EVE corporations do have shares and a mechanism for paying out dividends.
On the Market Discussion subforum, people have occassionally been launching IPOs selling their shares for more than 10 years.
My own corporation - EVE Museum - has had shares with outside shareholders since 2005. However, shareholders in EVE tend to be very loyal, and there is not much of a market going for buying and selling the shares, once they are out.
