I don’t seem to grasp what to do on this mission. I collected 12 ‘Proof of Discovery’ items but the agent is still telling me I haven’t completed the task yet. What should I be doing?
Did you take them off the ship and put them in your item hangar?
Items cannot be in ship cargo hold. They need to be moved to item hangar in station
Okay, I think I figured it out, needed to find a data one, silly me.

Don’t feel bad about it. A few years ago when I arrived here, the career missions didn’t offer tracking at all. Many of them are clear as mud. I always recommend you ask your Q&A in Help chat, but not Rookie chat. The rookie chat is always too full. Click the plus icon and use ( your language ) Help. English Help has about 250 people on average in there where Rookie always about 1000 or more.
There are some major tips and tricks for those career missions on the wiki or you can find a lot of Youtube guides on them as well. While these are meant to get your feet wet, you can do these missions 12 times over per character.
