I’ve been hearing the “whale songs” for a while now, maybe a few months. They seem to be associated with Caldari stations. Seems each faction has their own unique ambiance around their stations now.
Yeah, confirming the whale songs for several months. As Mykal says there’s different types of ambience. Not sure if it strictly faction or perhaps regional or something, but it varies.
Wait… how is their sound in a vacuum?
So it is true that Princess Aikoenormous is a Space Whale!!!
Ill repeat what I say in every thread about sound in eve…
Eve has sound? I turned it off in 2004ish and never turned it back on.
Speaking of sounds in EVE…there is one sound where I’ve never quite figured what it is actually for.
I refer to the sort of slightly mobile phone ringtone sound you sometimes get on going through stargates. It doesn’t always happen…maybe one stargate in 40 or something. The nearest I can assess is its possibly a sound signifying capacitor is full, but I’ve never seen anything anywhere stating just exactly what this sound means.
We already have them.
We’ve had space whales for decades now. They dock or undock at Jita 4-4 every five seconds, all day long…
Space whaling in Eve could actually be an interesting new activity if they implement it just right.
I’m imagining something that would require a moderate to large fleet. First you have to tackle the whale with multiple warp disruptors. Then you have to kill it with some specialized space harpoon. But all the while the whale is emitting damaging radiation and thrashing around. After it’s dead you have to bring in specialized mining ships to carve it up.
It could be fun. If they did it right.
Electromagnetic emissions can be turned into sound. Ever listened to the Symphony of the Planets? It’s quite intriguing how our planets sound like.
