I still haven’t watched Season 8, but I doubt my pick is wrong if I claim this is the absolute best sequence of the whole show:

Poor Cersei. She never was as smart as she thought… but oh my, what a wicked b*tch she was!

those pesky children!

I thought the last series was good, but the battle at Winterfell did bug me. they used the trebuchet about 3 times, threw the cavalry away, completely ignored the huge advantage of large stone walls etc, etc.

I wonder if the night king is just another face in a vault now?

Then Tommen gave a whole new meaning to the words Kings Landing.

“I wonder if the night king is just another face in a vault now?”
That would have been a better ending. Arya as the Night King killing Cersei.

Dunno… that would have been rather mean (I mean, knowing she was pregnant and all). Arya Stark, notorious Babykiller? Whereas for she being indirect victim to Daenerys after her meltdown… well, kind of fits better.

I’ll be honest, I read the first book when it first came out waiting on a wheel of time installment.
It was the dryest most painful eyesore and took me so long to get through. I suppose it did better as a TV show. All I remember is it was a good book to go to sleep to. Never got to the second.
I did see a preview for a Wheel of Time Series and was intrigued as I read the series over 20yrs waiting for the books.

I mentioned above that I tried to read the first book years ago. The guy’s writing really annoyed me. The first chapter had so many references to things that the writer know about but the reader didn’t know about (The Wall, Valyrian Steel, The Night’s Watch, White Walkers, “Winter is coming,” etc.) that it was kind of infuriating. “Like, hey man, you’re supposed to try to entertain the reader and introduce him to your fictional world. Not be all smug and make the reader work hard to be elite enough to figure out your fictional world.”

So I didn’t bother watching the TV show, because I thought it would be a bunch of complicated plots and subplots that would make the viewer work hard to follow them, and probably play cheap tricks on everybody. “You thought we were going here, but Ta-da! Surprise, we went here.” I only started watching in 2018, and then only because my intelligent friend with good taste in books, film, and TV said he kind of liked it. Then I binge-watched it from Season 1 to the end.

Confession: I’m re-watching the whole thing, because: a) at the end I saw that there were some didn’t pick up on the first time, and I’m anal retentive like that; and b) I haven’t found anything else as interesting to watch as yet.
While re-watching, I can see how many great ideas Martin had. Maybe better presented by the TV show than in the books. So yeah, I’d agree. For once, the movie/TV show may be better than the books.

Really also I find TV passe now, never watch anymore. Very few movies worth seeing etc. Just rehashed ideas and BS.

The plot armor in Season 8 was stronger than Valyrian steel.
