I just been blown in a stargate in low sec and I dont quite understand it.
Stargate jumps should instant as you land within 2500 m of them and get activated from 2500 m.
I got blown by a smart bomb. Is there actually any delay between coming out of wrap and jumping??

You are fully damageable during warp, even a bomb will hit you. Make 200-300km book mark’s on gate and don’t warp to gates directly.
Nothing is wrong with gate jump, you got killed while still in warp landing at the gate. This only works because the smart bomber knows where you land (coming from another gate). Make a ping bookmark above/behind the outgoing gate in warp distance (above 150km), and warp from there to the gate to jump. Plus fit enough tank to survive one smart bomb volley.
If you don’t have this ping yet, you can check for celestials nearby fulfilling your needs (coming to the gate in a different angle).
