Stupid ad, who made this?

I’ve recently seen 2 new (at least to me) EVE ads on YouTube, about 25 seconds each.

They were literally just half a minute of artsy, abstract gobbledygook about “what it means to be a pilot” set to the backdrop of a cinematic angle of few different ships flying through space with no particular purpose, sometimes in formation.

There was no semblance of any actual gameplay being shown, or even described. Not a cannon shot going off, not a mining laser beam hitting a rock, not a shot of the market screen depicting commodity trading, nothing.

It was just like…

“The capsuleer is but a cherry blossom in the Ides of March, so vulnerable in the biting wind, yet about to bloom into the breathtaking opus of the expression of will…”

~5-second shot of a Vexor flying aimlessly through space~

“What drive, what desire, where does this path lead? The stars have lit the way, but now it is time to take up the torch.”

~two Kestrels in formation orbiting what seems to be a station~

“You see the truth with your inner eye. Fly safe, commander.”

…And I’m like…who the ■■■■ are they trying to attract with this ■■■■? Second-year media majors? Bro, this game is 99% either using it as a screensaver, or ganking those who do. Most of the people trying your game are watching this on their iPhones in bed in between their Hero Wars sessions; they don’t understand what any of these fancy words mean.

I never said they don’t happen, it is unlikely anyone will witness such a fight without prior knowledge.

Now you are changing your story. You implied from ‘I have never seen one’ that such things don’t happen.

More to the point, the observer won’t be immune to the battle damage as they attempt to view it from those impossible camera angles.

You clearly have no idea how such battles actually work. Especially if there’s a wardec involved…nobody’s going to shoot some observer just for the fun of it. It has all kinds of repercussions for logi giving assistance…the very thing the video is about.

Apparently you have an issue with facts.

Why would I be the one having problems with facts when I’m the one who has actually done stuff like battles and logi…and you waded in with ’ I have no idea what a Logi is’. You accuse the advert of ‘lack of truth’ when you have now demonstrated several times that you have zero idea what the truth actually is.

You have never seen a battle or been in one. You have no idea whatever as to what logi is. Your qualifications for knowing the facts are a self confessed zero.

She was talking about logi’s though. And its a common complex for gaming healers. It works…in other games healers tend to be the last person I want to get on the wrong side of lol.

Or, if they took this crap too far, yeah…my hunters could “accidentally” pull aggro and dump it on healer.

Kicked or leave from a crap run was the same debuff timer. Sometimes one must take the more fun option lol.

Yeah the wolf in 3+ on 1 miner hit (assumed 0.0 or low) is getting kited most likely. 2009 stats wolf fit arty like utter butt that I recall. AC was favored if only to get a decent fit on it. And yeah, that wolf is a neut. If 0.0 that miner’s friends would have been hunting them as they wandered their space.

and the instant corp sign up in 0.0…hahahahaha yeah, no. This ad was back in 2009/2010. SP requirements were more common then. Cool they have the wolf. But…could they fly the fleet BC at least too? Then the api check, interview, etc.

Butterfly Effect, awesome trailer. No it’s not “realistic” and no one cares or cared, only the perpetually offended ones care about that because they’re offended about everything EVE but for whatever reason still hang around.

This is true. great to watch. And I have spot in my heart for the wolf (rifter based model in generall) really.

all games do this though. Blizzard doesn’t cover half the crap you actually see in the game. PLay with many people! In fine print at the bottom…if your parses or raiderio score are worthy lol.

E3 and such are mecca’s for trailers that are awesome. Actual game though on release is another story.

At this point when I see E3 like game coverage I go well if the game looks half as good when released, well then its looking pretty damned good for this game lol.

I bet there are enough twitch and youtube people here that could make a realistic, honest trailer, that would actually hold appeal and sell the idea to people. However I am in no way telling anyone to work for the company for free. I think, if CCP held a contest with prizes they would have a much better commercial. I doubt they will run such a contest, then they would pick the wrong video as the winner too.
