It won’t LOL.
Honestly, I don’t get why peeps go to such elaborate lengths for a vidya game.
It’s wild.

I’m still trying to figure out what the last 100 posts have to do with teaching BlackFlag a lesson?
Has there been any takers?
I’m curious to know.
Ahem “her”
I’ve split this topic off the original Looking for mercs to teach BLACKFLAG a lesson - #301 as the majority of the thread had gotten off topic from the original post.
RP’ing is just strange to me.
That’ll teach BLACKFLAG a lesson.
There are. Other Omega players.
Apart from that it is good that there is nothing else because we would need a wholly different game if there were mechanics that would stop all your operations just because you are not in the client. In its current form, EVE would definitely not be an enjoyable game if you could not be away from your client and keep things running.
As for the main topic: Ganking has been a blob-fest of 1 (if you are generous, 2) group for years. Who else other than Code and its myriad of subsidiaries ganks continuously and regularly? It has been like that for many, many years and none of the recent high sec combat changes improve or worsen that situation.
Horde and FRT do it every now and then but they are null sec groups, they should do stuff in null sec and not come to high sec for easy, cheap content when they fail to create their own content in null sec.
When we look at it, player Corps decide to gank player structures with the help of BlackFlag so in a way we or you are the Mercs that would be needed to solve your / our own problems and really there is no real lesson to be learn’t other than stop trying to gank other player structures.
I think you missed the boat on the original topic:
It’s fairly clear this was a paid for/mercenary attack. Clearly someone didn’t want that structure in the system, so they paid to have it removed.
The owner of the structure has almost no idea about eve mechanics or politics and seemed confused why people would take offence to their isk-generating-structure being threatened by another corps one.
What I mean by mechanics supporting AFK is that most mechanics in EVE are “click button → wait a variable amount of time”. In faction warfare for example it takes 10-20 minutes for a plex to capture, and if noone comes in for a fight in that time all you’re doing is orbiting a beacon.
Entosis links, structure attacks, mining, hauling, ESS access, etc, there are many mechanics in EVE that follow this pattern. If you’re counting “still being at the keyboard but watching netflix” as “AFK” then all of those mechanics encourage that type of multitasking.
Moved from other thread.
Didn’t they war dec blackflag, give blackflag a good spanking, much to the bare chested emperor’s confusion, and try to scam the bloodthirsty Vampire Princess herself?
One could sum up all that in one sentence…PvE is boring. If something contains so little input that you can sit and watch Home & Away whilst ‘playing’ it, then perhaps you can see why some don’t want highsec turned into one big boring ‘PvE Only’ region.
As I’ve shown though, it’s not just PvE. PvP mechanics tend to have even longer periods where no input is needed.
That’s not 100% accurate.
PvE can be fun, and entertaining. The problem is when people turn it into a grind. Then they loose interest in doing it, but it’s all they know, so they do it afk while being entertained by other things, like netflix.
You are spouting forth a false dilemma. Either you are paying attention to Eve or you are watching Netflix. Which is it ?
Lots to see on Netflix like Whinebaby Harry’s upcomming docuseries.
Highly recommended viewing while you getting ganked.
You know. So many people complain about being ganked.
As I’ve ganked, i’ve also been on the receiving end of a gank as well.
Story time.
I was in Nakugard, and had just done a gank. I was tootling around when the Honeybrights showed up in local.
Well, I knew fun was going to be had. I was no longer suspect/criminal and I was sitting in a safe spot in my jackdaw. I had a fleet of retrievers and covetors on d-scan (at 15 degrees) and was eagerly pinging away in anticipation of seeing a fleet of coercers jump them. Next thing I know, they were on top of me!
Kaboom. Lost my jack! but I was laughing so hard!
I was already in the why was I ganked channel, and I posted my killmail before the Honeybrights did, then asked myself if I wanted to buy a mining permit.
Good times.
Aiko gets a bunch if ■■■■, but I will say this. They make thing interesting and you can’t take the game, or yourself seriously.
There are always bigger fish in the sea
You made me laugh so hard. The Honeybrights, too funny.
False dilemma? I said that a lot of mechanics require little input with lots of waiting. As an example I spoke about faction warfare where you have nothing to do for 10-20 minutes if noone else attacks, which is a lot of the time. You then said that the problem is “PvE is boring”. The problem is across the whole game, not just PvE.
