Nope. I don’t see how anyone can be both AFK and claim to be ‘playing’ a game. Other than the odd very short bio break…I have never been AFK in Eve. If people are AFK mining…then thank goodness there are gankers to deal with them. Play Eve or watch Netflix. Not both.
I suspect because ‘tritium’ is not necessarily the exact same thing as ‘highsec mining’, given that there are other ores that can be mined. So you cannot directly equate the two. It’s entirely possible that other ores represent the bulk of highsec mining increase.
When ganker says someone is AFK they really mean “they are looking away from their screen for a shot amount of time”. Most mechanics in EVE support that. EVE requires nowhere near enough input to prevent them being able to watch TV at the same time.
With a quick overview change you can watch TV, mine, and watch dscan easily. Unless you aren’t actually interactive with eve for significant period of time. You’d die in most PVE activities for not paying attention for more than 30 seconds
I mainly do PvP, so I do faction warfare for example and just put my overview and local on the right of my left monitor and watch Netflix on the right monitor, then most of the time I get 15-20 minutes before I have to press another button. I can see movement in the overview or local in my peripherals.
Yea so you’re watching your eve screen, that’s not AFK.

So then a miner watching netflix is also not AFK. It’s no different except that I get 15-20 minutes between actions when most miners get a couple of minutes between them. There’s no activity in the game that can be undertaken without looking at the screen at all.

No, they mean person is watching Netflix or otherwise not generally paying attention. I spend a good deal of time in the ganker channel…I know exactly what they mean by ‘AFK’. They’re not looking for someone who by pure chance just ‘happens’ to be on a bio break or making a cup of tea.
I’ve no idea what you mean by the mechanics ‘supporting’ AFK. No, they don’t. Eve is a game that you play AT the screen. Nothing ‘supports’ you not being there. There is no ’ Ooops…Natalie is not at the screen, lets put everything on hold ’ mechanic.

Don’t be silly. If someone is watching Netflix at all on any screen whatever then they are not paying full attention to Eve and are to all extents and purposes AFK. Anything less than full attention to the game is AFK. You can’t be watching the Netflix screen and be watching the Eve screen…which is it ?
And is that a good thing? I wouldn’t eat as I prefer beef!
