Stupid ad, who made this?

maybe CCP should add fitting implants for both eyes.

Not really, if you get multiple requests for reps you need to pick which one you’re going to save, you can’t rep everyone

Absolutely, I used to look at specials and sometimes I would lock up small tackle with one of my logi knowing that they were skirmishing with other tackle and throw them the odd rep when I could. I saved quite few doing that and we killed more because they were alive at the end of the fight and managed to get tackles on the enemy as they were fleeing. It is fun.

And yet…the advert is 100% true when it points out there are things you can do other than mining. And nobody can say they were unaware of ganking in Eve, as the advert specifically advertises it. To me the advert is not aimed at people who have never heard of Eve. It is aimed at noob miners who’ve got stuck in the mining rut.

This is the best EvE Online ad.

I am waiting for the next one, featuring windowlicking ag.

So the guy typing in the forums is telling me “stop typing in the forums and play the game”.

Pot, meet kettle.

How multiple is multiple? most fleet battles they will concentrate on one or two, not 30 at a time. So you lock up 2, and you can clearly see whos taking the brunt of the damage from their fleet.

If you get multiple requests it means the opponent is splitting dps. As a logi you manage your locked targets and spread the reps around prioritizing the ones that are dipping faster, if you pulse reps you can keep 2 ships alive with a single rep.

And no, you dont get to say ■■■■ that guy, im not repping him because thats a sure way of wrecking your fleet, including your self.

Also a competent fc will notice if you let your fleet mates die and you will never fly with him again.

A competent FC wouldn’t allow logi in fleet.

This entire thread lost meaning. :joy: Assuming it had value to begin with.

First, I have stated before there is a serious lack of truth in ads, especially for Eve Online.

Second, I have never witnessed a massive space battle in this game. Most of the time you get gate camped or hunted down by some loser looking for an easy kill. “When I started Eve, I was a miner…” Hey! I am still a miner, I don’t get blown up ALL the time. If you are getting blown up too often, you are doing it wrong.

Now what I noticed about this video, it sounds like the lady is reading a script. I could pay someone on Fiver to do it, probably a lot better than whoever this is suppose to be. I doubt this is a real player at all.

At 1:50 we see her walking toward the camera. If you are new to Eve and/or haven’t played this game; Nobody walks in Eve Online. You make up a 3D avatar as a chat icon and that is it. there is no getting out of your ship and strutting across the flight deck.

I have no idea what a Logi is but it is probably omega ship that I cannot fly as an alpha. So let me translate what she is really saying here. “I got upset about getting blasted by gankers. So I decided to pay a sub for omega and become a ganker myself. Hey, if you can’t beat 'em join 'em.”

There is a lot of lame psychology at work here in this video. The first is to lie to the potential new player and tell them the game is visually cooler than a 2D menu driven battle simulation. I personally like a 2D menu driven battle simulation. Then the video has a female voice over to elude to the fact that women play here. Well I know of one woman for a fact who plays on Eve. She is a 60 year old grand mother, currently on dialysis, and her husband is my best friend. I am not saying we don’t have girl gamers in Eve but I give them more credit for being smart enough not to tell us guys. “PLAY FREE NOW” at the end when 90% of what we witnessed in the video will cost them a monthly omega sub. I am not against subscribers, they pay to keep those servers running. In truth, this should have a splat with a disclaimer saying; *Free players are limited on ships, tools, and item selections. Even if they rephrased the caption to read; “PLAY FREE or GET YOUR OMEGA SUBSCRIPTION TODAY”, it would be more honest.

To be honest, most game ads are only lies and bait for the naïve players.

 a lack?

I don’t understand this thread. Ads are stupid…water is wet… sky’s blue :woman_shrugging:

I say a lack as they can’t say, playing Eve Online will cure cancer. They do half-truths and mislead us showing scenes generated by the game, but not usable nor seen in standard game play. Much the same way truck companies show a Ford climb to the top of a mountain, but they omit they placed it up there with a Sikorsky Sky Crane.

BTW the sky is not blue either. The sky (atmosphere) has no color, the particulates in the atmosphere filter the sunlight during the clearest day and allow us to perceive it as blue. The night sky has no light other than the distant stars, many of which twinkle and have a blue cast to them because of the same particles in our transparent night sky. Water is not wet, the sky is transparent, and advertisement is dishonest.

True, the sky is grey/white right now with falling snow and water is only a clump of dry atoms and I’m only a figment of my own imagination.

Sky can be blue, atmosphere is not sky, but sky includes atmosphere. Sky is just a sphere above earth or other planet, and it includes also outer space. In astronomy its called celestial sphere. When you see moon on the sky, its still part of the sky.

But celestial sphere visible on other planet could be other colour when other sun casts light on it, because it will include other atmosphere.

Just for your information, there are T1 logi that you can fly as an alpha, they are quite good too. The issue would be your skills as an alpha, that is what makes it not worthwhile.

Just because you’ve never seen one doesn’t mean they don’t happen. I’ve been in lots of them. Was in one just a few days ago…300 people in all. The battle of Finanar, back in March, last year, had over 2000 people in the system at one point…as another example.

I know Tech II logi ships like Guardian and Basilisk require several level V skills as I have both of them…and setting them up is not cheap…around 350-400m ISK. There are, though, Tech 1 logi ships like Exequror which I would imagine Alphas can fly.

Logistic ships supply shield or armor repair to a fleet. The logistic ships will usually operate in a chain supplying each other with capacitor, and the fleet with shield or armor. This is why a fleet commander will usually have to decide on a shield or armor doctrine for the entire fleet…as there’s no point having shield logi if half the fleet has turned up in armor ships.

I think the fact that you have no idea what logi even is does not put you in the best of positions to critique the advert !

These ads make it look like this is a common battle, I never said they don’t happen, it is unlikely anyone will witness such a fight without prior knowledge. More to the point, the observer won’t be immune to the battle damage as they attempt to view it from those impossible camera angles. The developers at CCP have staged those battles, recorded them, then flew a special camera ship through the playback.

Apparently you have an issue with facts. Where did I critique this advert for the logi ship? Everyone else was hollering about this ship, I simply stated I had no knowledge of the ship. Let’s review what I did criticize about this video;

  1. Lack of truth
  2. Making the game look “action packed” with massive space battles every day.
  3. Voice over artist reading a script written by a non-existent player.
  4. Showing characters walking about interacting outside of their pods.
  5. Pressing “Free to Play” when we all know this is a subscriber game with free to play clay pigeons.

I don’t mind being a clay pigeon, but new players should know exactly where they stand.
