Yes, that’s the point.
No need, those are fine.

See thats what I though. So can you explain to me @Syzygium why you keep repeating to me to turn it off? Did you even look at my screenshots or you are just posting on autopilot mode, whoever complains give him the same ■■■■ advice how to workaround game bad design?
Damn all this to fix a problem that only EVE has. I do play other games, I am worried that by doing all this I screw up graphic in those.
Also this is a workaround. My setting is completely fine, I don’t have this problem in any other game I play. And if we are using workarounds to fix game’s bad design then I prefer CTRL+SHIFT+F9.
Seriously after all the recent graphic “improvements” and enhancements, I am turning graphic off completely more and more often.
He’s just arguing for argument’s sake, he has no understanding on any of this. When I stated my monitor is colour graded his… reply effectively was “lol no u", like a tool. There are a whole bunch of tools on this forum, some pretend to be one just to troll and to a degree I can respect that. Most others are just that: tools.
Unless you have some weirdo setup it’s not a monitor or settings thing, because then it would also show elsewhere and in other games. What he stated is all nonsense. This is just CCP being CCP.
It isn’t. It is the way to properly set up a PC system to have excellent graphical display.
If a problem doesn’t occur for 95+% of all people, but for you it does and you insist to ignore any and all advice from guys who have solved similar problems for others before, it is very obvious that we have a complete you-problem here. ![]()
Enjoy EVE without graphics then.
I don’t know why people are arguing that this is not game settings, when one person (me) sees this playable UI:
While another person gets bright images like these:
All three pictures are looking in the same direction in the same skybox of The Forge region.
It’s the same skybox yet the pictures look vastly different, so the main difference in brightness is our game settings.
Clearly Vokan’s picture below has far more contrast than mine, with less shades in the middle of the range but more at the extreme making the darker colours near black and the lighter colours indistinguishable white.
I haven’t touched my settings in ages, but if I see your images and your complaints I can imagine it could help you to change yours.
And in addition to your game settings, also make sure your monitor settings and other light around your monitor are fine so you don’t suffer from bright monitor lights.
No it isn’t, and I totally agree with Aisha. Try visiting Uemisaisen via Isanamo, and head for the Wiyrkormi Peace Corps station. This level of brightness is absurd….
because we have 2634354 different monitor, GPU and drivers manufacturers on the market and each of those acting slightly differently when interpreting and finally displaying the rendered picture.
That is why you look for expert settings for your monitor model, there are nerds out there testing gaming monitors with special hardware to find out color and brightness gradients, possible bad factory settings and give advice how to set them up for the best possible picture this monitor can give. Not too bright, not too dark, not too sharp, but not smudgy either.
THEN you have to calibrate your SYSTEM to work perfectly with that monitor, setting limits for Dark and Bright areas, getting good grey values without color tint and so on. Some visial “enhancing” features of GPUs also completely mess up contrast and brightness again, not really making the picture “better”. So you test around to find out what actualy looks good to you (usually it’s best to just disable them alltogether and at most balance out color-temperature so it is convienent for your eyes).
Having some backlight in your room is an absolute no-brainer, still a lot of people ignore that part.
And THEN in the last step you use the settings of the application to do some last niche adjustments that this special software might need.
Considering all the people telling you how to f*cking fix it, the problem here is clearly between your keyboard and chair. Someone else needs to fix all your problems for you, apparently.
Enough of this cryfest, thread muted.
What you are looking at is not a regular Caldari skybox though that Aisha is talking about.
Your picture is the silly frozen sky with snowflakes white upon white in an already bright HS nebula.
I wish they’d fix those metaliminal storm cloud effects already for other reasons (a horizon in 3D space? seriously?), but reducing the brightness of this frozen cloud effect is another thing I wouldn’t mind to see.
I agree. Everything else on my PC displays just fine with one lot of settings, and that includes other MMOs, my art website, Netflix, Amazon Prime…yada yada. It is ONLY in EVE that the problem of over-brightness appears. I’m not going to adjust my entire PC settings for one game.
Nonsense. The exact same happens in Sobaseki…just 2 systems away from Uemisaisen. There are many such examples.
You’re, very conveniently, forgetting one variable: the game itself and how THAT interacts with drivers and videocards.
That’s just a hipster nerdgasm, completely unnecessary for any normal use and yes, EVE is (or should be) normal.
Caldari space being much brighter than the others is a simple fact, and on top of that (for some people) EVE doesn’t seem to play well with their videocard and/or drivers. Two different things and both can be true and both are CCP’s doing.
…
I’m not surprised the same happens there. That system also has the same ice white metaliminal storm effect.
Some more images of the brightest part of Caldari space:
That’s quite laughable given that you’ve deliberately pointed at an area in Jita with no bright stars or nebulae. Try pointing the other way. If, like me, you regularly sit right behind the Jita station….there is a bright star over towards Perimiter gate that is particularly annoying….and I have to include the 4-4 station in my view without having the star. The issue is not just nebulae….very often it is the absurdly bright stars that are the issue.
What?
It’s the brightest spot in the The Forge region that I’m looking at in those pictures.
Please turn around in that part of space and show me a brighter spot.
The only way I can make it brighter is if I zoom in on one particular part:
Who would have thought that stars in a space game are bright?! The absurdity!
In your example I responded to above, you were NOT comparing one user in Jita with another in Jita, you were comparing three entirely different systems….Jita, New Caldari, and Korsiki.
Why are you so determined to ignore and brush over what multiple people have presented with actual images ??
The stars in EVE are brighter at 25AU than they are when you are right frikin next to them ! What was that about absurdity ?
Korsiki, New Caldari and Jita are all in the same region of The Forge.
They share the exact same skybox.
The game helps you by making the stars slightly less overbearingly bright when right next to them, because people could complain about the brightness of being right next to a star.
While people learn from young age that looking into the sun is not a good idea because it is ‘bright’, it wouldn’t be beneficial for players to realistically increase this brightness even further when in a spaceship right next to that sun. People aren’t used to fly close to the sun, so it can be tuned down for gameplay reason without losing the realism people expect from suns. So they toned that part down a little. It’s still bright, but not ‘you are on fire’ bright.
For people elsewhere in the solar system besides ‘on grid with the sun’ the local star is logically the brightest object in the solar system, just like anyone would expect from the local star.
Stars are bright, intentionally so.
But I thought this topic was about skyboxes, not stars?
