Slaves were hstoricaly kept for their owm benefit ( see black on black homicide statistics) For eve though, I totally agree with freeing the slaves. I also include that if you have freed a slave that you are responsible for their negative financial impact. I feel like if you are ok with their positive financial impact, then you should write that off, off and take responsibility for the negative impact only.
The issue is youd need an event that would benefit some cause to get rid of the excess amounts in hangars first before making such changes imo. Or else youd end up just with some rich people, some standings rich people, and the rest of Eve sitting in the middle. I would imagine some people might have a lot of said stuff just stashed away and that would need to be eaten up somehow to make it functional with drop rates and market price going forward.
Maybe even not traditional standings gain/hits but some sort of new standings integration, but for that to flesh out Id have to drink a lot more and think a lot harder about what would work.
They have done many events for factional interplay, so something along that lines would help get things in the right ratios for later. There is a lot of useless stuff floating about in hangars to make useful in some regard.

Even with an event people might still not care to exchange their slaves or not all of them, while also people who might be inactive at the time still have their piles in stock despite such an event.
A better solution would be if CCP made an announcement along the lines of Peace negotiations initiated by xy between the Amarr Empire and the Minmatar Republic resulted in a one time event of freeing all current slaves in captivity.
Then during downtime CCP could run a script that cancels and refunds all outstanding and unclaimed contracts containing slaves then turns all slaves into freed slaves. Also remove the NPC sell offers from the market for slaves as well as remove them from loot tables or alter them as needed. And take any other measure necessary to remove slaves currently possessed by anyone.
After this they can precisely control who, how, and in exchange of what actions can gain and what amount and type of slaves and what reward they could exchange them for.
Given this idea the question is what is the end goal?
Is it purely standings increase/decrease and another way to raise/lower/change standings? Some sort of end game function in relation to the empires or even Concord, if you do more than slaves as DMC suggested?
FacPo and Concord response time dynamic changes based on standings for different characters for FW, ganking and antigank? Access to certain agents (new or old)? Some smuggling or possibly bounty hunting access (access to new stargates with different mechanics or locator agents with more precise info)?
Then the questions remain how can it be gamed or manipulated, specifically with regards to “alts”, isk, or N+1.
Thanks, that was just a quick list from memory… There’s actually a lot more items available in-game that could be used… In fact, could even split the items up to include the minor Factions so the standing gain from main Factions wouldn’t be so big…
Could even put a limit on amount of items turned in or place a cut off point in the characters standing gain… For example no more increase for turning in those items when +4.00 standing is gained…
As for introducing that aspect into the game, CCP could do an Event with SoE asking Capsuleers to help with Humanitarian Relief Efforts…
Anyway, it’s definitely something to consider and like you said, would help clean out some Capsuleers Hangars… like mine…
Yeah, I think the limiting the gains or decreases would have to be a thing. I am thinking a dynamic idea possibly with decay either way might be an interesting concept as well. Take FacPo or Concord where you could change response rates might spice things up a bit to that aspect. Say you attempt a gank on someone with high concord standing and suddenly concord shows up just a bit faster, or where you can slow down FacPo or concord and punch above your weight class in FW or ganking.
And using the bounty hunting through FW option you could possibly engage any agent of that faction, so if youre in Caldari militia itd be any caldari agent in any space for information regarding enemy FW pilots in high sec space in a certain area, perhaps larger area and more precise info ( pilot, ship flown, in space or in station, shorter time duration to attain report) but would be a random target. Think of it like a Dscan of the area around you by solar systems, constellation, region, of enemies but itd only be a single random pilot if there are a few in the area.
An event where capsuleers build or “discover” new smuggling star gates that are old, semi functional tech, with new mechanics to throw you into a system at a random point in space but perhaps gives you a suspect timer and prevents cloaking, possibly a short warp delay as well as your systems “recalibrate” creating a bit of time to hunt them with combat probes.
Just some things off the top of my head.
