[Suggestion] Restrict The Summit to Capsuleers only

That is also my view, and there are plenty of places where capsuleers and baseliners can interact. However The Summit isn’t the place for that in my opinion. Now stop trying to make up all ideas about how I hate baseliners. You are like the tabloids intentionally misinterpreting something in order to get outrage over it.

She did indeed predict that we’d be easy prey for an outraged humanity. She also took huge comfort in the appearance of the Sleepers, though: however callous and cruel we might be, however arrogant and selfish, we’re relatively safe as long as we stand between humanity and something worse.

The Drifters are the incarnation of that hope, though I think she was expecting them to behave more like the Triglavians.

To my eye, the whole calculation’s a little foolish. We’re human, and it’s a very bad idea to pretend we’re not, not least because you can bet SOMEONE out there is trying hard to persuade the world we’re not, and it’s not because they think we’re so cool; it’s because, as in your formulation, they want us first hated and then enslaved or dead.

For that same reason, considering how hard it can be to get access to The Summit in the first place, it’s probably best not to try to close it off to those outside our class. It’s not like we’re a disempowered, persecuted class in need of shelter. We’re some of the wealthiest, deadliest, most powerful people out there, and it’s not like The Summit is anybody’s private living room.

Shutting out our critics seems really a bit like validating what those same critics say about us. If listening to such people means we can’t enjoy our lives … maybe it’s our consciences getting pricked?

Although, also, maybe not. Listening to someone being noisily and stubbornly wrong isn’t exactly relaxing, either.

I concur that we are human, and that it is pure hubris to pretend otherwise.

What surprises me is hearing this from Mizhir. Minmatar capsuleers have a complicated relationship with our clans and tribes. However, I have never heard of any of our unaugmented kin thinking of us as anything other than people. And they expect the same standards of behaviour from us that they would of any other person.

Now I’ll grant you some of the stranger shamans get to talking about us being spirit kin of some sort. But even then our attitude towards spirits (as a people) seems to trend towards respectful but pragmantic. Certainly not worshipful.

Well, maybe a bit worshipful for Matar and Pator. But they would very much be the exceptions, in my experience anyway.

After 60 some odd posts here let me be clear.

We have seen this suggestion and while there might be some disagreement as far as it goes we are not going to implement any such Capsuleer Only restriction.

However anyone who connects to The Summit, Capsuleer or not, will be subject to the same requirements as everyone else in the channel. If you think someone is acting in a way that the moderators need to see, then please report what has occurred and provide logs. Creating threads on this platform only provides drama, not resolution.

If you want to see problems addressed then check the MOTD for The Summit and fire off a mail to every single moderator listed. Some are active, some are not. So only by messaging all of us are you guaranteed to see the matter addressed.

I consider the matter this thread was concerning to be closed unless anyone can provide evidence for why action should be taken.

Can we restrict the Summit to non-Capsuleers only? I feel like that would cut down on the petty squabbling.

I do believe that mutual respect is vital for the interaction between capsuleers and baseliners. However some things are best kept between peers and the Summit should be a place for capsuleers to talk things, just like the internal communication channels of my clan should be restricted to my clan only rather than having strangers randomly connect.

I don’t see how this is relavant to anything. One belongs to many circles, a lot of which are not open to people not in those circles; that does not mean one thinks less of people outside of them.

I miss @Fabuleux.

Also, i want to renovate my wardrobe and like to mingle with baseliners (for some reason my clothes tend to be ripped apart)

Baseliners in
Capsuleers in
Everybody in
Until we kick and beat some of them out.
