Suicide Ganking in High Sec

If you are expected to put a tank on a mining ship, why does the fitter complain about a shield tank fitted on an armour ship AND complain about an Armour tank fitted on a shield ship.

Hypothetically, if you ganked somebody in a 0.5/0.6 system (so the CONCORD response is slower), could you evade them by jumping through a wormhole before they show up?

Not quite in the spirit of the thread
But somebody suggested that they ban you if you start using ‘exploits’

Nope, you can’t jump.

Now back to enjoying the tears before the thread get locked.

once you fire the first shot you can not warp or jump

I don’t know if that would work, but if it would it’d be an exploit and anyone who used it would be banned, so it’s not worth talking about

When you gain the Criminal flag, your ship is locked down with regards to all travel capabilities- engines offline, cannot warp, cannot dock, cannot jump, cannot tether, etc. Once the ship is blown up, the pod can move around as normal, but remains criminal (valid target to everyone). If you dock, re-ship and undock before the timer expires, the new ship also summons CONCORD and is locked down the same as the original ship.

I don’t understand how people moan so much about a type of game play that CCP are ok with then don’t use any of the tools to help stop it , we need one of the new eve academy videos explaining to players what can be done , what killrights are for and how to use them and not let them go to waste, a part about how people are picked as targets and how to setup ships for travel in high sec to be safer , explain the different type of gankers and how they work and then about how some player fight them and how we do that.

It’s part of the game and always has been.

I think it’s fine, but I think the T2 mining ships could use a re-balance. A T2 hulk should be a little closer to other T2 ships of the same size. 10k EHP is nothing. Players should have a chance to call a corp friend in system, especially considering the ships are defenseless and the drones are useless. There should be some element of a reasonable fight.

They are a fleet mining ships, defense should be on grid already.

I have no issues with ganking. But I think they have it too easy. Just set concord response to instant inn all of highsec, and problem solved. I also belive ccp should a maximum number of concord ships that can spawn. As this is beeing exploited by players.

It amazes me everytime I see someone asking a question along those lines, so I have to ask…

What makes you think it shouldn’t be acceptable that some players shoot someone else’s spaceship in a spaceship shooting game?

Why don’t you make it harder for them by properly tanking your ship, using scouts, checking for hostiles in local, and taking precautions? If you think it’s too easy, that means 1) you’re making it too easy for them, and 2) you’ve never actually tried to gank someone.

Because the carebears have this misconception that hisec is their magical safe space that has to be 100% safe and any time they die there to a player it’s not ok.

It is not misconception. But only the half of whole statement. “ High sec is 100% safe place where you can earn ZERO ISK.” This is true conception. Risk/reward. Right?

Never going to stop people just killing for fun, I just think more should be done to remove the option of this as a career path

Because without ganking the decisions for optimal play for mining and hauling becomes straightforward and boring.

Without the tension of being able to be suicide ganked than simply having maximum throughput would be the ultimate goal of any Highsec ship/activity. Instead as you throw money at the problem not only do you get diminishing returns, but turn yourself into an increasingly juicy target.

Suicide ganking existing in the game is a important balancing factor for EVE Online. If you don’t agree you can look at Echoes for how fundamentally that change impacted the way that game works vs EVE Online.

It is though. Hisec isn’t anyone’s safe space, period. The ONLY place that is 100% safe is if you’re a newbie in 1 of the starter systems, where CCP has specifically stated griefing rookies (such as ganking them or tricking them into going suspect) is a bannable offense.

Anywhere else, anyone can be killed just the same as you can anywhere else, it’s just that most of the time it’s not worth it to kill you so people don’t bother. You can make plenty of ISK in hisec if you have a lot of accounts because most of the activities there scale very well (Orca mining), and those that don’t are often good on their own (T5/T6 abyssals). Many people think hisec is too good from a risk vs reward perspective, and it absolutely is if you do mass scale mining with Orcas or Procurers. Even in more vulnerable ships like Covetors someone who isnt afk and is just sitting there watching local can avoid most gankers.

If hisec were 100% safe, then yes it should produce 0 ISK, but it isnt 100% safe and produces a positive amount of ISK. The problem is that the amount it produces is too high for its risk imo, and more of that ISK production should be moved back into lowsec/nullsec/Jspace/Pochven. Don’t leave hisec barren but the amount of afk multiboxed Orcas or multiboxed fleets of mining barges you can find mining away in the more remote areas of hisec tells you its very profitable.

Highsec activities can net you as much or more as other areas of space, it just depends on a lot of factors.

Highsec is not 100% safe.

Believing that Highsec should be safe or shouldn’t be rewarding are both misconceptions.
