Suicide ganking is way too low risk, change my mind

LOL!

Nah, bro. If you’re at the point where you need twitch play to get through a gank, you’ve already failed. The point at which you would have avoided that was 5 decisions back.

A gank is the end result of multiple bad decisions on your part.

I’ve detailed my recent experience with what seemed to be a log-off trap here. Unless you’re saying that my “multiple bad decisions” were logging in and trying to play, my failure there was entirely mechanical.

Don’t stuff 12 Billion isk into a single freighter and you won’t be as big of a gank target. The single easiest way to avoid being ganked is to make sure someone else is a more profitable target.

Don’t fit for anti-tank, you only took a bit over 200k damage, you should have taken a lot more than that. Cargo Expanders reduce your structure HP. The ones you had fit gave you a 20% penalty each, stacking of course.

You knew there were hostiles in system, but you jumped in anyway. You may as well have jumped into a shark tank after bathing in chum.

Make sure your webber is in position before you drop gate cloak on the freighter. You have a minute and you should be able to position your webber in just a few seconds. Train up to a Hyena and you’ll be able to web anywhere a ship lands on a gate from anywhere a ship lands on a gate.

So, yeah, that gank was the end result of at least 4 bad decisions you made, and that’s just what I saw in your very brief description of events and the killmail.

Literally what I said.

Irrelevant since I was never scanned. That was the first gate I took. The cargo is a low value JF courier contract, by the way.

Again, irrelevant. Full tank fit would have required only 3 extra tornadoes and this particular ganker has at least 30 more. And btw, a full-full tank fit with implants and all would have been lanced on the LS gate and never made it to HS.

There are always hostiles around somewhere. They were not on the gate. The 2 appeared a second before i took the gate. It’s possible they weren’t even affiliated - I did not record their names. Normally, they cannot warp down to the gate and tackle you within 5 seconds if they come from a different system.

I really appreciate that you’ve taken the time to offer some actual advice and not just talk trash. Even with Hyena and heated T2 webs, you can end up out of range on regional gates and that’s why I was trying this method of warping down from perch. There’s a lot of room here for improvement, for sure.

I’m confident I’ve debunked 3 of the 4 and that last one is still a mechanical failure.

1: No, you said the loss was mechanical not because of you. You have so far blamed everything but yourself for this loss.

2: No one scouted you, but they somehow managed to warp or log in a gank fleet just as you arrived? Sure does seem like a convenient coincidence. A JF is ALWAYS going to be a juicy gank target at the border of lowsec, even if un-scanned and only spotted. You need to be taking even more precautions against it than you regularly would.

3: Again, make the other guy a more profitable target to avoid ganks. If the next freighter they scout takes three less to kill than your’s, that’s what they go for. It’s not difficult to figure out to everyone that doesn’t fly freighters or mine in highsec.

4: This section displays both bad judgement and a lack of basic understanding about the mechanics. First, hostiles are not always around, and if they are, it’s still stupid to jump 20 Billion isk worth of hull and cargo into it. Second, gate cloak does not have a lock time like module cloak does, you can lock immediately after dropping gate cloak.

5: My Hyena has a 42km web range with Fed Navy Webs, which means if it follows the freighter through the gate, it doesn’t matter where the two ships appear on grid around the gate, even regional ones, the freighter is in web range. If I have to warp it in from a perch, then there’s even less range issue.

Sorry, you haven’t debunked anything. All you’ve done is use fallacious arguments to deflect the blame from yourself to something else.

I’m sorry, but if this is your level of reading comprehension then there’s no point in continuing this conversation. Mechanical meaning pressing buttons quickly enough in the correct order and that’s the part I - meaning me and only me - failed. I hope that’s clear now.

You have 3x 50m webs on a 2k HP frigate? You’re not following your own advice. If you’re even in the same situation, this will die long before they tackle your freighter. If you ever fly a freighter, that is.

Doesn’t matter what you mean by mechanically when the issue is your decision making.

This is why you don’t swipe your credit card into large hulls, you lack the experience to fly them properly. Gankers don’t gank the webber alt, it’s a waste of gank ships.

My Charon, which I’ve had since 2011, is on its second freighter alt, after I sold the first one over a decade ago. I have never been ganked flying a freighter, because I follow all the advice I gave you here and more. I will happily safe log and come back tomorrow to finish a haul.

I’d post more if the forum let me. There’s a lot more for rapiers. I suspected you were talking out of your ass when you parroted the “5 decisions back” phrase and this confirms it. Thanks for engaging though.

When all else fails, accuse of swiping. Classic!

Baloney.

The thing that constantly gets ( deliberately ) left out in this absurd attempt at comparison is that the miner is making ISK by mining. ‘Razor thin margins’ is utter BS. I know that even a Gaussian laser Venture can make up its own cost in one or two trips to the asteroid belts. A basic fitted Retriever can make up its cost in around 20 trips. Anything beyond that is profit.

I know from my own experience mining as a noob that people are not being ganked more than once every 20 trips. In fact back then I was making enough profit ( selling my ore in Vittenyn ) that I even had two Procurers and had my first billion ISK. So I very soon had a backup Procurer in case I got ganked….and loads of ISK profit. I mined all the way from 0.5 Aurcel to 0.7 Chelien and never got ganked while mining.

So the whole ‘loses everything’ talk is sheer baloney. I was making more than enough that I could even afford to be ganked now and then….which I never was anyway.

It’s actually pretty incredible that you can see into other timelines and still can’t keep a freighter alive.

Thanks for the laugh. Lancing is the biggest threat before entering HS and you need to account for that in fit and clone. Here’s a good reddit thread about it Reddit - The heart of the internet . For your pleasure, I’ll also link a lanced JFs on that gate:
Ark | Seraph Meridia | Killmail | zKillboard

On the off-chance that you’re serious: I can’t know for sure I’d get lanced, but the lancer guys are always there in Ignoitton. I don’t know if they’re active and capable of lancing, but they’re always in local, even 1 minute after downtime. I’m surprised that you’re flaming about preparing for a lance, when the argument here is that freighter pilots don’t prepare enough.

The search for a safe freighter route continues

You’re a noob. Seven (7) losses?

Have you ever left HS?

The OP is 100% CORRECT. :check_box_with_check: :white_check_mark: :check_mark:

Yeah, you’re totally correct. A few webbers get ganked, so all webbers get ganked. Just like some freighters get ganked therefore all freighters get ganked. One ganker has a bunch of alts, therefore all gankers use 50+ alts.

/sarcasm

Why don’t you stop being afraid of a game or go play somewhere else? Eve is a game about risk, and because you’re too afraid to face any risk, you want it all removed so you can get a higher wallet score.

Lol…..the sheer comedy of a 47 day old noob with zero killboard deigning to try to put down someone with 3.2 Trillion worth of kills across their main chars.

I hit 3 trillion in 2005.

Try harder…

Those red ones don’t count. Those are losses.

So loss of security status and having to travel to lowsec CONCORD station and buy expensive tags and pay additional money to CONCORD to turn them on is not a consequence…

What is then, or what would be in your opinion? A permanent ban into highsec maybe? Don’t think you will settle for anything less than that because gankers will always find a clever and efficient way how to get around it.

Btw most of us are moving those tags to those lowsec stations outselves instead of buying them directly and overpricedly at the station. I guess we don’t risk getting caught with them right? And a few of us are farming them ourselves too in lowsec. Guess we don’t risk losing the ships we farm them with right?

It is not risky because highsec is incredibly safe if you know what you are doing. The last ship I lost to gankers was 2018-02-10 - a decently tanked Iteron with 80mil inside in Niarja that I put on autopilot. And that was already calculated loss where I knew this might happen, but wanted to get it done when I coldn’t play and it didn’t work out. Not really a real loss.

So if you know what you are doing, there is pretty much zero risk of you getting ganked ever in highsec. And since gankers do know how to play this game and are using all these mechanics to be safe, they then seem to be uncatchable, unpunishable and not risking anything.

Still they do risk. At the very least they risk not getting their target they “worked hard” for. For example, imagine they have to scan all haulers for 3 hours without break, and then when the gank starts they are ECMed by an antiganker and they can’t get the kill. You can say they lost nothing as their ships are relatively cheap (~25mil per gank cruiser) but they just lost 3 hours of playing. It is no different as if you would get your Retriever ganked with an ore you were mining for 3 hours straight (which can’t happen due to the cargo limit, but you get the point, or probably not considering you are gankhater and logic doesn’t apply to your kind…).

They also risk their looter getting caught and destroyed and therefore not getting what they came for. Be it cheap t1 hauler, a DST or even freighter. That they don’t lose these ships is again because highsec is so safe and they know what they are doing. And also because anti-gankers can’t be bothered to spend same amount of effort and resources (manpower / accounts) to make it any harder for them.

Have you?

You are not an EvE player? Zero (0) anything?
