SP selling: Good monetization or bad?

I’m in the P2W camp, but I disagree it’s always been that way. Devs sold out to this mindset fully a few years back and it’s just become absurd at this point. Of all the changes this game has seen, selling SP might be at the top of the list.

There is a potentially excellent way. Skills points awarded for kills. The entire skills thing should be far more based on what people actually do…rather than some generic daily award for everyone. Skills should be based on actual activity rather than just time.

You can buy skillpoints in Jita.

No idea what the ‘problem’ is.

And you think CCP can pull this off?

I could name 50 MMOs that use that mechanic. I can name one that does it the EVE way.

Think this through before suggesting EVE throws away the one thing that sets it apart from all the other WOW-likes out there.

If this is your answer… Then so be it.

It’s not ‘my’ answer.

That’s the official answer from CCP.

Thats your angle.

Ok, well, I’m playing EvE.

I wouldn’t call safety a “major alliance”. Assets much?

And, I’m not sure I’d call 4 years, “new”. Just sayin’…

@Aiko_Danuja stole all the corp assets of the original CODE alliance and stabbed them in the back. There is alot of isk flowing behind the scenes in that community.

What’s wrong with suggesting that skill points actually represent…er….skills. Isn’t it a bit crazy that someone who has done nothing but spun ships in dock for 10 years can have the same ‘skills’ as someone who’s been out and explored the whole of Eve and actually done stuff.

You haven’t answer. You are mocking me for my ignorance of WoW, but my argument isn’t any less valid and you haven’t answer to that.

Is it not P2W then just because Blizzard is already doing it?

You are not winning anything. EVE knowledge and experience comes from gameplay in the game and interaction with others.

You could have literally rolled a characer in 2003 and babysat the skillpoint selection until they put in the queues and then just ran the queues for years and have a 300+mil SP toon that cant do jack crap because you have never played the game or learned it’s interactions etc. No different than the average Russian oligarch who buys said SP from injectors via plex/cash and promptly gets ganked by @Aiko_Danuja and friends.

There is no winning. There is playing. So rather than sit in station for 2 years people now inject and are able to go on fleets with corpmates, run their PVE fleets, PVP in fac war or null or whatever the heck they want to do.

P2W would be some special ship or modules that are only available in the cash shop and are 10X as powerful as anything else in the game. EVE SP injectors dont give an advantage nor does WOW level boosts. Sheesh it is not difficult logic.

I would prefer CCP Games to focus on cosmetics more than SP but they decided instead to spend money to produce a plethora of new cosmetics they decided it would be better to spend a lot of time and money on some new Heraldry cosmetics system. Here we are 6-ish months after Fanfest and still no new content. Great update.
