it will only get worse.
I think this one point sums it up nicely. And since when were corporations supposed to amiss trillions of ISK of net worth anyway?
Just revamp the original POS system. Get rid of the fancy citadels and their fancy interiors. Youāre never going to be able to walk around in them anyway. Thatās just a pipe dream. Letās go back to POS deathstars that take entire fleets hours to days to take down. High standings requirements to place them in empire space, and anchored at moons only. That system worked just fine.
