Space Opera?

Yeah and that is the problem pvp or pve wont save the game if it´s stagnent sure we can get more pvp going but when people are sick of the game theyy are sick of the game and nothing will make them go ooh I want back in.

What they could try it get new people in but does new people may not be like you or me that likes the pillage and rape part of EVE. They may be people to want run around craft and mine or only do missions.

But what I see is everyone thinks more pvp is the solution to a dying game. I love the pvp in eve but it wont save jack ■■■■.

If Eve 2.0 is on the cards make it so you can only have 1 acc and let people transfer their mains, not assets over to the new server. Botting will die instantly and it will stop a lot of griefing plus cancelling out massive advantages given to people utilising 20-30 alts accounts at one time. Radical rethink is needed and not just cancelling local in null for a month or so that is just ridiculous. the csm where brisc was voted in some rich dude in goons used in game isk to plex 88 accounts just to vote. Thats whats breaking eve where the average player has one acc, you cannot fight against that.

The average null alliance likes members to have at least three active acc’s cyno alt fax alt and super pilot. They don’t usually pay for those acc’s they just whine at csm who whine at ccp who make it easier for them to crab billions use that to plex and price all those in high-sec completely out of the market.

The system is corrupt its biased and the new generation of gamers won’t tolerate it, so the game will eventually fail. Im a father of three lads late teens. gamers all of em, they wont touch eve with a bargepole.

70% of the playerbase doesn’t leave highsec.

The state of highsec is the state of the game… and it is the only thing new players see.

Highsec decides the fate of Eve. Period.

Look, ganking wasn’t common when dramatic crime was a thing.

It was a lot more fun to steal ore and try to get a Corp to attack, or pretend to be a miner and then attack some thief.

Back then, it was loaded with interaction and both sides were involved in an entire chain of decisions before the first shot was fired.

It was that storyline progression, the dramatic human and visceral interaction that made the story.

PvP was just a fitting climax… I’m not trying to tell anyone how to play the game. I’m saying that the basic crime mechanics (combined with the rewards for risky jetcan mining) gave us a reason to play it together.

Today’s noob can play for hours in Akiainavas without seeing anyone talk in local. There are plenty of people there… they just aren’t talking.

They need a reason to talk.

Since when was EVE Online a “space opera”? Who at CCP ever said that?

I don’t get to hisec much but when I do it’s pretty boring. It’s ok for shopping and some of the chat in hubs can be amusing, but there’s no life except on the Niarja gate and other ganky choke points.

I have to say I agree with the OP. When I started playing years ago there was little in the way of ganking but lots of other shenanigans popping up all over the place.

Ironic really that those who’ve cried for safety hoping to extend the life of the game (but are primarily interested in increasing their isk pile) are probably the ones who have contributed the stagnant situation we are in most.

Who at CCP needs to say that? The whole set up is pure space opera.

Don’t on a regular basis, or never have? I do wonder how many have never left hi sec, and if it is 70%… OMG, they need to get out more.

Anything was better when you were younger.

Yeah, but that’s a problem as well. The new players who want to do all that without being bothered. Every MMO I’ve played has fizzled out over time, with the good players being slowly replaced with non-social loot-hoarding farmer-types, along with a variety of bots trying to assist and/or scam them.

The blackout gave us a huge incentive and the CCP took it away!

I don’t want to fly out to null sec, just for everyone to either hide or respond with a large fleet I can’t fight! That’s not fun.
They have the assets to defend themselves but out of sheer laziness/habit, are unwilling to change anything that takes them out of their comfort zone.

Temporary blackouts or region-specific blackouts would be an acceptable compromise, but I’m sure they’ll whine about even this!

Again, says who? What indication or evidence is there that EVE is a “space opera”?

Well, how else would you describe EVE Online as a genre?

A simulator.

The “space opera” part of the game is the pvp content. If you restrict yourself in such a way that you never see the pvp content that’s your choice, just don’t complain that you don’t see the best part of the game (the pvp) then!

It most certainly is not. It may be the starting zone for a lot of players, but outside of that it’s the irrelevant part of the game. It’s like saying the state of WoW (insert MMO of choice) is determined by the amount of boars (insert lvl 1 mob of choice) killed in Elwhyn forest.

A lot of new players head into low/null/wh fairly quickly (explorers for example), I think my first trips were when I was a few days old and I became a semi-permanent low sec resident a few weeks later.

I certainly hope not, else this great game would quickly go down the drain.

Chivalric romance happens for sure.

Well sadly that´s how it is not all mmo´s live for ever I mean I love Pirates of the burning sea ■■■■■■■ great Ship game if you want to be a pirate or such and do sea pvp. Sadly that mmo still alive is well empty at most maybe 100-200 hardcore fans still keeps playing but reason it´s still alive is becuse one of the old devs on the game is hosting it him self. If EVE had 100-200 hardcore fans that enjoys the game I don´t think any one would want to waste the money to keep it runing well maybe some one rich would but yeah. It´s the faith of all mmo.

First they start to lose player and they try to change to game to get new players but they get bored. I mean why do you think EVE went f2p I mean I seen toons of mmo when it starts to get bad they try to f2p Tera did it SWTOR did it.

In all honest what we need is innovation or something rely big new like planet landing maybe. Or as I always said combine eve online with freelancer or X3 combat where you have to aim your self and yes it works with big ships any one that played freelancer or X3 know how big ships work with aming your self. Reason I wish to see that is to make eve combat feel more interactive.

When did it stop being a Prison Simulator?

The sad thing is, you don’t even have to be rich to plex that many accounts. We have an aging player-base, so things like that are within reach for many players with even somewhat decent real life jobs.

Of course it is, that is why the developers need to get their asses on the hamster wheel and start producing content. I believe players are entitled to monthly content patches yes?

They will regret the day they killed player content.

Actually the drama around Trigs and FOB rats killing miners and other ships in hisec is pretty epic and they do a better job at removing afk miners.
